I am thinking of seeing Space Chimps, but I’m not sure it’s worth my time. Some critics said it was cute, stupid fun but others said it was just stupid.
It was godawful. Barely any actual plot. The characters (Which there are far too many of) are all either unlikable or unbelievable. The animation/cgi is 5 years behind. It was just a long string of set pieces and bad monkey puns.
On the plus, it did make me appreciate Pixar that much more.
I was thinking of seeing it with my friend Helen, who can make even the most mediocre time funny. And if I was going to see it, I’d probably rent it off of ITunes.
Apparently there are a lot of sexual references in Space Chimps, including a character that looks like a giant breast. Also, I’ve heard that the lip syncing is out of time with the actual voices.
I thought it was funny at times, but a lot of the time, it was kinda dumb…
but the animation was pretty good, and it wasn’t horrible (nothing’s as bad as the Love Guru), so C. I enjoyed it a lot more than you guys did, apparently.
Yeah, I heard that. Sometimes I think the raters people are getting lazy. I mean, with all the ones I heard about, I think its stretching it for PG, much less G.
Oh, my bad. It’s just that whenever a movie resembling another movie character and plot-wise while being similar in terms of the premier date, I’d automatically figure it’s the dirty work of ol’ uncreative Dreamworks Anim. again. Heh.
As for the quality (of the animation) for Space Chimps, 3-D animation is so yesterday.
