SoA - I had noticed that [spoil]it ended with the same piece of music as the first film ended[/spoil]. It brought a smile on my face
Yes. It’s grand, because it actually was the main musical theme for Harry and his friends in the first two films (even if Hedwig’s Theme became more famous), but they never used it again. Maybe that played in their favor, cause now it’s more nostalgic and emotional than ever.
Nineteen yeaars later…in real life time is six years from now!
And now i want to write a fanfic of Bellatrix’ “We won! We won!” being true, and how life is nineteen years later on Earth.
Well, they deleted “We won” at the end. They shot it, but didn’t make it to the final cut.
Thank goodness, cause Bellatrix personality in the movies annoys me. “I killed Sirius Black!” all time was unbearable.
It should be in the deleted scenes, then.
And my sister loves the line about killing Sirius Black. If she ever has a daughter, she’s going to name her Bellatrix.
It may be, but probably it’s just in the B-roll. You can watch it in You Tube.
Just got back from seeing it with my uncle, and words cannot describe how awesome it was.
It was AMAZING. I loved all the effects, the acting, the loyalty to the books, and especially all the continuity gags thrown in for nostalgic value.
Uhm… Where?
Some lines and sequences were taken directly from the book. Sure, many things were different (was it really necessary to throw in a random Neville/Luna romance just to please the fans?) but the important things were not fiddled with and the stuff added was, in my opinion, pretty darn good.
Now that I think of it, though, yeah, the extended snake killing and jump cliff was…not needed. But I guess they were trying to make the climax more exciting then “Harry makes a grand speech and kills Voldie”
While I think it’s a pretty darn good, film, I digress about important plot not being changed. Some of the most vital pieces of information were either omitted or changed [spoil](the Elder Wand development, Harry surviving because of the blood, Dumbledore’s back story, the other Deathly Hallows, specially the cloak…)[/spoil]
Of course some lines are taken from the book. There are always some of those. But in this film, these were very few. And yes, the [spoil]Luna-Neville thing was vomit inducing.[/spoil]
Yes, what Spirit pointed out about the score was very nostalgic.
I saw this last night and really enjoyed it! Not my favourite Harry Potter film-I thought part 1 was stronger in acting, writing and directing-but it’s well up there, and I teared up at the end.
What annoyed me, and others have mentioned it, is the fact that some aspects had changed. Like the confrontation between Harry and Voldermort at the end was really odd, and they really should’ve kept it with the book. Like, what happened to Harry trying to reason with him?
I actually didn’t spot the Neville/Luna thing , so shows how much I was paying attention. I loved the inclusion of the majority of characters, but a lot of them disappointingly appeared out of nowhere towards the end, like Hagrid, or were a bit unessacery and were just lingering in the background for the entire film, such as Professer Slughorn. And not to mention the whole film felt very rushed, like the scene in Gringots could’ve been a lot longer, and if you hadn’t read the book, you’d be baffled with a lot of what was going on aswell.
However, I digress; I pretty much adored everything else. The acting was spot on! The characters I thought were just right, and Neville in paticular was brilliant. The with Harry watching Snape’s memories was so poignant that I was bawling . The cinematography was beautiful, and the writing was not bad at all. The score was also brilliant, and especially as Spirit picked up on, the use of the original final score at the end was really well put in. Seriously, I loved this, bar a few niggles.
One thing I have to say though, I was surprised that [spoil]Mrs. Weasly’s line towards the end even made it in, because that was probably one of the most unexpected moments in the whole book, and then as soon it showed her and Bellatrix, I was thinking “Come on, say it,” and when she said it, I was like “Yes!”[/spoil] Seriously though, this movie is the perfect conclusion to one of the best selling movie/book series of all time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it became the highest grossing film of all time.
^ People always applaud when she says it.
I know, although at my theater, little to no people reacted, except for me of course. LOL
Oh. I was in one of those theaters with an emotional audience that applauded every time McGonagall opened her mouth, and stuff.
^ lol, that’s one of my favorite parts of the whole sixth movie. Oh Felix
My theater was like that too! It was amazing. Words can’t even describe how much I adored every moment of it. The Mrs. Weasley line was classic, and I literally jumped out of my seat when she said it. I remember it as one of my favorite lines in the book, and I was so happy when she got to say it! And McGonagall’s [spoil]“I’ve always wanted to use that spell!”[/spoil] got a lot of cheers from my theater.
We got there like three hours early, and all these people came in throwing Quaffles around, and some people did the Mysterious Ticking Noise and others did the Voldy/Harry rap battle Our projector wasn’t working though, and it started maybe ten minutes late. But the crowd was awesome and entertaining but I was so scared that it wasn’t going to work. I mean, midnight showing and no working projector? But they got it up and running by the end
Anyways, I bawled the whole time. Non-stop. It was beautiful, every minute, and I loved the throwback to the old score at the end. Everything was perfect, and heart warming, and just magnificent. I didn’t even stop crying when we left the theater, and then some stranger came up to me and they were a mess to and they were like, “You’re not alone.”
Yeah, they did leave out a lot of important stuff, but I think they did it right. The timing was perfect IMO, I never got bored.
I just have to get used to the fact that it’s over. I still can’t believe it, sitting here four days later. I haven’t once stopped thinking about it. It’s the end of an era. Truly.
^Longest post I’ve ever done
Oh my God, I LOVED all of McGonagall’s lines! She’s actually my favorite character, and I missed her so much in the last movie. That was what bugged me the most about Part 1; it didn’t really feel like a Harry Potter film. It was a good film, but the magic was kind of lackluster and any of the atmospheric wonderment (that ministry was ridiculously Mugglish) was pretty much gone. However, for this film, it gained it all back without ruining the darkness or emotional significance.
I did wish they had kept in McGonagall’s line “The head master has left the building” though…
