Rowling like bowling…
Does anybody out there listen to either Pottercast or Mugglecast? I’m a Pottercast
fan myself, mainly because they’re just so darn funny and I think they really get into the book and there’s
always someone I side with. I also like the fact that I can easily distinguish each person’s voice which is
harder in Mugglecast where they’re all teenage boys…
I’m neither
. . . but I do visit Mugglenet daily. Sadly, no news on Book 7 or the next W.O.M.B.A.T.

I like the first, third, and fifth
books best, and as for the movies, I prefere the fourth.
It seems you like odd numbered books, Meg! Heh. I
like the later books the best, especially the 6th. Everything is just angsty in the 5th… and everything before
that is somewhat lacking in the writing taste that is later developed by Rowling. I just recently re-read the
first book and it all felt a little… light to me.
Although I still think the 2nd book is the scariest
with the basilisk…
I tend to get really hyped up about a month or so before a book release and a few weeks before a movie release,
then stay a huge gigantic fan for a few months afterwards, and then it just kind of dissapates until the next
book or movie…
I discovered Mugglecast after the 6th book, which kept me an HP fanatic for a few months
longer than I usually am, but that too eventually dropped to the wayside. Book 7 is probably going to be the
first time I go to a midnight release, partly because HBP has been my favorite so far and that’s kept me more of
a fan during the “off-season,” and partly because it’s going to be the last one and I figure I should
go to a midnight release just to see what it’s like.
HBP is my favorite, as I already said, and OotP
would be second, just because I think they’re the two books where you can really start seeing loose ends being
tied together and everything really starts leading up to the big climactic ending. Actually, now that I think
about it, my order of favorite to least favorite goes straight on down the line from 6 to 1… How about
that…
Your satisfied with each new book!! That’s something to proud of!!
On HP news: It’s Ginevra Weasley’s
Birthday today!!
I discovered Mugglenet about a few months after OOTP book release: My countdown clock
before that was Leaky.
I went to the midnight release for HBP, feeling that if I couldn’t make it to the
7th Book Midnight Release, I would at least have the 6th book down!!
I’ve always wanted to go to the midnight release, but alas, having an older sister kinda
ruins it. If you have an older sibling equally obsessed with Harry Potter, you’ll find that no matter how hard
you try she’ll always get to read it first
. I almost went for HBP but realized there wouldn’t be anything
to do there seeing as… we wouldn’t want two of the same books (especially since they’re rather pricey…). I
usually get to read it the day of the release though since my sister reads it straight all night long.
How long does it usually take you guys to read the books?
With HBP it took me about 2 days… but
this is with the fact that I was trying to savor the book… I failed miserably.
I think with OotP it took
me more like 2 weeks just because there was a lot of dead time in that book where you were like, woah there
Harry…
Here are my first time-read through times. Note: First four are estimate!!
SS: (Back
in 2000) Three Weeks
CoS: (Back in 2000) Three Weeks
PoA: (Back in 2000) 1 Month
GoF: (Back in 2000) 1
1/2 Months
OoTP: (Back in 2003) 3 Days, 3 Hours
HBP: (Back in 2005) 2 Days
I never got to read new
HP book on the day of the release. Reason is, the first three I read after they were released by a few years.
By the time I finished PoA the first time around, July 8th’s release of GoF was LONG gone.
And every time
a new book came out, I HAD to read the first ones all over again. So by the time I finished GoF in 2003, June
21st’s release of OoTP was LONG gone as well.
And rereading the first five by July 15 was simply insane
for me. I missed that deadline too, though I did by HBP on Midnight. I just couldn’t read it!!
So you
can see my goal for Seven is to go to the Midnight release and HAVE the FIRST SIX books done by the time it’s
07/07/07 . . . or whenever it comes out!

I love HP. The third
book and movie are my favrite. POA rocks!! I love Padfoot!
Oh dear I have no idea how long the first 4
books took me… that was so long ago…
I picked up the first book in the paperback US edition when I was
in 2nd grade… but the first chapter is awfully hard to get into… so I dont think
I actually started reading the book in all of its goodness until like… 3rd grade. (I got into the book by
flipping to a random page and getting interested and going back and reading all the way through).
After
that I gobbled up the next two… probably 2-3 weeks each… and in the middle of the 3rd book the 4th was
released. 4th book… er… no idea how long that took. Because I was obsessed by this point but the 4th is the
start of the “fat book” part of the series… so yeah.
I’d actually argue that PoA was the
beginning of the fat book trend.
US Versions:
SS: 309
CoS: 341
PoA: 432
GoF: 734
OotP:
894 (SO CLOSE to 900!!)
HBP: 672
Yeah, GoF was 300 some pages more than PoA, but SS & CoS have
nearly indentical spine widths.
I agree that PoA is indeed fat but compared to the later few it is absolutely on
a Jenny Craig diet!
Yeah. My first impression from Goblet of Fire is that the first three books combined could fit snugly inside
its cover!
I like Harry Potter, and am dying for the last book, seeing as how Half-Blood Prince initiated
the final rising action of the series. I’m slightly creeped out, however, by the HP 'Shipping Community. Don’t
get me started on how militant Harry/Hermione shippers seem to be…
Lol, in the
words of Emerson, “Delusional!”

lol I was just about to ask if anywone listened to
PotterCast or MuggleCast. Anyone here on The Leaky Lounge, too?
Pottercast fo sho! I’ve mentioned this before but I started with Pottercast
because I was recommended to it but I’ve never tried Mugglecast. I have a feeling I won’t like it as much just
because of the experiences I’ve heard whenever a few of them come on Pottercast. And they all sound the same
which bugs me when I can’t tell who’s talking (there’s a Lost Podcast out there somewhere and there’s like 5
guys at once and I’m so confused when I listen to it…)
I however will visit both Leaky News and
Mugglenet.
I don’t go to the Leaky Lounge though… just because.

I was a true Pottercast fan also, but with all the Leaky Mug Action, I decided
to check out MuggleCast. If you listen to it enough, you’ll be able to distinguish between the hosts (especially
Jamie, who has a British accent…) But really, it’s not all that different from PotterCast…
I’m sure eventually I would be able to distinguish them but you see… I’m rather lazy. And
I’m content with one Potter podcast a week.
Maybe in the future one day… but for now I shall listen to
my Melissa, Sue, and John. With a Daaaawwwlish.

lol. Don’t
forget Mr. Blood! I once thought that one potter podcast was enough too, but alas I was wrong. I like PotterCast
for the fact they have their extendable ears segment (and I found them first…) and I like MuggleCast for the
hosts’ personalities, and the fact that they are closer to my age. Like in episode #51 of MuggleCast, Ben Shane
couldn’t find a good wifi connection, so he ended up driving around and using someone else’s wifi while sitting
in his car.
Hahah! I’m sure I’ll eventually get around to listening to Mugglecast, especially since the latest LeakyMug
was so funny. But yes, the 50th Pottercast with the favorite moments! Mr. Blood… hahahah. My favorite was the
interview with Voldemort… I hadn’t heard a lot of their favorite moments because I started listening…
around episode 39 or something when I got an ipod.
