Frozen (The Snow Queen)

Or anyone who has loved a sister, or anyone who has loved family.

Yes, I don’t think a film is just for girls because its main characters are female.

We all enjoyed it a lot, specially thematically. Maybe because because we’re all very close siblings and the film touched us.

Well that is great! I’m glad it was so well received

Although I wish Monsters U could have enjoyed some success at the Annies, I am more than okay with Frozen doing so well. It is a movie worthy of its acclaim.

Saw the movie a while ago with my mom in the cinema! I loved it even if mom wasn’t too thrilled in the end. She’s not big on musicals… but dad didn’t wanna go either and heck if they let me go on my own! xP

So yeah I thought it was cool and I rather liked the songs, even in Dutch.

I didn’t expect to like Olaf as much as I did - in fact, both me and my mom agreed he was the best character. I also thought he also had, by far, the best voice actor in the Dutch dub. :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw Frozen 2 weeks ago. It’s the 4th non-Pixar computer animated film I saw from Disney. The other 3 are Dinosaur, Tangled, and Wreck-It Ralph.

I’m yet to see the movie in full! But I’ve watched so many clips and read the synopsis I feel like I’ve watched it already! Can’t go see it in theatres but when it’s released I’ll get it then!

Congrats to Frozen on going two for two at the Oscars winning Disney Animation’s first Best Animated Feature and their eighth Best Original Song for Let it Go, first since Tarzan!

I’ve got church friends, school friends, classmates bursting into Frozen songs at almost any chance. And mostly teenagers, too! Including my guy friends! And a lot of people love and resonate with Let It Go. Including teen guys. I’m really glad that a Disney movie with a princess could reach so many people again. Even those who aren’t as big on Disney as I am to already know it’s not just for little girls.

First time I watched it was with a group of friends, on the day it came out. That was fun (except the theatre was so crowded we had to split up to get seats! But we still had fun anyway). I watched it a second time with someone I’m in a discipleship with, who’s like an older sister to me. And then I watched it a third time later with my little sister and mom. Each time I feel was special, as we could relate to different things. My mom cried, by the way. It’s really not just for kids.

I love the original The Snow Queen fairy tale, so I was disappointed at first that they took so much out. But then when I realized that [spoil]Elsa was BOTH the Snow Queen AND Kai, fighting herself, that made it much deeper for me and I love that Disney added another layer to the story[/spoil]. And I love some little parts of the instrumentals. And the animation of the snow. And the [spoil]way that for once it’s not romantic love, and the villain can be good-looking and more deceiving, and Elsa hurts people by mistake but is still a good person at heart, like Stitch[/spoil]. I also love how there’s just a wide range of people that can relate to something from Anna and/or Elsa. I feel like this movie explored a lot.

[spoil]It did feel a bit rushed in pacing, though, like I wanted just a little more encounters before reaching the ice castle, and Anna swooning after Fixer Upper and turning serious again. And the transition to songs were a bit awkward like Anna switching on and off from singing to speaking in the Reprise.[/spoil] But overall I enjoyed it and will be watching it again and again!

^I agree with everything you said. What did you think of the villain? [spoil]I think making him the villain was an okay choice that could have been great. But I find the execution of his turn sorely lacking.[/spoil]

Some people were saying that Elsa was wrong about how she treated those guys, and that she “turned into a monster” and stuff like that. :imp: Umm, what?? It was self defense!!! :imp:

Ugh that’s like people saying she’s a bad role model because of her sex appeal. :unamused: What?!

Uhmmm, they were literally trying to assassinate her. :open_mouth: I don’t exactly think she was wrong for trying to protect herself. Ridiculous.

IV: lolwhat??? I’ve not heard of this. Don’t a lot of Disney girls have that…appeal to them, though? In a subtle way, not an “in-your-face” kind of way. :unamused:

Yes, I would say most Disney heroines do. And Else’s is very subtle too. I saw many whiny parents on NPR saying Elsa was a bad image for kids because f her makeup and dress slit—which only goes to her knee, by the way.

Little kids wear skirts and dresses up to their knees, so I don’t see why that’s a problem.

Complaining about her makeup of all things is especially silly. She’s an ADULT! (Also, what is NPR, not to get off-topic or anything?)

National Public Radio

So I was looking into maybe getting a Disney Store Elsa online somewhere since my shelf seems a little lonely with only Anna. Boom, $50+ everywhere, for a doll that was once sold for $17 at the Disney Store as a CHILD’S TOY, not a collectable! This is nuts! Why didn’t they make more? I really hope a second wave comes or something, because I badly want one…

Yes yes yes I agree. One time they restocked her, and 24 hours later when I went to order she was gone already! Why won’t they meet demand?

I got the Frozen Blu-Ray for Easter and I gotta say, I’m not too impressed with the bonus features. In that, there really arent any, except maybe one thats of any value. Based on what I’ve heard, I guess Disney plans to double dip and release a ‘bigger and better’ version sometime in the future.

^ I wasn’t impressed with the Blu-Ray bonus features, either. I eventually just decided to buy the DVD.
