Harry Potter

Yay for you JamieLew.

Hahah… hooray?

I

started around episode 15 of PotterCast, and 50 of MuggleCast. They’re both awesome, and keep me tied over until

the next HP movie or book come out.

Oh… I love Harry Potter. Who doesnt? I’ve read all

of the books and seen all of the movies… But like someone else on here said. I like the books better because

they have more information and crap then the movies do>.<

Yeah, the books totally trump the movies, but it’s nice to see the cinama try to tackle such

an in-depth story in no more than 2 hours at a time.

Heh yeah. Just like the Narnia movies. Same thing as Harry

Potter.

I heard the 5th book is

actually condensed pretty well… I’m really excited.

I don’t know, what annoys me about the films – and

I can understand why they do it, but I don’t like it all the same – is all the

action sequences they add in, such as Harry’s grapple with the Hand of Glory in Chamber of

Secrets to add random suspence for no reason at all instead of the scene with Lucius and Draco

Malfoy which added, you know, plot. The dragon sequence in

Goblet of Fire really annoyed me – it doesn’t need to

be any scarier than it already is. I mean… it’s a frickin’ dragon! And I find it terribly hard to believe

that if a dragon tore free and started destroying a school in the attempt to kill and presumably devour a small

fourteen year old boy, a whole stadium full of teachers, government officials and dragon

tamers wouldn’t try to do anything about it. It really got my goat that the dragon was killed,

too. In the book, it was specifically mentioned that the dragon and the dragon eggs weren’t to be harmed.

Wasn’t it Cedric Diggory who lost loads of points when the dragon stomped on her eggs? I think killing a dragon

should at least have cost him a point or two.
If they’d cut that scene short by five minutes and lost

the whole tearing through the school shenanigans, they would have had more time and muuuuch more money to devote

to the rest of the story. I liked that they made the maze a bit scarier, but the underwater sequence was the

best by far, and much closer to the book, too.
Obviously they can’t fit in everything, and it would be a very

boring film if they did, but sometimes the things they add in are a bit… hmm…

Actually, it was

Viktor Krum.

Two main things anoy me about the GoF movie:

 1. The whole "What the? Where’d the

Quidditch go?" vibe when they suddenly skip the Quidditch match.

 1. Cutting out Fudge’s denial trip.

That forms the very foundation for a lot of what happens in OotP. I think it was silly to skip a plot point like

that.

That said, I thought Amos Diggory’s raw unconcealed grief over Cedric’s death was beautiful. It

got me all choked up.

On a mild side-line:

When somebody in the Wizarding World wants to refer to

Chuck Norris, they prefer to call him Lord Voldemort.

LOL!

Haha, oh well, I knew it was one of the boys! XD

I agree with the Qudditch

World Cup point. It still catches me by surprise. And I thought the end should have shown Bary Crouch,

Jr., being attacked by the Dementor – or they could have at least mentioned, like

the book did – along with Fudge’s scene. I can understand why they choose to devote some time at the end to

the trio talking, sort of ending on a lighter note, but they know they’re going to

make a new movie, why not set the scene for it? Order of the Phoenix might be

quite clunky now that they haven’t set anything up in context.
Still, some of GoF really exceeded my

expectations. The scene where Harry brought Cedric’s body back couldn’t have been more perfect. The happy

music all playing and everyone cheering while Harry cried over Cedric, it was a really clever way to do it. And

Ralph Fiennes made a surprisingly good Voldemort. XD

Ahhh… that

Cedric scene was perfect… I really got that feeling of grief from Harry and the confusion with the celebration

going on the background. I think that’s Dan’s best acting right there… it got me tearing (I think the first 3

times I watched it, too).

But yeah, I also agree that the 4th left out a lot of important plot lines…

not just minor ones. I thought the Barty Crouch storyline was really important in the book… basically because

it breaks down the character… and I think if I hadn’t read the book I would be really confused with why he

just died all of a sudden.

Even though there’s all these things I would fix with the movies… I’m

still VERY VERY VERY excited for the 5th. I can’t wait for the ministry of magic scene and Luna Lovegood (my

favorite character).

Yes, I’m still a fan of HP in its entirety that I’ll watch the movies as they

come out . . . I just probably won’t have that much ā€œReplay Reflexā€ on them. And mind you, I have a

pretty darn powerful Replay Reflex . . . some films and shows I’ve seen hundreds of times, and I’m willing to

watch them once more still . . . AND I still love them . . . never got tired!

(Gargoyles, (along with

countless others) anyone?)

OMG I’m totally a

replay person. There just are those moments where I want to watch a movie… but I’m not willing to commit

myself to concentrating on a new storyling. I told this to my friend once and she told me that if that was the

only thing she knew about me, she would believe me to be incredibly stupid.

But… I’ve seen

even Harry Potter more than my fair share. Heheh. I can basically recite to you the 2nd movie… and I don’t

even like the 2nd movie! Too much… Harry-touching-dead-peoples’-hands action going on there…

News: For those who love Harry Potter, (or just like a decent puzzle), the Room of Requirement is now open on

JKR’s Official Site!!

Once you get past the puzzle, you’ll be able to Take the Grade 2 of the

W.O.M.B.A.T (Wizard’s Ordinary Magic Basic Aptitude Test)

Remember, it’s NOT just a general HP Trivia

Test. The test treats you as if the entire HP universe was real!

I took it. I got ā€œExceed Expectationsā€ in the last one, but this one was

harder. I might scrape ā€œAcceptableā€.

For those not in the know:

Pass Grades
O -

Outstanding
E - Exceeds Expectations
A - Acceptable

Fail Grades
P - Poor
D - Dreadful
T -

Troll

I managed to scrape an Exeeds

Expectations for my Grade I test as well, but whoo, that was a hard one . . . I’m really worried what I’m going

to get now!!

Sigh…

"An evil attempt

to indoctrinate children in the Wicca religion"?! Is Harry Potter magic anything LIKE Wicca?

Apologies for the double post, but the W.O.M.B.A.T. results are in! I got "Exceeds

Expectations"!

What did you get?

I could not believe it when I saw it, but I actually got an Outstanding!!! I can’t beleive

my two scores are an E (Grade 1) and an O (Grade 2)!!

I so want to take the Grade 3 WOMBAT, but man is

THAT going to be hard!!!

Congrats on the E, RMS Oceanic!
