Do you collect anything?

This is where we can talk about our collections of various items. Me? I’m going to start a collection of movie ticket stubs (yes, you heard me) . Do you guys have a collecton?

Happy Meal Boxes. I’ll post more about it later.

Bill - Get out. I’m starting a movie ticket stub collection, as well! Rock on…

I mainly collect such things as pens and pencils, pins, various t-shirts, and other memorabilia/merchandise that deals with certain subjects/films/brands that I favor (ie., Ratatouille). I have a rather decent collection of pencils, actually; I’ve gathered them over the years and probably have at least fifty or more as of late.

Well, the only thing I can think of would be music. I only have 1300 songs on iTunes (Which isn’t a lot compared to others I know), so I buy music whenever I have the spare cash. (It’s mostly Christian, with a couple exceptions. :stuck_out_tongue:)

I used to collect lots of things to do with cats. There’s a huge load of cat models and soft toys on my dressing table.

There are a lot of things I collect:

 • Postcards - I have a bunch taped over my bed, mostly from places I’ve been, and some from friends of mine… I’m kind of shameless in asking for people to pick one up for me when they go on mission trips or whatever…
 • Quotes - I’m closing in on 100-110 random, oddly thought-provoking, or outright funny quotes in a document on my laptop…
 • Lapel pins - most of them from places I’ve been, though a few have been given to me (one by a total stranger - that was cool)
 • State quarters - I’m not quite totally caught up at the moment - all I should have just over 40 of them; in addition, I’ve also held on to some cool coins I’ve come across, like a bicentennial quarter, a Susan B. Anthony silver dollar, and a Canadian 1-cent piece that’s so old it has King George VI on it (Queen Elizabeth II’s father)
 • Olympic stuff - I have a few Olympic lapel pins, 5 flags from the Sydney 2000 torch relay, one flag from the Salt Lake 2002 torch relay, an Athens 2004 t-shirt, a Salt Lake 2002 beret like the athletes wore in the opening ceremonies parade, and an officially licensed Roots Athens 2004 backpack. Also, I’ve been “scrapbooking” the Olympic games since 1998 - I’m working on filling my third notebook right now. I’m kind of obsessed, as if you can’t tell…
 • Antique books - it’s not much right now, but I have a copy of the complete works of Shakespeare from the 1920’s and a book that I think was printed in the 1910’s…

When I was younger, I tried a bunch of times to start a park map collection, but it’s not quite the same when you always go to the same amusement park…

Everyone’s got such interesting and varied collections.

When I was younger, I used to collect stamps, until it got boring. Then it was Tazos (anyone remember these? I think the American version was “Pogs”). Well, I used to “collect” marbles, but that wasn’t so hard seeing as you could buy a whole bag for $2.

And in Australia, we had these trading cards called “Oddbodz”, which had different characters on each one, and they were usually gross characters, and they glowed in the dark. =)

Today, I want to collect whatever Pixar movie merchandise is out that year. I’ll try to buy any Ratatouille merchandise I like, but not absolutely everything. Heh. Then after that it will be Wall.E (I’m dreaming of the day I can own a Wall.E plush), and then Up, and so on…

lol

I collect lots of stuff. Rocks, diecast cars, special coins, stuffed animals, anything pixar (of corse XD), cats, pokemon…

The strangest thing I have suddenly started collecting recently though are stuffed (plush) lambs and bunnys. There are five currently dominating my bed. I have no idea why though since cats have always been and still are my favorite animal.

Pogs! I remember those! I used to have quite a collection of those. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like collecting Snapple bottle caps because the fun facts on them. But I started this not too long ago, I’m not sure why.

I don’t collect anything now, but I do have a huge case of NBA cards laying around somewhere. Collected them when I was younger. Ahhh. Sweet memories.

If this counts, I think alot of people here probably collect the Pixar DVDs too, eh?

I collect ticket stubs, disney pins … I try to collect snowglobes, but my mom insists we have no more room for that ‘crap’. :unamused: So I only have two big ones, one little Ratatouille one, and a bunch of the 101 Dalmatians ones they gave away at McDonalds.

I also have a strange habit of collecting snippets from the papers, more specifically if it’s a cartoon or an actor I know. I have a hug pile in an artbox. I’ll probably do what I did with the first bunch and make a collage on a binder or a notebook.

I collect stickers, still. But I don’t have a book for them anymore since it got overcrowded, so now I just have a pile of unopened sticker packets.

Last but not least, I have a habit of collecting random cards from Pathmark. I have a book full of Harry Potter cards, Sailor Moon cards, Snow White cards, Disney cards, Rocky Horror cards, Shrek cards … lots of other misc. cards. ^^

Hah. My mom collects those, as well. Cool…

I’m so jealous…

FONY - Haha – I have a couple of those 101 Dalmations snowglobes, as well. I only wish I could locate them…

Mitch - What do you have so far in your movie ticket stub collection? So far, I only have The Simpsons Movie . Maybe I should go see Ratatouille for a fourth time and add that to my collection.

Bill - I have thirteen Ratatouille ticket stubs and two Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix stubs. Concerning the Ratatouille stubs, I really should have sixteen; however, I threw the first one out and I traded the other two in for exclusive pins.

Yeah. I’m crazy. :stuck_out_tongue: (snigger)

I still need a Ratatouille ticket stub for my collection. >_< I traded all mine in. I think I’ll pay to see it another time, even if I go to another film instead.

Wow, movie ticket stub collections seem to be very popular.

I collect almost anything with Cars . And I collect Ferrari merchandise, die cast cars posters etc. I also less actively collect things like stickers, postcards, stamps etc.

Yeah, it’s pretty cool. It all started with the Shakespeare, which my parents bought for me as a souvenir from their anniversary trip to Southern California. The fact that it was so old and cool-looking got me excited, and then my grandfather thought I would like some more, so he gave me two or three, including the book from the maybe-1910’s. So, like I said, it’s not that much right now - maybe three or four books. My dad has some old O. Henry books from the 30’s or 40’s that I’d like to absorb into my collection, too.

I also sort of collect ticket stubs, but only for movies and concerts that were really special. So I have tickets from a special student midnight screening of Chronicles of Narnia, tickets from the times I saw Star Wars III and Pirates 2 at the midnight show, tickets from Ratatouille and Cars, and from times when I went to the movies with good friends, like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Night at the Museum. I also have a ticket from when I went to see Michael W. Smith in concert back in May (he’s one of my all-time favorite singers).

KE - How interesting! What I wouldn’t give to own a collection of antique books, unlike my mom – she owns an assortment of dated novels (most of them in Norwegian/Scandinavian print) and a miniscule Bible that was once owned by (I think) her grandfather (or was it great-grandfather…?) who fought in WWII. At least, I think it was WWII. It’s quite ancient, in any case.
