If you could live anywhere in the world...

…where would that be?

As a keen traveller I love the idea of living in a different country, even if it’s only for a few months. Top of my destinations list would probably be New Zealand for its amazing and varied scenery, Japan (in particular Tokyo) mainly because of the culture there, as well as the delicious food, and maybe somewhere in America because, realistically, (aside from having to get a visa and stuff like that) it would be quite a feasible place to live and feel settled- it’s English-speaking, the culture is not entirely different and once again there’s that variety of geography that means you can stay in the same country and yet experience so many different landscapes. Oh, and Italy as well. Perhaps not so realistic considering how expensive it is to live there, but the wealth of history and culture would be worth it. Plus Italian men are hot.

So, where would you live?

New Zealand is the furthest place in the world I can go, so…

Hmm… tough question! So many places sound wonderful: Italy, Germany, Greece, New Zealand, and I always wanted to go to England. Definitely want travel to these places in my life time. If I had to choose one to live, I’d have to go with Italy. I love the art history there and the culture. Plus it’s a beautiful place (I visited a few summers ago). I also have a friend over in Italy. He was a foreign exchange student during my senior year of high school. He is one of the coolest, nicest people I have met.

Either Japan, England, France, Germany, Italy, or Ireland. Or maybe even Emeryville. (Then again, isn’t that every Pixar fan’s dream? )

I recently visited Emeryville when I was down in San Fran. It’s a really nice place, although it seems as if everything came after Pixar did XD. I would definitely live there. Other than that I would also love to live in New Zealand and a small town off route 66. I’ve visited New Zealand before and loved every single part, except for the rain  Route 66 because of Cars could you tell? If only Radiator Springs was real… Oh! And Anaheim because of Disneyland.

As much as it would be cool to live in another country, I probably never would. I would certainly travel to places, but as far as living goes… ermmm, I’m good here in the U.S. I cherish my rights to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms and stuff like that… things I’m not sure I would be as freely given in another country. But what do I know…? :stuck_out_tongue: I haven’t taken the time to read the constitutions of other countries…!

Heh, but how long these rights will last is another story… :unamused:

If given the chance I would absolutely love to spend several weeks in Paris. I’m not sure why… ever since seeing Ratatouille I’ve just wanted to be there and see it all for myself. Another place I would love to go is Italy and Australia. Gotta love those hot Austrailian guys with their ammmaaaazing accents… <3 drools LOL

Philippines. Life is so simple there. My second choice would be Florida or Seattle. Florida, lots of stuff to do, and the house pricing is fair. Seattle, a cosmopolitan city, fair house prices, lots of fun activities, and the weather.

Well, Hawaii would be at the top of my list. I remember my trip there a few weeks ago and it was spectacular! The people there are so friendly (well, the ones that we meet as tourists, anyway) and the laid-back atmosphere is so relaxing. Most of the people speak English (or Japanese, though I don’t know how to speak that), so I think I’ll settle comfortably there. I can’t surf, so maybe I’ll just sit on the beach and ‘bird-watch’. And the coastal drives are so beautiful! Shakka shakka, indeed!

Another place would be Tokyo or anywhere in Japan. I think Japan is like a country from the future or something, seriously, it must be like the most high-tech country on Earth! While we’re stuck using bus tickets in Sydney, they use all-purpose electronic cards to pay for everything from bus fares, groceries, movie tickets, phone bills, etc. Singapore comes close with their EZ-link cards, but it is limited to public transports. And man, are those Japanese quirky! Not to mention I get first dibs on latest anime releases and that ramen is like, my favourite noodle ever, so I can eat it to my heart’s content there! The only drawback is that Pixar movies take forever to reach there! :frowning:

I would also like to live in Florida. I’m not sure about my American geography, but isn’t that where Hollywood (live-action films), Orlando (Walt Disney) and Emeryville (Pixar) are situated? Talk about a trifecta of terrificness!

Finally, the last place I would want to move to is Miami. A lot of my favourite films and TV shows are set there, and from the images, it looks like a swell place to hang out. If you can’t tell, I’m a fan of tropical places, cos’ I stand cold climates. It looks pretty idyllic, but I’m betting it’s one of the ‘craziest’ places in America. I’m hoping it’s crazy as in crazy-awesome! Whaddya expect, it’s hot down South!

Mark Twain once said something like: “Sometimes you know more about a place when you’ve not lived there than if you did.” Meaning, it looks good from the outside, but you’ll find out if you truly like it if you actually take the leap to live there! I hope my dream destinations remain as such when I’m actually settling there!

Emeryville and Hollywood are both in California. :unamused: Orlando is in Florida. I think you may have confused it with Anaheim, where Walt Disney Land is located.

The best way to remember the difference between the two Disneys is that the Land is in Cali and the World is in Florida. Heh, I don’t know if that would help anyone else much, but that’s how I remember them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree with woody, but not just anywhere on Route 66, but in Arizona, where Radiator Springs is supposed to be at.

Paris (guess the influence). Versailles looks really nice - if I could afford it, apparently it’s quite a upper suburb. Regardless I’d be happy in any part of France, hopefully I can pick up the language and do some freelancing work in my later years there.

My top choices include Miami or Orlando Florida, Hollywood California, Hawaii (any island), New York, Japan, the UK, and Paris

If I could live anywhere where I wanted, I would build a home at lake Buenavista where free entrance to all disney parks in disney world would be included.

UK, US and New Zealand for me. Italy, Spain, France and Japan look great, too. Gosh, there too many places I’d like to go to.

Disneyland! :stuck_out_tongue:

or California, whichever :stuck_out_tongue:

i freaking love california, im going there in about a month!

Paris. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to go to Paris…

On another note, I find it funny that so many people wish to visit California when I travel through such locations as Hollywood on a regular basis and think nothing of it.

same here, when it comes to hollywood at least, i just wanna live by the ocean  and get away from this Arizona heat >.<

I live in SoCal. I don’t live in Aneheim, but on a quiet night I can hear the fireworks at Disneyland at 9:30 P.M. It’s pretty cool!

As for places I want to live: Emmeryville, CA; New York, New York; Germany; Paris; UK; Italy

Emeryville. Paris. Rome. Emeryville. Period.

I actually think that if the Constitution of a country says there is freedom of speech that desn’t mean there’s actual freedom of speech in such country. You know how humankind is.

I would’t like to live in a place with the right to bear arms, but I wouldn’t mind at the end. But the thing makes me nervous.

At this moment I would like to live in a country with jungle. Panama for example. Loved it last summer when I visited it. Interesting place.
