Well, according to Dash’s criteria, Randall met all of the points- he was in a lower
position than his leader, he was wholy and very blindly devoted to his leader, (for
personal gain), and as the sidekick, Randall began to do all of the work, but had Fungus to help him.
Fungus was a side-kick to Randall, as these points apply from Fungus to Randall, but whether or not
Fungus was actually devoted to Randall is another question.
Meh, at the end of the day, Randall’s still
my favourite.
I quite like Robin, as well- he idolises Batman so much, that he doesn’t know his own
capabilities as well.

Randall does NOT meet the 3 criteria. I would argue that
he’s not wholey devoted to Waternoose personally but that’s really based more on a gut feeling than actual
evidence, but for certain Randall does not compliment Waternoose. Waternoose knows he can function with or
without Randall and his method does not change just because of Randall.
I guess whether or not Waternoose needed Randall depends on whether anyone else at MI was capable of designing
and building a machine like the Scream Extractor, and had as much to gain as Randall. If Waternoose could have
functioned without Randall, then why didn’t he banish Randall along with Mike and Sulley, when the SE had been
completed? Randall let Mike and Sulley find out about the SE, and Waternoose thought that Randall was a
liability, yet he still didn’t banish him. Why? Because he was relying on Randall, as Randall had the know-how
when it came to the SE, so if it broke down he could fix it, and also because if anything went wrong, Waternoose
could blame it on Randall. Randall was the scapegoat. Waternoose needed him for both of these reasons.
I
guess, maybe if there were another employee that could create something like the SE, and was so desperate for the
rewards that would have come with building the SE (according to Waternoose, at least, although it was probably
all lies) then Randall would have been more disposable. But from the film, it just doesn’t seem like that.
I like Mushu a lot. I love Iago and
Sebastian too. Would the Genie count as a sidekick? because if he does, he’d be my favorite
Ehh…he’s really more of a
helpful friend.
~~=oP
But the adorable Abu would count as a side kick I think.
I love his eyes.
Abu is greedy O.o;;; I like the Magic
Carpet!!
I like Fidget from The Great Mouse Detective and Panic from Hercules .
Well, now that we are talking about favorite
side kicks, tell me, who is your least favorite? And why?

Ironically, my least favorite side-kick is one of
PixarPixie’s favorites, and that would be Figit. He scares me, for some reason.
(snigger) Although, I have to admit that I felt bad for him when he fell in the river… Heh.
Other than
that, I don’t really have a least favorite side-kick.
That’s okay, Mitch . To be
perfectly honest, before I warmed up to Fidget , the scene where he comes through the toy store window sent me
flying backwards in my seat !

PixarPixie Haha – yeah, me
too!
I have a question: Would Mater be considered a side-kick?
I suppose that that is, in a
sense, out of the question, however. To me, he is simply Lightning’s best friend and buddy – someone to hang
out with. I’m just curious as to whether or not anyone else considered Mater to be a side-kick to
Lightning.
I think Mater would fall into the best
friends catagory.
Yeah, Mater has “best buddy” material written all over him
what about that short guy
in Beauty and the Beast?? you know, Gaston’s side-kick?
I know tha Gaston is my least favorite
villain… he’s such a jerk
His name is Lefou. I didn’t
like him. He is so clumsy.

The Star Swordsman - Yes, I
agree: Mater is more of a best friend.
Googly-Bear - I would describe Gaston
as…“vain”. It certainly shows – I hate the guy, too.
How about Timon and Pumbaa? They’re
kind of like a side-kick/best friend combo, I suppose. I prefer Timon over Pumbaa, personally.
Well, I think both would indeed fit both categories. But
I think both are Simba’s own personal little helpers.

The
Star Swordsman - Yeah, that’s true. I guess you could say that Simba is, in a sense, in their
debt, as they pretty much saved his life at the last minute. And that kind of makes them more than side-kicks, if
you get my meaning.
I wonder if Kaa could be considered a side-kick? He isn’t really involved in
anyone’s “dirty work” though, unless you count the times when he has been taunted by Shere Khan.
I think Kaa is a loner. I don’t think he has
any person to look up to except himself.

Yeah – the poor guy… (sigh) I’m rather glad that he’s not a side-kick, for certain reasons.
I
almost forgot to mention that I also like Pooka from Don Bluth’s Anastasia. He’s
quite charming for a puppy.
