How to get Pixarian autographs

Buzz&Woodyforever: No problemo! I can’t wait to see what you get back, but it might take some time. It takes a day for a letter from my house to get to Pixar, but because they’re so busy it took 4 months for me to get my autograph from them. But patience pays off!

Yeah, it might take almost a year or two for me to get a response back, seeing as I live halfway across the country. I’m gonna write the letter later tonight, and send it tomorrow.

I wrote a letter to Pete Docter on July 6th (2009) and got it back the day before the Oscars (early March 2010). I’d recommend writing to someone who isn’t backed up with publicity right now (like Pete for example). It’ll probably only take a couple of months then. Also, I live in NY so I’m probably even further away than you are.

Yeah, I was originally just gonna write to John Lasseter, but I decided I’m just gonna write to Pete Docter. And yeah, New York is farther away from where I am.

YES! I got an autograph and letter from PIXAR today! So happy right now!!

Oh wow, congratulations JJejja! What did the letter say?

It said that they love hearing all the great tings I had to say and they apoligize for the delayed response. I also got a photo of Woody and Buzz signed by John Lasseter. This toally made my day

I still haven’t written my letter to Pete Docter yet, maybe sometime this weekend.

JJejja: That is fantastic! I’m glad you got the autograph, it sounds amazing.

Buzz&Woodyforever: Yeah, I have a few letters to write and send as well! I’ll have to do it when Fair ends and before school starts. So much to do, so little time!

Me neither! Yes, I’m writing a letter to him, I’ve decided. But it’s way harder than I thought it would be!
I want to write a fan letter so he’ll write me a letter back, with his autograph on an Up glossy print. Is that too much?

I’m also stuck on what I should say or how to start it off. I’ve tried drafting one on a spare piece of paper, but I sound so lifeless and boring and stupid. I don’t want that sort of impression on a Pixarian! :frowning:

Really? I sent mine and got a reply within two weeks. :open_mouth:

To Pete? Hmm. I might try sending another one to Pete or maybe a new one to John, and see how long it takes. I dunno why mine took so long.

getting Pete Docter’s autograph for me was a little easier then I thought it would be, I saw him at the silent film festival putting change into a meter for his car, I had talked to him for a few minutes then he drew me Mike and life was good : )

I also got Teddy Newton’s the same way, when he went to the TS3 screening in SF I had noticed him before the actual event and had talked to him for a few minutes. Both guys were so nice to talk to.

During this year’s EmeryEd event John Lasseter had been walking around but I had missed him! That would have been pretty hard for me to handle though, even with Mr. Docter I was shaking and stuttering like a real fanboy. This is coming from a guy who didn’t even freak out when I saw Brad Pitt at the moneyball shoot lol.

Okay so I sent my letter last Friday, and it wasn’t very long. It wasn’t even addressed to anyone in particular, just “Pixar Animation Studios.” Now I’m reading that Pete Docter (who’s autograph I asked for) actually writes little notes to people that wirte long fan letters, and I think that would be awesome. But I’m nervous that since mine isn’t long and not directed to him, I won’t get anything personal.

My letter went:

"Hi!

My name is Katie, and although you probably hear this a lot, I absolutely love your films. I really look up to both John Lasseter and Pete Docter, and if at all possible, I’d sincerely appreciate a signe autograph from them both. This would be amazing to have, since working at Pixar when I get older would be my dream come true. Thanks a lot!

P.S. Here’s a little picture I did of Carl … maybe Mr. Docter will like it!"

And if you hadn’t guessed, I drew a picture of Carl and sent it, too. Ranting over, I was just wondering if that’s enough to get a personal reply or not… either way, I’ll write to Pete personally soon since he’s my favorite director

I sent an email asking for an autograph from John Lasseter. Because I am in the UK it would cost quite a bit to send a letter. Hopefully I will get a reply. This is what I said:

Hello Pixar, I love your work. Especially Toy Story. Because I was born in 1993, I grew up with Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Mr and Mrs Potato Head, Rex, RC, Bo Peep, The Little Green Men, Slinky, Hamm, Wheezy, Zurg, The Soldiers, Andy and every other character in the Toy Story universe. The characters have always held a special place in my heart and I would really appreciate a memento of Toy Story signed by the man that made the toys come alive.

My address is:

(I gave the address to Pixar because I won’t get the autograph otherwise but I have omitted it here)

If you send me the autograph I will be truly grateful. I hope to here from you soon.

Joshua.

I got a reply from the email but it was just standard prbot FAQ stuff. At least that means they got the email and I’ll hopefully get the autograph.

Wow, good luck with your reply, YouAreAToy! And I didn’t know you were from the UK. I am too!

Now, I re-drafted my letter to Pete Docter. I need some peoples’ opinions on this- I would be so grateful! Okay, here goes:

Hi Pete!
My name is Ami and I’ve been a huge fan of Pixar for several years. It was Cars that really got me into it, but all of Pixar’s films before that are masterpieces!
I was born in 1995 so I grew up with Toy Story, and Monsters, Inc was an early childhood favourite. Now I can’t decide which Pixar movie is my favourite! They are all very special to me.
One day I’d love to work on future productions as a Graphic Designer as I love creating things on the computer as well as drawing free-handedly.
You and John Lasseter are my favourite Pixar directors and I think that you’re both very inspirational. However, I chose to write to you because I know John is always extremely busy. But an autograph from you would be very much appreciated and would totally make my day!
Thanks, Ami.

P.S. Please return this to… my address here

I hope it doesn’t sound really lengthy. I’ll let him decide what to put his autograph on (like a glossy print or whatever). I tried to cover everything I wanted to put. I’ll also include some drawings and see what he says.
Will this be enough to get a personal letter back written by him?

@Biggest_Pixar_Fan_Ami Thanks for your support. Also your letter to Pete is very good. If I was Pete I would love that letter and send something great back. A personal message may be difficult for them but he should definitely send a lovely glossy print back.

Right back at’cha, YouAreAToy! And thanks.
I would be over the cheesy moon if I got a reply from Pete at all, let alone a message! But yeah, of course I know they’re very busy. They’re working their butts off for us fans!

Hmm, the hardest thing to do now is to tell my parents about my letter and if I can send it off. I don’t see it going down very well, but it’s worth a shot. ;-o

Hey Biggest_Pixar_Fan_Ami, please don’t mind me being like nosy or anything, but why wouldn’t your parents let you send it off? I was born in 1995 too (read it in your letter to Pete Docter, I loved it by the way, not too lengthy and I think it has enough info and personal things in it to get a personal message from him), and I sent mine off without any problems, and I’m the same age. I was just wondering … sorry if I’m being nosy again. Maybe my parents aren’t strict enough or something:D
