Favorite Disney Side-kick

I remember Pooka!!! it’s been forever since I’ve seen

that movie O.O

Googly-Bear - Haha – yeah, he’s a cute little character. I used to have a plush

doll of him, but I think I gave it away years ago. I kind of regret that now – heheh.

Pooka used to be

my favorite side-kick from Anastasia, but then I came to like Bartok alot more.

I know I missed the bit with Randall, but I’ll give my two cents.

Remember

people there are SIDE-KICKS and HENCHMEN. To me, Side-Kicks are willingly with their partners, while as Henchmen

are sorta chained to their leader.
Personally Randall isn’t really a sidekick. He’s not willing

Waternoose’s side-kick. He really isn’t low enough to be considered a Henchmen really.

Recently I

figured out that Ran’s title can be considered a Tragic Villian, as defined by "a villain who really does

not intend to be a “villain” and perhaps believes they are honestly doing good. They are perhaps misled

or not entirely in control of their feelings and/or actions."

Randall would be my favorite here, but

he is more of a TV rather than a SK or henchmen.

Someone talked of Iago here. At first a

Henchmen, then a sidekick (twice actually, once to Aladdin, then Aladdin’s father Casem). Since I don’t

consider Randall one, I think Iago would be my favorite side-kick.
And more so because Iago was once on the

side with Jafar, but, in a try-fail-try-win effort, switch to the good side. Proving that “villains”

can, maybe once again, switch to the good side.

Nexas - I agree with your third paragraph there, in that Randall is not a

side-kick, but more like a “tragic villian”, as you said. And even then, I wouldn’t really consider

Randall a villian, now that I know more about him and his personality.

As for side-kicks themselves…

Well, depending on their personality, I would never consider them to be villians. To

me, they are simply warm-hearted characters who either got mixed up in the wrong crowd, or were desperate for a

leader to follow and, unfortunately, chose the wrong person to be led by. Or, they

got picked out by the meanest vilian around as a subject to do the villian’s “dirty work”.

Pooka used

I

used to have a crush on Bartok :unamused:

Googly-Bear - No way! And I thought I was the only one… Heheh. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Love" />

I’m not really sure who my least fav sidekick would be. I guess right now I dont have

one. I know once I post this I’ll probably think of one though

Thank you. One of my life goals IS to give

others sympathy toward my dear friend.

Well to me Side-Kicks are…well…really sorta the "good

guy" variation. Henchmen are, I suppose, the extras. The “stock characters” if you

will…
Wonder what the correct term for a villianous side-kick is…
But anyways. True. Some do it

because they think it’s the winning side, or are bound by their master through chains.

Bartok got his own

movie if I recall due to his fandom.

Nexas - You’re welcome. After reading your,

pitbulllady’s, Double_Latte’s, and

lizardgirl’s numerous posts concerning the character of Randall, I

finally began to appreciate him. Heheh.

Someone on this thread said that the

villian’s side-kicks are best known as “minions”, to which I agree. Depending on their personality,

most bad guy side-kicks appear to be “crippled” and villainous on the outside, but are just the

opposite internally.

As for Bartok, well…he is adorable. Like you said, he did get his own movie called

Bartok the Magnificent. It was one of those films that I hated, but it was so funny

that I couldn’t stop watching it. (snigger)

No way! And I thought I was the only one… Heheh.

hey, if it’s creepy, non-human and abused, I’m all over it XD.

Bartok had

a movie?? scratches head

Thanks to Mitch, I found this.

6. The Side-Kick Rule - If you are the

protagonist’s side-kick, you will probably end up assisting your hero/leader in some way or another, or will

save the day in some way or another. If you are the antagonist’s side-kick, there is a good chance that you will

either die or narrowly escape death at some point in the film.

Googly-Bear - Yep – he did, indeed, have his own movie.

Bartok the Magnificent

Surprisingly, it got

‘B’ ratings from viewers, which is way higher than I expected it to be. I used to have it on tape, actually,

but I watched it so much that it broke. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Star Swordsman - Haha – you

pasted that? I’m honored.

I forgot to add a little something to that statement, actually. It turns out

that, every once in a while, a villian’s side-kick will also change his/her ways by going against his/her

master’s wishes and saving/assisting the main protaganistic character. (Ie., Iago in The Return of

Jafar.)

I am thinking. Is the Side-kick rule really true? Does it

aply to all? Cause I think there is one that broke that rule sorta speak.

Oh yeah – are you kidding? There will definitely be

exceptions, certainly. But most of the time (and especially when dealing with Disney characters), the side-kick

rule usually works.

Well, i forgot which characters though.

you know, that’s kind of

what you wish will happen to all those side-kicks at the end. there great characters that make you laugh and

you hope that they will “see the light” at the end of the movie (like Iago) or at least have

something good happen to them, (like Bartok, he got a girlfriend XD)

then again, sometimes you wish

that the main villains that you really like would “change their ways” or at least get some kind of

good out of their struggles.

take my ever thirsting need for Persephone to show up in the Disney

Hercules Mythos. I mean… poor Hades, ;-; after swirling around in the river of styx he’s in dire need for

some lovin’s…

Heh. Is one of my life goals. He is my

friend after all.

Minions…I suppose…henchmen is more stock and Minion may point out special

individuals…yeah I can roll with that heh.

Star Swordsman
A good thing

to note is that Side-Kicks CAN ALSO turn to the darkside.

One person, rather raptor, that I can think up

is Dinobot from the Beast Wars series of Transformers. In the VERY first episode he switched from the evil side

to the good side. He keeps switching back and forth, untimately ending good.

So both sides can relatively

turn on one another.

Mitch

Things such as switching sides is a

delicate situation. For instance, Iago was forced into being a traitor at first, leading Aladdin into a situation

of nearly losing his head, literally, but ultimetly saves the day.

In switches I suppose there always has

to be that sign that the character/person IS sincerely trying their best to change their ways, good or bad,

before actually making the choice.

Well of course there are acceptions.
One may

be…
Unsure if it would actually “apply”, saying he wasn’t REALLY a “side-kick”, but

remember the Prospector from Toy Story?
Now…thinking on it…he was in a way a side-kick, as in the Woody’s

Round-up he was sorta Woody’s side-kick, along with Jessie. And he turned.

Googly-Bear

To

me…a true hero should face the true bad guy. They have NO idea of the situations the minions are in. They might

be following because they had nothing to believe in. They might be doing it so their head-honco doesn’t hurt

anyone they love. Nobody knows.

Persephone?

Persephone?

clears throat in Greek Mythology, Persephone was the goddess of spring and rebirth,

Hades kidnapped her and made her his queen in the myth. for more info… go here —>

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persephone

^__^;; I’m a big fan of Greek Myths.

Ah…usually very good with my Greek. Must’ve missed a

person.
