Frozen (The Snow Queen)

What did you guys think of [spoil]the twist?[/spoil]

The [spoil]villain reveal[/spoil] still has me feeling out in the cold. It was just kind of bizarre and and uneventful,[spoil]like a twist for a twist’s sake[/spoil]. If anything, [spoil]Hans should of been given a better reason for his heel-turn, maybe because he truly believed Elsa was a menace (you know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that).[/spoil] As of now, I think it’s pretty lame.

Personally, [spoil]I saw it coming a mile away, but I’m not very bothered by it. It was predictable, but I can appreciate it since it added to the feeling of desperation and urgency in that part of the movie.[/spoil]

Woah! :open_mouth:

I know right! Rapunzel <3

Do you mean you thought [spoil]Hans being a villain[/spoil] was predictable? Why is that? I’m just wondering.

Well yes and no. I didn’t know that [spoil]Hans was going to be the main villain. I figured there would be something wrong with him and that Anna would change her mind about him and dump him, since I’ve just seen a lot of movies where the “perfect” guy turns out to be not so great at the end. But I didn’t think he would try to do stuff like kill Elsa or anything like that, though. So in a way, I was surprised, but in a way, I wasn’t. I knew he would not end up with Anna, but I didn’t know how villainous he could get.[/spoil]

Oh, I actually thought along the same lines. [spoil]When she very first met him, I was like “Oh cool, it’s nice that she met a guy like she wanted to.” But, as she kept talking to him and he started acting overly nice and asking her to marry him, I started thinking he might be too superficial and naïve, and maybe too good to be true, but not a villain in any way. But when Anna was riding with Kristoff and he was saying that marrying someone you just met was a bad idea, I realized he was a better guy. At that point, I thought either Anna or Elsa might end up liking him. I also thought it was possible that Hans would end up being as good as he seems and maybe show that he was more mature, so Anna might still like him.[/spoil]

Quick little side note.

[spoil]You could tell that the Kristoff-Hans punch was cut out of the movie, because when Hans wakes up on the boat, he has his hands on his chin.[/spoil]

I wonder if we’ll get an extended version sometime soon.

I really, really liked this movie. Strangely enough, Olaf might be one of my favorite of recent Disney sidekicks—he had such a dark sense of humor, lol! His song was even one of my favorites, but the whole thing really played out well as a musical. I sort of wish I hadn’t [spoil]gotten Hans’ twist revealed to me before seeing the movie, but I suppose it wasn’t that hard to figure out.[/spoil]

A lot of people complain about the addition of ‘love interests’, but I didn’t mind at all— especially considering [spoil]the most that truly happens is Krystoff giving Anna a kiss when it’s revealed the like each other. The central theme of love was still sisterly love as it is in the original fairy tale, and I don’t feel like any of that core theme was stripped away by adding this.[/spoil]

The animation and rendering is also some of the most beautiful I’ve seen in a CG movie! Especially [spoil]Elsa’s ice castle; there was so much visual splendor in those scenes.[/spoil]

…But now… (heaving sigh) I really want the Disney Store dolls after seeing this. The character and costume design is just so lovely, it is so hard for me not to want them!! Argh.

I haven’t read the original story, so I might not have the whole picture, but [spoil]I thought there was a lot less romance then there could have been, and less than I expected. I thought they would each like one of the guys. I liked how Anna ended up liking a different guy, and that Elsa didn’t like anyone. I also liked that about Merida.[/spoil]

I want the dolls so badly too. I hope they restock Elsa. :frowning: I’m also worried that [spoil]knowing that thing about Hans[/spoil] will make me like the movie less than I would have. Sure I’ll still love it though.

Amy: I agree

IV: [spoil]Although I would have preferred not to have known beforehand, it didn’t ruin anything for me. The movie has a lot good going on that makes it worth seeing even if certain plot points have been spoiled for you.[/spoil]

Also, am I the only one who feels the whole film would adapt really well to broadway?? The songs and the pacing feel very musical-esque.

Well I finally got to see it and I quite enjoyed it. There were a few things I would have changed, and some bits did seem a little reminiscent of Tangled, but that didnt stop me from liking it. I think the Let It Go song was my favorite. It seemed like there was a lot more singing in general, like even for a Disney musical it seemed like there was more singing. Which is fine, its just something I noticed.

My only disappointment is that [spoil]Hans didn’t have a villain song.[/spoil] 8D

Saw this on Christmas for the second time! It’s in town now, so I might try for a 3rd viewing and try to convince my friend who doesn’t like Disney to go see it with me. I loved it ever more the second time around!

Though, on the way out, I heard some guy say “This is a good movie for sisters, but not for other kids.” :frowning: But it was still a lot of fun.

I’m glad you got to see it again, too! I liked it even more on my second viewing as well. Also, that’s a silly comment!! I’ve seen on both viewings quite a few boys that seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Also, I can’t get those Disney Store dolls out of my mind. I really want them…

OMG yer right! [spoil]All that singing and I dont think there was a villain song[/spoil]

I saw it in the theater! I thought it was perfect, except that[spoil]maybe this movie didn’t need a villain[/spoil].
