This is the next film from the animation studio (Illumination Entertainment) that made Despicable Me.

It stars Russel Brand as some dude who runs over the easter bunny with his car, and then becomes the easter bunny. I like Chris Meladandri and Despicable Me, so I am excited for a trailer/image/poster.

My expectations for the film are so-so since it sounds a lot like Disney’s Santa Clause movies, but I’m sure it will be more than original.

Wow, that sounds a bit too familiar. I didn’t even know it existed until now, I thought the next one was The Lorax. Well, I’m not too excited, but I’ll probably check it out since DM wasn’t half bad.

Some dude who becomes the easter bunny after driving him over?

Sounds weird.

I like that. xD

Can’t wait for more information

So now they’re BLATANTLY copying other movies? Not only does it seem bland, especially with Illumination’s animation style, but come on; it’s the Santa Clause but with Easter. Not excited at all for this one.

I may have gotten the premise a little wrong, but I read the other premise on an offical press release info thing. Sorry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hop_(2011_movie

This honestly makes the movie sound a little better, and a LOT more original.

Here is a video/interview with Chris Meledandri talking about Hop, The Lorax and Tim Burton’s Stop-Motion-Animation The Addams Family.

Hop? Well that is an interesting title. It sounds too much like insipid Tim Allen movie, Santa Claus or something like that.

This one could be interesting
but I definitely need to read more info about or see a trailer before I make any judgements.

And yeah ellie-jessie-eve, this does sound similar to Tim Allen’s The Santa Clause.

The choice of “Clause” instead of the traditional “Claus” is a pun and refers to a clause like in a contract, because the “Santa Clause” in fine print on Santa’s bussiness forces Scott Calvin to become Santa after he accidentaly kills him.

Sounds too much like Santa Clause or The Tooth Fairy for my taste. Gotta see a trailer to make proper assessment.

Well, it looks
disturbing.

That was
 weird.

That’s a really cute bunny.

So, it’s from the director of Alvin & The Chipmunks and it’s a combination of live action/animation? Great. 2 things I don’t like. I’m not having very high hopes from this information.

Russel Brand is supposed to voice the bunny? What kind of world is this!

I saw the trailer at the movies today.

I am not impressed.

I hate trailers like that, that don’t tell even the tiniest detail about the plot.
They irritate me.

Man this looks bad :open_mouth:

It looks like the Minions have become the ‘Luxo Jr’ mascot for Illumination Entertainment.

Eh, I’m kinda ambivalent towards it. I mean, that is some really good photorealism and digital composite of live-action and animation right there, and it would look good as a TV commercial for drum sets or something. XD

So yeah, it’s a teaser. It’s supposed to tease, though I have to say that it reveals absolutely nothing of the plot whatsoever. Reading the synopsis, it sounds a bit like The Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause. But hey, maybe they can make it entertaining despite the story being done before.

If there’s any consolation, they picked one of my favourite songs. Great music choice, Universal Pictures. :sunglasses:

A “no” vote here, based on the assumption that it’s the “CGI star” type of movie. But if there are clear divisions between the live-action and animated worlds, maybe it will be worth a look. It looks like Illumination might have been hedging on the type of feature it wants to produce in future. All-CG would be preferable, IMO.

Cheers! Steve

I don’t really have much of an opinion on this at all really.

The trailer was poorly executed though. Pretty dull really. I can get what they were going for, we’re supposed to think ‘Oooh, a rabbit playing the drums, how strange what is this about? -waits in anticipation/looks for more-’ but
um no. I think in general, if you want ‘randomness’ to grab attention you’d have to be a bit more impressive than that. It’s a marketing strategy that is used pretty often and can work but they didn’t pull it off well here.

The rabbit looks cute though.

I voted NO, I don’t have faith on it, looks like alvin and the chipmunks which are really BAD, and suck, (imo)
