The fact that everything works together so well should be enough.
Um, there’s a difference between a theory and a scientific theory. By debating atheists so often, i know this.
By the way, the term scientific theory is only used with evolution, so of course it’s a scientific theory, since it’s the only scientific theory out there!
I am a Christian and I truly believe God created the universe for 2 reasons:
It’s in the bible.
There is no real convincing scientific evidence to the contrary. Whenever I watch some special about it on Nt. Geo. or the History Channel, there always seems to be something missing in the big bang theory (no, not the hilarious show on CBS, the actual theory). Here’s what’s always missing: WHAT BROUGHT ABOUT THE CHEMICALS OR PARTICLES THAT SLAPPED TOGETHER TO MAKE THE BIG BANG HAPPEN?
Anyway, now y’all know what I think on this issue, and I don’t think it should be taught in schools, so I digress from this thread, unless someone makes a purely FANTASTIC comment.
If a book was written over a period of thousands of years, and was the most published and most translated book in the entire world, wouldn’t you think that there was something in there that people find interesting?
The fact that everything works together so well is enough evidence? (This may sound like a point for creationists but it isn’t) If everything didn’t work so well, or at all, well then we wouldn’t be here. So it’s trial and error and natural selection that have made things work so well because it works on survival, and thus why we are here.
Yes there are other scientific theories, such as the The General Theory of Relativity which is considered and accepted as fact.
“Theories” are not “true” in science, at least in the regular sense of the word “true”. “True” “theories” only are “confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.” [2]
Evolution is fact.
According to Dawkins, people can be split into the following categories on the existence of God.
mmm, good chart bawpcwpn. I think I would fall between a 1 and a 3. I strongly believe in the God of Christ, but it is really hard for me to follow in his ways. For example, I believe in the creation, and i believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. but I have trouble keeping God’s “Ten Commandments” and setting a good example of myself.
Yeah but the bible is a book where we know who wrote each chapter and it has inspired thousands, no, MILIIONS of people who have been healed by it. The point is, we have evidence of the power of faith in God. However, there is no absolute proof whatsoever of the existance of an event like the big bang. (Scientology, anyone?)
And bawpcpwn, I’d be a 1 on your quiz. So will everyone please stop messing with me with all this quantum physics crap? All right??? I mean, you don’t do this to A113, do you??? (In other words, please be a little friendlier WALL-E. I am a strong believer in God because I have seen people healed by faith, and I would appreciate it if you didn’t try to ‘make fun’ of my faith.)
A113, you really make my blood boil. I spent an hour writing a response to you and you completely ignore it! Do you even read my posts? Hello? Anyone there? I tried to be patient with you and given you the benefit of the doubt, but now I can see why others are getting so frustrated with you - you are acting very ignorant.
Twice I have asked you to please explain why you think evolution/creationism should or should not be taught in schools, but you go right on ignoring me. Why???
There were many questions in my last post that I’d really appreciate if you took the time (don’t rush it!) to answer in a thoughtful way, as I have done to you. You ask for sources, I provide. I have spent many an hour thoughtfully thinking about what you have said and typed up a response, of which you don’t do the same in return. I’m not going to let this spill out into other threads, and I’ll try to treat you the same as everyone else here, but you sure do make it hard for me.
1…all because I believe in Christ who was sent by God. His story and history gives me hope for tomorrow.
its like a song i heard recently…
What if you’re right?
And he was just another nice guy
What if you’re right?
What if it’s true?
They say the cross will only make a fool of you
And what if it’s true?
What if he takes his palace in history
With all the prophets and the kings
Who taught us love and came in peace
But then the story ends
What then?
But what if you’re wrong?
What if there’s more?
What if there’s hope you never dreamed of hoping for?
What if you jump?
And just close your eyes?
What if the arms that catch you, catch you by surprise?
What if He’s more than enough?
What if it’s love?
What if you dig, What if you dig
Way down deeper than your simple-minded friends
What if you dig?
What if you find
A thousand more unanswered questions inside
That’s all you find
What if you pick apart the logic
And begin to poke the holes
What if the crown of thorns is no more
Then folklore that must be told and retold
You’ve been running as fast as you can
You’ve been looking for a place you can land so long
But what if you’re wrong?
What if you jump?
And just close your eyes?
What if the arms that catch you, catch you by surprise? What if He’s more than enough?
What if it’s love?
[b:15ncpoee]Al-bob[/b:15ncpoee], if you are going to re-enter the thread, you may as well take up the aforementioned "challenge" by me. Don’t cherry-pick want you want to respond to.
No. I’ll just copy and paste what I’ve already written since you can’t seem to find it:
I’d like to steer the discussion away a little bit and approach it from a different angle, and ask A113 and Al-bob (as I’ve previously asked them) to explain their stance on Evolution/Creationism being taught in public schools. Do you think Creationism should be compulsory? Evolution in the science classroom should be banned? Or taught alongside Christian Creationism? Why or why not?
All i want is for Christianity to be taught as well as Evolution. It isn’t our (Christians) decision to convert people. Its the person’s and God’s plan. I can’t convince someone. That isn’t my job. But what drives me batty is that the public schools will call Evolution a belief but say that Christianity which is a belief is to religious for the classroom. Even though in my opinion evolution requires more faith then Christianity. We have a history book that could be used in schools (not saying it should) that teaches us about the past and what happened. We also know about the world and why we are here. I know about Christ and Nebucanezer. Why Christ came and what i’m called to do. I can see how my religion could cause such misbelief due to its rather hazy outside shell. But the inside is eyeopening if you believe. Everything just looks better from where i stand. I see so much clearly with Christ.
under review-
My job as a follower of the beliefs and efferts of Christ are these
to attempt to live like he did in a walk that follows morality and selfless-ness
to sustain from all evil (wrong doing) which all people do have a sense of
to try to “tell” not bring other people to see what i’m following and to show them the real good that is has. God will then do whatever he feels fit with that person.
and that’s it…that is my religion.
I hope you understand this…i’d hate to have to rewrite all of this
Not really. For all you know Zeus is the one who fit it all together.

6 here. 7’s are as closed minded as biblical literalists.
From your posts, I gather that you think gay people have “tormented souls” (I also assume you are against same-gender marriage and adoption rights), you are against abortion (even in cases of rape and where the woman’s life is in danger?) ,you are not in favour of a female president, and you completely reject the tested scientific theory of evolution because it contradicts what it says in your Bible. Seems like you are pretty rigid in your beliefs, to me.
Could you please describe why you think you are open-minded then, Al-bob?
Heh, this thread is apparently not over yet. Why am I not surprised… Ah, well, let me put my two-cents on Creationism Education and such, then.
Basically, many people have different views about Evolution and Creationism. Some used biblical beliefs, others used scientific theories. They are put under the same categories of “Theories” as they are both theories made up through human assumptions and alleged evidences found throughout history. Both requires faith, IMHO. The religious beliefs naturally needs it because we cannot see God. The scientific beliefs (or, in your terms, ‘proven theories’) also needs it because of a factor I elaborated on a few pages back in this thread - human error.
I wouldn’t want to go back there again, and seriously, I am sick and tired of talking about Evolution. It’s been debated by many science-enthusiasts and yet, here we are today. So, I’m just going to leave it at that.
