Um, well, the only ‘major’ rollercoaster I’ve been on
is Nemisis in Thorpe Park, but compared to some of the ones in America, it’s probably just a baby. ![]()
I really don’t know. But I like California
Screaming. And at 6 Flags, I like the Scream Roller Coaster. There is just so many.
I haven’t really been to a
whole lot of parks aside the two near me, but I love those two parks, so I’m pretty happy. Kings Dominion and
Busch Gardens Willaimsburg. As for my favorite roller coaster itself, Alpengeist at Busch Gardens, hands down.
I love upside-down-ness, and getting loads of upside-down-ness and a smooth ride just can’t be beat.
I’ve only been to Canada’s
Wonderland. They have some cool rides there… Vortex, The Bat… I have yet to ride Top Gun. I’m not that
comfortable with those kind of crazy rides just yet. Maybe next summer. ![]()
I’ve only been on the Roller Coaster at my local Amusement Park, Castles ‘n’
Coasters, with a coaster called, “Desert Storm.” It’s a fun ride, with two loops, but nothing too
impressive.
Other than that, I’ve done all the Coasters that were around 1998 at Disneyland expect the
“Go Go Gadget’s Roller Coaster” Everytime we tried to get on it, there’s always been some technical
issue happening!
But the one Coaster I’d LOVE to go on one day, even if I have to work myself up to it,
is “X” at Six Flags (Magic Mountain?? Not too sure . . .)
Space Mountain is pretty much awesome, the speed, the smooth turns… the music! The music,
btw is by the same guy who made the music for The Incredibles. I went to D-land with marching band once and we
rode it and all they could say is… “Wow! The music was awesome!”
There’s this one coaster as
Knott’s Berry Farm that’s new and it’s really fun. I can’t remember what it’s called though… but there’s
a lot of swiveling and… just a rush. Heh.
Magnum at Cedar Point is not too
shabby… but I have to say I liked Millennium Force better. Not only is it higher and faster, but the ride is
ridonkulously smooth. I was shocked at how smooth it was. Magnum seemed massively jerky in
comparison.
Ahh, Cedar Point. Haven’t been since Freshman orientation, won’t be there again until
Commencement week.
Survivor: The Ride.
At Paramount’s Great America
(the biggest theme park in Northern California, if I remember correctly), they have the world’s first
“reality coaster.” It’s an amazing ride. Someone’s posted a (somewhat pixelated) video of the ride
here.
But what makes the ride so cool is the pre-ride
stuff. You walk through this Survivor camp-style set up, with pictures of all the seasons, and video from
different Survivors talking about the experience, and Jenna (from Survivor: Amazon
and All-Stars) and Ethan (from Survivor: Africa and
All-Stars) explaining the rules of the ride. Once you get to the main
“house,” the ride attendant puts you into a color, circles of which you stand on while you wait for
your turn to ride. Jenna and Ethan tell you that you are in a tribal competition against the “tribe”
that is currently riding the ride and you must clap, stomp, and call out to the beat, and if you reach a certain
sound level (there are sensors in the house), then the tribe riding the coaster will get sprayed by water from
some tiki heads decorating the ride itself. Once the ride is over, the tribe before you gets off, you get on, and
the next group in line will try to soak you.
The coolest part is that the park had a "Great America
Survivor" contest, where people would answer questions, and then you could go and vote for the best answer.
The winner would be named one of 16 “Great America Survivors,” and win a trip to a
Survivor: Exile Island finale party (where they’d show the finale live - on the
East Coast feed) and 4 tickets to the park. I was either the 15th or the 16th winner, and Lex (from Survivor:
Africa) was there for the party as well, but my family bumped into him that afternoon, and
my sister and I got our picture taken with
him.
So, long story short, Survivor: The Ride is the best rollercoaster out there, and if you ever
get a chance to go to Paramount’s Great America, go, and ride Survivor.
I’ve been to Castles ‘n’ Coasters. But I went when I was in 8th grade and was too
chiken to ride that one. :3
And I’ve been on “X” at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Best. Thing. EVERR.
If you ever get to go again, RIDE it!! Definitely worth the 3 hours waiting in line. I loved the swing-like
seats. When you take a plunge, your seat turns downward and you can see the ground as you make the drops. Right
now, I’m interested in checking out Tatsu. That looks awesome, too. Looks very much like “X” with the
seats designed to give you that “flying” sensation.
Favorite
rollercoasters: Ghost Rider and Xcelerator at Knott’s Berry Farm. Get on all the rides during
night. They go faster!
From Six Flags Magic Mountain: X and Goliath. Batman,
Riddler’s Revenge, Scream, Deja Vu, etc all seemed pretty much the same to me.
JamieLew: You mean Xcelerator? It’s been 3 years since I went, so they
might have another new one.
I love fast rollercoasters, just as long as they don’t go
upside down.
WildCat in Hershey Park was a bit too fast for me- at least the last time I went. I nearly
clashed skulls with my best mate! ![]()
I did enjoy The Big Bad Wolf in Busch Gardens. This was back
when I lived in America for a few years. I remember it was the best at night because it zig-zagged you through
this village and the windows were lit and it was cool.
Rockin’ Roller Coaster in Disney world was cool
too. It had a loop but I hadn’t noticed since it was in the dark with neon lights.
Really? Wow, I need to stay past dark next
time I go!
Thanks for letting me know, I seriously never knew that.
I’m guessing you probably
enjoyed Apollo’s Chariot there, too, if you said that you like 'em fast? ![]()
I went on Apollo’s Chariot once, but it’s been so long I can barely recall
it. I remember it being fun. ^^ And my dad was scared out of his wits. Could barely stand once he got off!

Ditto. I’m not
fond of that sensation and I don’t think loops are very much fun.

Oh I was dragged on the Super Dooper Looper, or
something like that, at Hershey Park. Only had one loop and it didn’t effect me until after I’d gotten off the
ride. ![]()
I went to the local Sloe
Fair last week, and although there aren’t any major rollercoasters there, there’s some pretty fast and nasty
rides. There was a ride that spun around so much, my friend squished me because of the G-force. ![]()
I go absolutely nuts over rollercoasters – the higher and faster…the better.
And
I’m sorry guys, but the Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California is
the best rollercoaster out there. It’s got heartloops, regular loops, barrel rolls,
spins, curves, turns, drops…everything. The adrenaline rush from the experience will leave you shaking for
minutes afterward, and the G-forces are enough to entice any coaster fanatic to ride it constantly, over and over
again…

My heart is with “X”. :3 Nah, I
agree though. Viper may not be my absolute favorite, but it definitely kicks arse. Now
those loops I don’t mind. And is it just me, or do they up the speed during the
nighttime on ALL the rides? Because it definitely feels like it to me…
DoubleLatte - Haha – I hear ya’. Me? I wouldn’t go on the ‘X’ even if you paid
me… ![]()
And yes, I also speculate that they increase the speed of all the rides during the night hours
of the park (especially Goliath). The park operators might deny it, but I would
still be rather suspicious.
Mitch: I’m totally with you. X is fun to look at, but
I won’t go anywhere near it.
