Disney has had countless failed animated series in recent years, so I doubt their TV animation will make a comeback unless they know it will work. “Phineas and Ferb” seems to be doing well, however. I even saw some merchandise in a local Disney Store.
Nothing will beat '80s and '90s Disney cartoons. But I like Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverley Place, and Kim Possible. High School Musical is ok, but a bit too sweet and unrealistic for my tastes. But I don’t have Disney Channel, so have to make do with whatever Saturday Disney decides to throw on.
Disney Channel has changed their intro at the beginning of movie premieres. It’s actually pretty good…I like how they looked back at their old DCOMS for a while…hmmm, I guess they didn’t forget about their old successful films after all.
But what bothers me is that just last night (or should I say this morning) I had to stay up til 2:00 AM just to watch one of their old DCOMs, Jumping Ship. Excellent movie, but I got so mad because I fell asleep at the climax!
Not a good thing if you have to stay up so late and struggle to stay awake during their old movies.
Well, I like it as it is.
I also liked it then too.
Yeah, I agree. I wish there was more of a variety of shows on Disney Channel.
I want to pull my hair out when I think about Disney Channel today. They took out this REALLY great show, The House of Mouse a long time ago… which was probably the only thing “Disney” left on the channel! And I personally think that Hannah Montana and High School Musical is being made a bigger deal than they really are. I hate them both massively, no duh!
I can stand Kim Possible, though. I mean I used to watch it ALL the time like 7 yrs ago. Haha. But I NEVER watch DC anymore, except occasionally when they play a movie I like.
But other than that, I stick to my DVDs and Blu-rays. I personally hate watching TV.
Yeah, I hear ya, little_chef_eva09! House of Mouse was sooo good man!
GRRRR…what upsets me is that I was watching Disney Channel just a few hours ago (cause I watch some shows on there) and came across a commercial that just made me want to yell. They called it “DC Rewind”. Guess why it’s called that.
They claimed it was bringing back the past Disney.
Their “past” Disney was the first HSM, Jump In, and Cheetah Girls 2, HSM 2, Cheetah Girls 3…
You should have seen my reaction to that. I was screaming at it “How stupid do you think we are?!” and in my head I was screaming the rest (because my family’s tired of hearing me rant out loud)" You show that movie all the time! Labeling it something else won’t change anything! It won’t make us more excited if you call it that! Calling High School Musical the ‘past’ and Camp Rock the present won’t fool anyone!"
I loved that show!! Though I’d love it more if they had more interactions between the different Disney characters rather than show several shorts.
I have to be in the mood for the Disney channel. When im with my girlfriend and were just hanging out and she has a show on i can tollerate it. But if im by myself, id find myself on Nickelodeon before Disney.
Although when Disney aires animated movies, im always game!
Bad news for those of you with Toon Disney. I heard Disney XD is replacing it. And if you saw the promo of Disney XD, it’s like the end of the world for Disney. Seriously, compare “Jimmy Two Shoes” with “Lilo and Stitch”. Disney XD can’t be called “Disney”. It’s not Disney’s style at all!
Late response, sorry. x3
Had this been asked to me some upteen years ago…I would’ve said I loved the Disney Channel. There was…hardly a show I didn’t watch back in the late 80s/early 90s of the station’s existance. However now…now I abhor the channel to the greatest extent…it really is a festering pile of cheap commercialism, to be short and blunt about it. And trust me, i’m being nice and using about as much restraint on my opinion and language as I can.
And really, it does NOT narrow down to age–the shows aired back then did and still do have the “Disney Magic” feel to them. Whereas…things like Hannah Montana and HSM (which, by the by, if I wanna watch a high school musical with more interesting plot, i’ll watch Grease, thank ya much!) honestly…do not. But realistically, how “magical” can a poorly written sitcom about a child with a rockstar life be?..knowing how much magic is really in that industry? …when your music career’s not just handed to you on a silver platter just because you happen to have a TV career with the company? >_>
Yes, I know. I’m horribly cynical.
Also…I really do miss Vault Disney, to boot…what I don’t get is, why must they have repeats of the daytime shows on at that hour, when kids should be -IN BED- at that time? It makes no sense.
