It appears Inside out will be getting a PG rating.
^I assumed as such. Still, so exciting, it feels like we’re just getting closer and closer to release day
But who is the protaginist–Joy or Riley? 'Cause per studio tradition so far, person subjects get PG rating, non-person subjects are given a G rating. (Only 3 of their films have ever been given a PG rating because of some person subjects like superheroes, old man, and red-haired princess. All other have been given a G rating because of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, cars, rats, and robots. That’s what comes of watching Pixar films, all right!)
Like are we saying the whole rating thing is gonna be really confising for this movie, as it clearly would not be given until we come much more closer to opening day? 'Cause Riley hersekl is a person but Joy is one of her emotions with personality, it seems…

Pretty sure it’s been stated Joy is the main character. They may just think she looks human enough to fit for this weird idea the raters seem to have that things are only disturbing when happening to humans. Really the only thing that marks her as a none human is a yellow color and blue glow. She actually kind of looks more human than Carl and Russell.
Of course, just because Riley isn’t the main character doesn’t mean bad things can’t happen to her and up the rating. I believe there’s been some statement about one third of the movie being with the humans. Plenty of time for something bad to happen.
And there’s always the chance the movie just pushed things so far with the emotions (things happening to them, I mean, not emotional moments) they had to break and give it a PG, though I’m not sure what they could do that’d be worse than Ratatouille or Cars 2.
Given that it’s a whole movie about emotions, I’m sure there’s plenty of room for emotional turmoil and tense situations. Although Toy Story 3 got to be pretty heavy too and that was rated G, so who knows. I’d say the rating system is stricter these days than it used to be, though. It’s probably nothing to worry about, haha

Riley’s class is shown in the second link:
PixarPost caught some Easter Eggs in the class.
Wow. She is the only blonde in the class. Subtle.
t.co/SPzbkE84VS Has anyone seen this? I’ve read some stuff about the Inside Out screening that happened today and it seems like it garnered a lot of praise and emotional reactions on-level with Up. That’s very good news
Amazon now has the Inside Out Soundtrack listed on their site. It doesn’t list many details yet, but at least it looks like the soundtrack will get a physical CD release (as well as an MP3 release later, I’m sure). Here’s the page for it on Amazon:
amazon.com/Inside-Out-Variou … soundtrack
Amazon shows the release date as June 16, 2015, but a lot of times CD release dates can change. At any rate, it should be out by the time the movie comes out.
Long-time Pixar Planet readers (especially soundtrack buffs) will probably know that Pixar also makes a private “Cast & Crew” CD for their various movies (do a Google search). But these Cast & Crew CDs are NOT for sale, but instead are given as gifts to the cast & crew who worked on the film. Often, the tracklist on these Cast & Crew CDs will be slightly different than on the CDs that are for sale in the stores… but unfortunately they’re just for the crew. (The orchestra doesn’t get them… we have to buy the normal CD in the stores just like everyone else. But instead, we usually get cool crew hats)
As of now, there’s no tracklist up on Amazon yet (or MP3 listing), but in time I’m sure the tracks will be listed…
Notice the girl with the blue streak in her hair?
Her hairstyle is similar to Gogo’s from Big Hero 6.
Now that I think about it, Big Hero 6 was set in San Fransoyko (an alternate timeline version of San Francisco) and Inside Out is also located in San Francisco.
Intriguing…
Doesn’t look like Gogo to me.
Her hair’s a lot more spiky and layered, and she has multiple smaller streaks instead of one big solid one.
If anything, blue haired girl’s hair reminded me of Colette. Except partially blue.
miafka, you’ve worked in the orchestras? Also, I’ll be interested in seeing a track listing for the soundtrack—usually spoilerific
buckmana, interesting thing about the San Fransokyo/San Francisco connection! I wouldn’t have thought of that. I agree with Villainess though that she better resembles Collette.
Lee Unkrich just retweeted a positive review for the movie btw
Leirin,
Yes, I’m a studio musician here in LA, and have played on many of Pixar’s films through the years (starting with the original Toy Story).
Amazon still doesn’t have a track listing for the sountrack yet, but you’re indeed correct that cue titles (besides often being puns) are also often spoilers. Usually as the release date gets closer, Amazon will put the track titles up, often with audio samples.
I think this is one of Pixar’s best movies, and you’ll be able to see it soon enough. I read somewhere that reviews are embargoed (asked not to be published) until after the movie is shown at Cannes (May 13-24), but once it’s been shown there, I’m sure the reviews will start coming in… and of course it’ll be out in just over a month.
Edit: It’s kind of funny where you can find information. I’ve been trying to find what tracks will be put on not only the Inside Out soundtrack, but the Jurassic World one as well (out about the same time), but Amazon has no track listing yet for either. Then I managed to find the track list for Jurassic World where I’d least expect it: on, of all places, the Kmart website (entertainment.kmart.com/michael- … 1147006055). Too bad Kmart doesn’t have a listing for Inside Out yet, otherwise the tracklist might’ve been there…
miafka, that’s amazingly cool! Thank you for the information! I just got word that the Cannes screening will be held this Monday, let’s hope it goes well!
I saw so much Inside Out merch at the Disney Store yesterday and it got me pumped
Reviews for Inside Out were embargoed until after it was shown at Cannes. That happened today, so now the first reviews for it are coming out!
It’s still quite early, but so far the reviews look good…

I was hoping for more merchandise then the standard plushies and inaction figures.
On the plus side, I have seen images of the Disney Infiinity figures (the emotions) and while I haven’t seen the crystal playset, there was talk about Joy being released with one for Inside Out.
I’m looking forward to playing with the emotions and the playset when they are released.
This is Disney Infinity 3.0 that has the Inside Out stuff.
Advance Screening in LA with Pete Docter (Tuesday June 9th):
For those in Southern California, there will be an early screening of “Inside Out” on Tuesday June 9th, with Pete Docter giving some sort of a talk or master class on animation beforehand (it’s not really clear what it will be, but at any rate, he’ll be there to talk before the film). It’s associated with the LA Film Festival. Tickets are $25 (you can buy them just for this, you don’t have to attend any of the other festival stuff) and just went on sale today, while they last.

Scroll down to “Inside Out + Animation With Pete Docter”
The “Hollywood Reporter” says:
“On June 9, the fest will screen Pixar’s newest movie Inside Out, preceded by a master class with Docter, who directed the film and served as one of its screenwriters.”
Not sure how “master class” will be handled, but at any rate he’ll be there in person to talk about animation.

Oh wow, 12 all-fresh reviews thus far that seem to be utterly beaming!!! I am incredibly excited, and also relieved! I had a feeling that Inside Out would be the movie to put the naysayers to rest, and it looks like that really is becoming the case.
Some intriguing images from the Inside Out mobile game:
Posters on the walls around Dream Productions:
I think these are the common dream types. That last one is a bit ominous.
I guess they make nightmares as well as the regular dreams.
A set from Dream Productions.
This would infer they have to build copies of the things in the real world for dreams.
I wonder if there are going to be other kids Riley’s age in the movie?
The only one I’ve seen so far is the girl Riley is slushy drinking with…right before brain freeze kicks in.
I’ve now seen a picture of the Inside Out Disney Infinity crystal playset.
It comes with Joy and Anger in a two pack release.
