I was being a Cars nerd again and went searching up some new information. Apparently, this (the link I’m about to show you) was posted just 2 days ago. It says at the bottom of the article, something about a man named Dustin Hoffman, playing a role as Doc or a new character. They already showed (on another site) Emily Mortimer is going to do a voice of a car but they didn’t say who yet. I’m willing to bet Emily is doing Emma’s voice. Emma appeared in Mater National. She is a British car who Mater is attracted to. At the end of the game she says, “Oh, you should come visit us in England one day! It’s just over the pond!” Which, by the way, was a total give away to those that don’t have internet that there was going to be a Cars 2.
I don’t know if this is a site that you can trust information from, because I’ve never heard of it, but I’ll post it anyway. Don’t go by me. It also shows some rumors about Finding Nemo 2 (which unless he gets lost again, doesn’t make sense) and Monsters Inc 2 (which I think is an incredible idea).
Well, I did like him as Master Shifu from KFP, so here’s good luck to him! It’d be interesting, seeing that KFP2 and Cars 2 are both coming out next year in direct competition…
I have to agree with Bryko here; besides, doesn’t it seem unlike Pixar to replace an actor with a Hollwood hot-shot? When the actor who played Slinky died they didn’t give the role to Tom Cruise, they got his friend who happened to sound exactly like him.
Same here! That’s why I’m really hopeing that it’s a new character. Dustin has an amazing voice, especially in Liberty’s Kids when he played Benedict Arnold But I agree with you, no one can or should replace Paul Newman’s voice!
But anyways, my opinion on this? No. Just no. Leave Doc out of the movie, or make him silent like Red, but don’t replace his voice. Just, I would burst into tears in the movie theater if I saw Doc’s mouth moving and Paul Newman’s voice being replaced with someone else’s. Paul can’t be replaced. He just can’t!
I can easily see them getting Ed Asner to play Doc. There were several instances in Up when Carl’s voice sounded exactly like Doc’s. Especially when he says “You in the suit! Yes, you! Take a bath, hippie!”
Virginia: Agreed! And honestly, while I agree Ed Asner and Paul Newman have similar voices, I don’t think they are alike enough. At least for me. It’s all a matter of opinion here, I guess.
