Happy Feet

The Star Swordsman - Heh –

I figured as much.

I am still trying to convince my mom that Happy Feet is a

film worth seeing. So far, she refuses to watch it until it comes out on dvd. She has her reasons… Heh.

I went and saw

it what…last week? Anyways yea it was pretty good, me being comedy hungry loved Ramon and his amigos, Lovelace

adding to the mix picked up the movie too. 8D Only thing was jus a lil too much singing for my taste. :unamused:

i forgot to post for this movie . it was o.k. , but the ending was very confuzzling .

[spoil] they had very good timing , until they did that zoo scene . Then it all went too fast

! [/spoil]

and what u said about happy feet and cars mitch , to that i give a loud GASP !

:open_mouth:

I saw this the day before Thanksgiving and I liked it a lot!
I liked the fact that

there was some enviornmentalist stuff going on but… it did kinda take over the story unexpectedly. I liked all

the penguin dancing. And the singing. It made me laugh everytime because they had animated the most awkward

animal to sing… their beaks and pointed structure of their mouths make it seem awfully hard.

Baby Mumble

was so much cuter than adult Mumble. Heheh…

The environmentalism really annoyed me - not that it was

in there but I think they sacrificed story and quality for the moral. During the credits I thought I was gonna

see Al Gore listed as a producer LOL!

Wait,

they sacrificed the story? How can you do that? Won’t the film turn out to be not as good as it can?

Dash - I haven’t seen this

yet, although hopefully I will today, but I am a bit nervous about the ending. I’ve heard that the story

completely changes, and goes from, “Mumble must be himself!” - to - "HUMANZ ARE EEEVVVILLL!!!111

SAVE DA FISHES!!!11 SAVE DA PENGUINS!!22" I have nothing wrong with environmental messages, but when they

are so blatantly obvious to the point where they’re controversial, THAT bothers me. If you want an eco-friendly

message, do it so it’s there, but less-noticeable so it doesn’t get in the way with the story (Ala Over The

Hedge). Again, I still haven’t seen it, so I will withhold my real judgment until

then.

What he’s saying is that instead of focusing on the original

message, the film decided that it was more important to start screaming about protecting the environment than

delivering a satisfying ending to Mumble’s ‘being yourself’ gig.

Hey guys,

Quick question for those of you who saw

the film:

[spoil] How did Mumbles escape from the zoo toward the end of the film? Did the Big

Bad Humans take pity on him and ship him back to Antarctica? This part baffled me![/spoil]

I

saw it on Sunday and was it was really something! I enjoyed it as thoroughly as any of the Pixar films

Thanks,
Christine

To answer

your question…

[spoil] The humans were amazed with Mumble’s dancing talent and they

“listened” to him. But basically, yeah, they took pity on him and decided it would be a wonderful idea

for them to research penguins in their natural habitat.[/spoil]

Cool, thanks!

I thought that was the explanation!

Here’s my review of Happy Feet:

My expectations were high, after hilarious trailers, a nice

marketing and great reviews. But, after leaving the theatre, I said to myself: This movie was amazing.

When you watch Happy Feet, you probably have to accustom yourself to the style of the movie: The mixture

of realistic (penguins, life of the penguins, humans) and of completely non-realistic stuff (singing, dancing).

But if you accustomed yourself to the style, then you’ll discover a whole new way of an animated movie. Such a

movie was never done before!

Happy Feet is the story of Mumble. And even in the early, sad parts of the

movie you feel touched, you feel the heart of the movie. And then, the next scene is again a fantastic musical

number!! That’s again a mix of Happy Feet: the sad story of Mumble and the music, which makes you wanna stand up

und dance! (That’s probably what I’m going to do when I have it on DVD  )

The trailers were

hilarious, so: Is the movie hilarious too?
Many expected a very funny movie, and in some parts I really

laughed so much (My waaaay…, the Amigos) But the heart-parts remain to be the most.

