do you like disney channel?

In D.C. Asia, there was this marathon of Pixar movies over a weekend (or a day, not too sure), though I think they only showed three movies (IIRC, A Bug’s Life, The Incredibles and Cars).

I agree…I hardly watch it anymore. But sometimes I’ll switch over there and there will be something good on

The only good shows on it these days are Phineas and Ferb and well, that’s about it.

I getting really tired of their cheesy sitcoms.

i love that show  <3

Well, before, I saw Sonic The Hedgehog on Disney Channel on the late nineties.

But now, it’s getting lame…

A few of my favorites on Disney Channel(These shows are aired by Disney Channel Asia)
That’s so Raven
House of Mouse
Mickey Mouse and Friends
Mr. Bean(both live and animated)
DCOM(High School Musical only)

Well I guess that’s it.

To be completely honest, I really do hate the Disney Channel. Minus the morning hours (which feature children’s shows), it seems as if 90% (or more) of the shows on there are scripted the same – in this, I mean that practically every show features teenagers with personalities like every other teenager on every other show, the settings and family situations are fairly similar (if not identical), and the scripts themselves are just… annoying, to be blunt. The Disney Channel used to be fun man. Nowadays, I see nothing in it…

That aside, there is only one show on there (besides Kim Possible and The Proud Family, both of which I don’t even see being aired on the Disney Channel as often anymore) that my sister and I will literally run to the TV for, and that is The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Oddly enough, I like almost every single character on there, and the show itself is downright hilarious, in our humble opinion. Perhaps we just appreciate that stupid sense of humor, but seriously, we’ve probably wet our pants a couple of times watching it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some of the Hannah Montana episodes are actually quite funny at times, but I wouldn’t label it as the greatest show on the Disney Channel.

You’re right, Mitch, it’s absolutely terrible now. I hadn’t watched the Disney Channel for ages, and so decided to have a quick look through, and there wasn’t a single programme on that actually appealed to me. Nothing. Just lots of teenagers, as you said, in very bright places, bouncing around the screen and acting pretty idiotic.

lizardgirl - I know, man. It’s horrendous, which is a real shame… as it originally had a lot of potential. I’d watch Dinosaurs, Darkwing Duck, Timon and Pumbaa, Dumbo’s Circus, etc… – all of that stuff when I was a kid! Now there’s nothing. (heh)

Ha-ha! Yep, that pretty much sums it up.

What ever happened to the classic Disney channel stuff? All we get on the DIsney channel is absolute crap (yeah, I said it) now.

I don’t think everything on Disney Channel is horrid. But yes, I liked it TONS better back when they had a perfect balance of live action comedy AND cartoons that I would never outgrow. And in addition to that, back when the episodes of T.V. shows WEREN’T almost all about the characters trying to get a date or something similar to that situation.
Even the movies they show aren’t animated anymore (from where I am)!

JhOpZzZz: House of Mouse?! Really? Man, I wish they still aired that here on Disney Channel where I am. My only hope now to see episodes of that are if people post them up on YouTube.

I hate Disney channel. Always have always will. I never understood how shows like Hannah Montana or high school musical can become popular. The stories they tell seem to be really stupid.

mo: The reason why Hannah Montana and HSM are popular on the Disney Channel is because the young audience can relate to their experiences and have “role models” to look up to.

I do like Phineas and Pherb, but I like only the storyline of it and the crazy sequences that occcur. I rather stick with Nicktoons Network definetly! Maily because of the more variety of shows and because it just plain awesome!
hahahaha

Disney Channel has gone through a lot of changes. The replaced a lot of the animated stuff, including Lilo and Stitch, House of Mouse, Timon and Pumbaa, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Recess, and Brandy and Mr. Whiskers. Some of these shows have been moved to the early AM times, like 4 AM. Others are completely gone and moved to Toon Disney. Not to mention, instead of the good old Shorty McShort Shorts and Shaun the Sheep, when Disney Channel have 5 extra minutes, they show As the Bell Rings, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, and 3 Minute Game Show.
I don’t see Disney Channel showing us classics anymore.

Before movies, Disney Channel used to have this catchy little theme song that went, "Let’s watch a Disney Channel movie!" Now, they kept the same intro sequence (kids flying around film tape) but it doesn’t sound like a song. It’s just saying "Disney Channel movie" over and over in a stuttering, remixed way.

Movie Surfers have also changed. Besides adding and losing people, they also changed their intro. In the beginning, there used to be something like surfing scenes/music. Now it’s, I dunno, different. But this little change I have no problem with. It’s okay.

