Wouldn’t be a first.
Also they said that this was the first time that they’ve had to think about making a movie into a sequel or not.
Which is really, really sad.

Those guys never learn, did they? Each year - I mean, each movie they produced irks me. Seriously, the Monsters vs Aliens concept was so absurd that I couldn’t stand the movie and pissed out. Please, somebody tell Dreamworks, stop making sequels.
Something bugs me, will guys in Dreamworks pay a huge amount of money to ‘take’ Pixar guys. Assume that Brad Bird being offered to DSKG, would it be possible if he take it?
p/s: thewisecookiesheet & ffdude1906, I LOVE your sigs. Where did y’all get one??
Well, DreamWorks can. They are huge! I have read that sometimes when people leave Pixar they’ll go to DW, I can’t remember reasons off the top of my head, but pay was a big one.
Now, if Bird was offered at DSKG, I don’t know, because he has such a thing with Pixar. But, DW has one amazing special effects department, so if he wanted to do a live-action film, I could see him going over there.
p/s: We got them from Captain Pan. You can click in my sig where it says: “Thanks Captain Pan!” And it’ll take you to his board
Thanks! Now i’m gonna request to make one for meh…
OMG!
MADAGASCAR!!!
Oh man I can’t wait for that movie. I love the Madagascar movies since they’re really funny. Too bad the wait is too long.
"Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom "
I’ll admit it: The title made me laugh. That’s either gonna be really good or absolutely horrible. xD
Im sure all the movies that Dreamworks has coming will be awesome! I love Dreamworks, they have great work. Im personally excited!
This is awesome!
Ooberminded looks like it will be a pretty funny flick!
Kung Fu Panda 2! Thats fricken sweet, i love Kung Fu Panda!!
Madagascar 3, WIN!!!
I love Dreamworks their movies are awesome, sorry to the haters, but i know the only reason a majority of you people hate on them is because they are Pixars rival.
if Dreamworks sucked, they would’t be competition for Pixar, but they are competition, so you have to admit they are good!
It’s official. No Monsters vs Aliens sequel will be made.
From today’s LA Times Business section, Katzenberg tells why:
Katzenberg also said the studio did not plan to produce a sequel to “Monsters vs. Aliens,” which generated $380 million at the box office but did not fare well in some key international markets.
When asked why, he said: “I’d like to tell you there’s a perfectly rational, clear and easy answer as to why not, but there isn’t.”
“There was enough of a consensus from our distribution and marketing folks in certain parts of the world that we’d be pushing a boulder up a hill,” Katzenberg said of the decision not to pursue a sequel.

Though it’s not mentioned in the article, in previous articles I remember reading it was mostly in Europe (esp Germany) where the results were less than stellar, even though it did quite well in the US/Canada.
I just read about the plot for Oobermind and it doesn’t sound bad at all really.
Also, for those of you who don’t know, Truckers is based on an actual book by Terry Pratchett! It’s one of my favourite books of all time… I just hope Dreamworks doesn’t mess up this adaptation.
EDIT// I just realized that thedriveintheatre already pointed this out. Sorry.
That’s REALLY suprising that there’s No MvA sequel. And Truckers is a real book.
Some new Puss In Boots information.
bleedingcool.com/2010/06/20/ … -in-boots/
“The plot sees them teaming with Humpty Dumpty to steal the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs. So basically more Fables-Lite.”
A story that has nothing to do with pre-existing Shrekness. Could be good.
To Mr 'Berg: No Shrek, Sherlock!
Thanks for the info Fett! The background is a little uninspired, but I like the look of Puss’ beautiful companion!
This movie is definitely still on the agenda then? It’s odd, but even though I was never the biggest Shrek fan in the world, I did like the character Puss in Boots enough to be kind of excited when this spin-off film was first announced, back in 2004. After years of nothing much materialising, or even being announced (not to mention the whole Shrek franchise running itself into the ground), I assumed that the idea was just vaporware, and had long since moved on. It’ll be interesting to see some preview footage, at least.
i do look forward to seeing Kung Fu Panda 2.
I hope they fire Jeff Katz and move on, similar to what Disney did with Eisner. Then they could make more decent movies like Dragons.
I’m praying that Dreamworks learns a thing or 2 from Toy Story 3 to treat their audience and characters with respect
Bryko, I am doomed to have nightmares about those dolls until I die