And now, I come to

the end of the movie, which was so strong: (SPOILER!)
When Mumble is in the zoo, you really feel how he

feels. And then, swoosh-swoosh, he’s back to his colony. That was pretty fast and I had a few question, but I

didn’t care about those questions when the end arrived. And the end worked very, very well.

Bottom Line:

Happy Feet is funny, heart-warming, fresh, informatory and just A GREAT MOVIE!!!
One of the best movies

this year, and in my top 25 animated movies of all time.

Happy Feet (german version, but the songs were

OV)
A+

Groaning - Wonderful! I am glad that you came out of the theater with the same

feeling of joy and excitement that I experienced.

I wasnt sure

whether to see this one or not. But only cuz Robin Williams was in it

Who did Steve Irwin play? I heard he voiced in the movie before his little

tragedy?

He

played one of those big brown ugly faced things wit the obvious Aussie accent. He goes by the name of Trev.

please, tell me 'bout this movie, I hadn’t seen it yet,

I want spoilers!!

The Star Swordsman - As

Pixfan described, Steven Irwin did the voice of one of the elephant seals in the film. I always clap when his

name is shown in the end credits. (sigh)

CarFreak - Viola’:

[spoil]Mumble is the offspring of two emperor penguins, named Memphis and Norma Jean. A slight

accident during the winter months – in which Memphis accidentally dropped his egg, which is supposedly forbidden

in the Emperor Land – caused Mumble to turn out a bit different from the other penguins. You see, in order to

attract a soul mate, a penguin needs to have his or her own heartsong; however, Mumble just so happens to be the

most horrible singer in his clan. On the plus side, he is an excellent tap dancer!

His childhood days

were spent in the back of the singing class or alone in the open, away from the rest of his family and friends,

where he could play out his talent in peace. Away from judging eyes, young Mumble found a place one day were he

could tap-dance at will. His fun is soon cut short, however, when a skua brid and his fellow mates drop in on him

to hopefully make a little meal out of Mumble. In a desperate attempt to escape, Mumble points out to the head

skua a yellow ring attatched to his leg. The head skua explains to Mumble how his frighteneing tale of how he was

captured and released by “aliens”. Mumble points out that the “aliens” the situation could

have been worse: that they could have eaten the skua. The skua agrees in that the “aliens” must have

appealed to his better nature. Mumble asks the skua the same question: "Can I appeal to your better

nature?" The skua refuses, and Mumble just manages to escape the fate of being someone’s dinner, before the

skuas finally give up and fly off. Mumble, cold and frightened, weeps in fear and agony, but he never forgets

what the skua told him about the “aliens”…

A few years later, Mumble is now an adolescent, as

are many other young penguins that hatched around the same time he did, including Gloria, Mumble’s best friend

and the most spectacular singer around. On their “graduation” day, Mumble tries in vain to sing along

with his peers, but to no avail. As a matter of fact, his singing is so bad that the other penguins urge him to

“take a hike”, so to speak. While Gloria and the other penguins sing their hearts out on a nearby

glacier, Mumble watches from afar, pearched on his own, rather small, ice block.

Morning dawns the next

day, and Mumble is awakened by a slight jerk – his ice block is being simultaneously pushed by something, or

someone, underneath it. Mumble, thinking that his friends are playing a joke on him, peers over the edge of his

platform, only to encounter a humungous leopard seal who is quite keen on eating him. A spectacular chase ensues

underneath and over the icy water, Mumble just barely escaping by jumping up onto shore…just at the last

moment. Almost at the instant he hops to safety does he meet a band of “amigoes”, little penguins who

are worry about nothing except how good their dances moves are and how hilarious they can make themselves appear;

and they do just that…

It turns out that they “amigoes”, led by Ramon, are captivated by

Mumble’s superior dance moves, so much so that Ramon points out that Mumble has "more charisma than

anybody". Needless to say, Mumble is ecstatic that he has now found a clan that accepts his "flipping

feet".[/spoil]

That is only half of the film. If you would like the other half, just let

me know!

[b]Great 1st half review Mitch! If you

don?t mind I my self would like to hear the 2nd half of the movie review.
