Harry Potter

How incredible

stunning it is that no one has of yet made a thread concerning Harry Potter. I am shocked beyond measure. :stuck_out_tongue:

In any case, onto the chase:

Who here loves J.K. Rowling’s Harry

Potter series? I have been absolutely in love with them ever since I read

Sorcerer’s Stone, and even more so considering that I have essentially "grown

up" with Harry on his travels, so to speak.

One of the main reasons why I rave over this enticing

series of novels is due to the fact that Hogwarts is like a second home to me – I became so involving in the

books that reading them became like a fantastic getaway after hours of dreary homework. I also seem to relate to

the title character, Harry Potter, in many ways…for some odd reason. I am the same age as him; my birthday is

three days after Daniel Radcliffe’s and three days before Harry Potter’s; I have been through more than the

normal teen has – not as much as Harry himself, but I can still see some resemblances; I’m skinny and my hair

(used to) fly all over the place (snigger); and I hardly have any friends at all: there are only two or three

people in the world whom I feel really close to.

As of today, my tally is as such, concerning the number

of times I have read each book:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s

Stone - 13-15
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets -

13-15
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - 14-16
Harry

Potter and the Goblet of Fire - 4-5
Harry Potter and the Order of the

Phoenix - 4-5
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -

5-6

I plan to read the seventh book just as many times as Half-Blood Prince

or more. My goal is to get to twenty (times) for all of the books.

My favorite book, so far, is

“Azkaban”, but that may all change when book 7 is released.
My

favorite characters are Fred and George, and for a good reason. (My sister and I are trouble-makers at times –

heheh.)

I am also a member of this wonderful website, although…I haven’t posted very much in a

long while: MuggleNet . My screen name there is

sniff4scabbers.

How about you guys? Are there any other fellow

Potter fans out there, or am I the only one?

I used to be a big fan of HP. That is until someone

spoiled the ending for me. So I decided not to read it anymore. Since then, I abandoned all of the series.

I used to love Harry Potter. Despite the unoriginal premise, the characters were very

captivating and I wanted to know what was going to happen to them. Then, they started making the films, which

pretty much spoilt the books for me. I’m pleased that JK Rowling has done well, but it’s become so commercial

now that it’s not as though when you read the book, you’re entering a new world which no-one else knows about.

Also, it really has been going on for too long- I remember the first book coming out when I was still in primary

school, so I guess I just had to move on.

They’re still good books, though, just much too

overpopularized.

The Star Swordsman -

Hmm…that’s too bad. Oh well, everyone has his/her own opinions.

lizardgirl - Yeah, I sort of know what you mean. I am rather displeased with

the films (except for “Azkaban”), simply because they do not follow the books as well as I thought they

would. I mean, they are good, but not “good enough” for my taste. Heh.

Well, I can kind of

agree with you there: the series has gone a little too commercial. I still love the books anyway, though.

I too agree with you Lizardgirl. I think maybe HP is maybe a little to “overpopularized”. Many people

have just turned it into a culture for them now. As for the movies, I thought they were okay. I like the 3rd and

4th one.

Have any of you seen the trailer for the fifth film? They showed it with Happy

Feet when I went to see it on Friday. It looks wicked, despite my disliking most of the other

Harry Potter movies…

Not yet. I’ll check it out on yahoo movies now.

I enjoy Harry Potter

, and I admit I used to think it was dumb .

But now I go crazy over the books and all the junk they sell

. One time I saw this necklace that was made to look exactly like the Time Turner . It was alot of money though .

i am also sad to admit that the movies got me into the books . i feel so ashamed .

Why would you feel ashamed? The movies got me into the books as

well… there’s nothing to be ashamed about.

It’s not my favourite series, but since my friends make

such a big deal about it (including the movies), I suppose it gets me into the mood. I really liked the 4th

movie, so I’m looking forward to the 5th. I also liked the 6th book… I think it’s my favourite. I don’t

usually read books twice… the same goes for the HP books, unless I want to remember what happens in a particular

book before watch the film. :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess another reason why I

abandoned the series was the movie. That took away a little bit of the “magic”.

MuggleNet huh?

Leaky Cauldron all the way for me… I also listen to PotterCast (and the LeakyMugs… for all you people thats

the podcast that Leaky Cauldron and MuggleNet do together)… Those two sites have to be the best for Potter

News…Always have to get my daily dose…

I find that the movies are completely different to the

movies… probably because they leave a lot of stuff out of the movies and most of the stuff is there for the

complete nutcase fans :unamused: (like me ;-p …okay there are bigger nutcases than me out there)

I got

started on Potter when my class teacher decided to read the first book to our class because she had heard that

Joe was compared to Roald Dahl… that seems forever ago

gottalovepixar:

there are whole websites devoted to the sale of Harry Potter items… you should have a look at www.alivans.com

or www.thecauldronshop.com

oh, and Daaawlish is the final horcux

(sighs) I

stopped watching the Harry Potter movies a long time ago…
What is wrong with me!? I used to love it, but

now i just don’t know.

Interesting

answers, guys. Thank you for the replies.

Lanny - Yeah, I’ve been to the

LeakyCauldron a few times – nice place. Maybe I should stay there…

Teaser trailer’s

up:
comingsoon.net/films.php?id=4661

I saw it and I

say that I’m rather intrested in watching it. I might not bw a big fan, nor do I read the books any more.

However, this movie looks a little intresting.

A friend of mine is really into Daniel

Radcliff and she loves every harry potter book and movie. Gottalovepixar can back me up on that. I love Harry

potter too, but I am not like my friend.

Wow. Many people out there are really

obsessed with HP, like we are with Pixar. Of course, you are not alone. I bet each member here can name someone

who is crazy about HP.

Why on Earth haven’t I posted

here yet? ;-o

Harry Potter is one of my biggest obsessions. I haven’t read

any of the books, but I’ve seen and own all 4 of the movies and I know them pretty well.

My favorite HP

character is Draco Malfoy. I’ve been teased mercilessly about liking him, and Dash has probably witnessed this

at least once in person. Heh. My friends say Draco is a wimp, and while I agree with them, it doesn’t matter

to me. He’s a snobby bad boy, which I find appealing. In reality, I’d go for the shy sweet type, but this is

fantasy.

Oh yeah…and Tom Felton is hot. ;-p

~~=oP

I thought I was the only one the Like Draco . I really like him and I have to

agree that he is a wimp but your right he is the bad boy and I find that cute in him.

I love so many characters in Harry Potter… Ginny, Ron, Neville, Draco, the twins, Sirius,

Tonks… my absolute favorite would have to be Luna Lovegood though. Have you guys seen the sneak peaks that were

on ABC Family a few days ago? It got me all jittery. I love the Evanna Lynch- the girl playing Luna Lovegood.

She’s so perfect. (Her voice… is so good for Luna)…

I think you guys that haven’t read the books

really should. Most of the times the movies don’t do certain characters justice… so I think you guys are

really missing out there.
