When the first one came out, I thought it was just in the middle between good and bad. But now that it is becoming a serious cult now, it is really starting to ruin Disney’s name. It got worse and worse the more they decided to do with it.
Well, I liked HSM when I wathced it. It’s alright for me, but there are much better movies, like Phantom of the Opera. Now they overdo it. Yeah, it was success, but that doesn’t mean that it deserves 100.000 sequels and so on.
i dont like it at all, i actually fell asleep when i was watching the second movie =P
Hmm… I’m not a big fan, but is this thread really necessary? Seems like fuel for a potential flame war…
But don’t mind me. I’m just backseat moderating
I pretty much very strongly dislike it. The second one, well, I only watched to see how bad it was. The third I won’t bother spending my 10 bucks (it’s gonna be in theaters, just if you didn’t know) i know it’s gonna be total crapolooza.
Though I mostly believe that flaming is a waste of time and those who hate it should ignore it, I’ll share what I think.
I felt okay with the first one.
The second one…meh.
I’m not up for the plot, but I like the music and dance moves.
But just hearing that there was going to be a third one annoyed me. They seemed actually proud of it. HSM 1 was good enough, but I wished they could move on.
all disney wants is money
Which is why HSM3 may not be the end of it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is going to be Retirement Home Musical imagines the now old cast of HSM dancing and singing around
That is really funny Witch of Night but could be true
Yeah, this thread isn’t really necessary as we already have a High School Musical thread and this one is cluttering up the boards a little.
these films have good messages behind them, but they’re rapped up so stupidly and high school-adorably.
HSM3 will NOT be the end of it. they’re already writing HSM4.
I saw some clips of it on Youtube and as well on Disney. I am like “oh boy, if this gets good reviews, I don’t care how much I don’t like it, I’m gonna watch it.”
this along with Beverly Hills Chihuahua will make for… wait for it…
The suckiest fall film season ever!!!
I will not go to one mainstream theatre this fall. I will stay at the film festival places all day and night. (St. Louis always has a great film festival, so that’ll be a great plan!!!)
Edited. Please refrain from shouting. Thank you. – Mitch
I remember when I was 12 and ‘Newsies’ came out. I was one of the few that was a fan of the film. The music done by Alan Menken I felt was pretty well done.
However, in listening to the tracks from HSM 1 & 2, there’s nothing that really strikes me as being a song that would make me keep coming back and back to the series.
However…the ‘break-up’ song in HSM2 has something about it that made me…gulp purchase it. It’s like that ‘Didn’t you see the Movie?’ track in the ‘inspired by’ disc for Wall-E.
In a way, I think I’ve become what every generation does: a bit perplexed at the younger one. I don’t get most of what passes for shows to these kids, let alone the Billboard Top 10’s hits never make their way onto my iPod. I remember 10 years ago, I was listening to Billboard Top 10 hits like no tomorrow.
Of course, given it’s popularity, everything will eventually drift into parody. You just know someone is going to try to do an inner-city HSM parody.
the only songs I ever liked at all from HSM were:
Stick to the Status Quo
Bet on It
I actually downloaded both of those, but I don’t like the movies really.
Just a little random thought, but it my health class, I was learing about social accpetance and cliques and we saw HSM’s “Sitck to the Status Quo” for reference.
Staus quo means current state of affairs. so Stick to the current state of affairs.
