Lol, that’s quite an interesting dream you have…oh, and welcome dear newbie.
Dunno why Karly, but I totally agree with you about Bob. I mean, Pete’s incredible, but I wanna meet Bob a bit more for some reason, he seems like an amazingly friendly guy. Who knows, I might find out firsthand.
By the way, for those who missed my Current Mood post, I’m almost 100% sure I’ll be getting a tour of Pixar next month. The only thing that would prevent it is an inability of getting to California. I’ve already got confirmation that I’ll be able to get in as long as I can get over there, I’ve just gotta make sure nothing comes up that prevents my dad and I from getting to the bay area. Also, if all goes well, Mitch will be going along for the ride.
Y’know, after the fact, I finally remembered that Ronnie del Carmen is the one I should really wish to meet, since he was the one who talked about having all these stories in mind for Dug, how he joined Muntz’s pack, etc., and that would be very interesting to hear about. (I still think it would be great if they would let him do some more Dug shorts, like for Disney Channel or something.)
I’m really glad you mentioned that Karly, Mike Frederickson said he’s really close with Ronnie, and I’d really be anxious to meet the guy. Mike said he’d almost definitely be able to introduce him to me, and I’ll have to talk to him about that if I do get the privilege. Ahh, I’m gonna seriously have to make a list of what I need to do if and when I go,… I’m gonna be lost in the euphoria
ffdude, I hope you get to go! You will have to take lots of notes and bring us back a report.
I of course would like to meet the greats and see the wonderful creative environment, but the thing I would most like to do is sit in on a story session. If I could participate it would be my greatest fream come true, but just to see the masters at work would be indescribable.
UPDATE: The Monsters Inc. Blu-ray has a several complete story pitch sessions by Bob Peterson, one of the best in the biz. Wanna see how Pixar polishes story, this is the place. Also, they have a complete animatic of the original treatment for Monsters Inc. It was originally a VERY different film (no Mike, Boo is about seven, and more). The pitch is given by Pete Doctor and hearing him do the voices is a riot. That they folks at Pixar give fans and students so much access to thier process is just more proof that they are artists first.
Morning PP, I’m just here to point out, I’m leaving for the airport in about an hour and a half. I’ll be on PP from time to time, but I’ll be feverishly updating my twitter, so if you want to keep track of how it’s going, check that out.
I can’t wait! Many details and pictures to come.
You’re a very lucky man… be sure to write back to us, yeah?
ffdude1906, Thanks for taking the time to document what is only a dream for most of us! Hopefully we will work there together soon! Great stuff all around!
Wow, I love this thread. I would probably get autographs from Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and John Lasseter…then I would annoy Pete Docter for the rest of the day by following him and writing down all the things he does.
Haha I love your plan!!! And I love Pete best as well, hooray!
Lol, I second that XD .
ffdude, just read up on your trip. Amazing experience, congrats on getting the tour. Sounded like Pixar studios lives up to its name and you had a great time. Thanks for sharing the trip.
Haha, no problem. It. Was. INCREDIBLE. Way different than I expected, in the best possible way. Lunch with Bob Peterson,… not really much that can top that. Plus, I shook hands with JL, that’s pretty, well, yeah. Insane.
If i got a tour of pixar. I would like to meet John Lasseter, then Pete Docter followed by some pixar animators that i could ask about there jobs and see if it’s something i would want to do. And of course the pixar artists.
Sounds like a great plan guitarlynn!
One of my co-workers has been on an insiders tour of Pixar.
And one of the many things she did, was listen to Bob Peterson record the voice of Dug for her on the sound/voice equiptment! And she got to record her voice too!
I’d like to do that, and also check out the cereal bar! And gift shop.
Ohmygosh. Well, I’d love to just run around the place and take it all in. And I’d probably start crying really. And I’d get a ton of pictures of whatever’s allowed to have pictures taken of! And I’d meet John Lasseter, and Pete Docter, and I’d see the Cereal Bar and visit the gift shop. And then they’d never be able to make me leave
And then they’d never be able to make me leave
lol, you’re amazing Katie!
Thanks Kenzie! hahaha you are too, with all your insider Pixar access and whatnot!

I wonder if I would even survive if I found out that I was getting a tour of Pixar.
Probably. Oh, that would be a dream come true. I’d love to meet all the major guys there (Mostly John Lasseter), and I’d like to check out the gift shop.