DCOMs have changed as well. They used to show more effort/meaning in them. Example: Smart House, showing us that technology can do all sorts of things, but cannot replace your parents. Pixel Perfect, showing us that perfection isn’t everything. Now You See It, telling us to accept ourselves and our friends for the way they are. A Ring of Endless Light, saying that just because something can’t be explained with scientific reasonings doesn’t mean it’s worthless. Motocrossed, getting the point across that girls can do things just as good as boys.
Now what do we see? HSM, Camp Rock, and Cheetah Girls 3 getting more popularity. Don’t get me wrong- I don’t exactly hate it. The actors’ efforts in music and choreography is pretty great, but music/dancing isn’t all that matters in a good movie. I just get irked how Disney Channel shows these movies over and over but the older ones are shown just once in a while. A big while. :x

And now, they have something called "Give Thanks Week" for Thanksgiving. :-\ You know what they [u:3ngebx3d]should[/u:3ngebx3d] do to make me thankful for Disney Channel? Bring back the good old shows and movies! I don’t care if they’re reruns, I just wanna see them on Disney Channel again! It isn’t supposed to be [i:3ngebx3d]all[/i:3ngebx3d] about teenagers. Disney Channel, all you have to do is make room.

I’m tellin’ ya, I can barely recognize Disney Channel if I compared it to what it used to be like.

I completely understand bright dot-dasher, I miss all the classics! One of my favorite classic is House of Mouse. Now i have to wake up at 4 to see it! GEEZE
I feel like they’re going to the eyes of teens alot now…
maybe its just me.

Did anyone notice there was some kind of pattern on Disney Channel with Spy Kids?
Some time ago, they used to show Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams over and over so many times the promo ads on Disney Channel became annoying. Then, after a while, they premiered Spy Kids 3: Game Over very often. After that, the first Spy Kids movie recurred on Disney Channel.

Oh, and now there’s going to be a new series in 2009 starring Demi Levato called, Sonny With a Chance. When I saw the promo clip, I was like, “NOOOOOOO!” It’s nothing personal against Demi Levato, but it’s that when a new series moves in, another moves out sooner or later. And I have a feeling that they’re aiming to remove the last animated shows on D.C. Soon enough, Disney Channel will have nothing that doesn’t center teenagers. Plus, this show just doesn’t appeal to me.

Sadly, I’ve seen just about every episode of Disney Channel’s original sitcoms. They’re all dreadful, but I have to admit that they’re fairly entertaining. It’s starting to get annoying, though. I’d like to see some fresh ideas from them. The least they could do is air “Even Stevens” (and “Bug Juice,” “Flash Forward,” etc.) again.

You know how it goes; as time goes on, originality is tougher to obtain.

I was a huge fan of Disney Channel back then. I was especially a big fan of Kim Possible - I dare say - and American Dragon: Jake Long. I really yearned to watch an episode from the latter, “The Academy,” but, that chance was never offered to me. :frowning:

I like Even Stevens, but I was never quite liking the live action productions even as a teenager around the age of 15-16, so I had pretty much skipped all sitcoms of Disney till just a few years back, when I tried to catch up.

There are a few jewels in them, however, all covered up by the cheesy lines and the corny characters. One of them is the music. They almost always have good music, as it is, well, Disney. Another entertaining value they possess is the humor. They always get me rolling on floor laughing my head off. I assume it was my overly sensitive sense of humor. :stuck_out_tongue: Zack And Cody are my favorite joke box in particular.

I think they show too much Suite Life and Hannah Montana.

The Suite Life was better when Zack and Cody played pranks and games and hung around Arwin. But now, it’s mostly about their relationships with high school and girls. Plus, I liked Maddie’s character way better than Bailey. I liked how Maddie always had fights with London, but now they’ve replaced her with Bailey, who wants to be London’s BFF instead, and apologizes too soon in the episodes, before it could get hilarious.

Oh, yeah, I remember Even Stevens. Didn’t really watch that show, but there’s something about it that made it better than most of the shows today. I don’t know why…I LOL’d at this quote from one of the episodes:
“IS IT FAIR that Pluto has to stay home while Goofy, who is also a dog, gets to go to the beach?”
School: “Huh?”
“Sorry, that just always bothered me. Anyway…”

Sorry, just had to say that.

I remember back when Lizzie McGuire used to be on. Yeah, it’s a TV show about a teenager, but they had 2-D animation in it, too!

Anyway…there’s a reason why it’s called DISNEY channel! Doesn’t look like a “Disney” channel to me. I’m not saying they have to replace the teenage shows with cartoons, but instead make room for animation. Walt Disney intended to make FAMILY entertainment, not teenager-only stuff! I’ve met little girls that used to be into the Disney cartoons rapidly act older and make themselves sound ridiculous at such a young age! Why? Because they used to find animated shows right on Disney Channel, and kept watching it…even when the animated stuff vanished.

That was just me ranting…can’t blame me, canya?

Who wants to start an online pettition about this to send to Disney?
