Is It Me, Or...

…does it seem that a lot of people

working at Pixar are guys? I mean, practically ALL of the important people are guys, and very few women have

played important roles in the production of their films, like being a producer or something.

If my memory serves me right, a female by the name of

Darla K. Anderson was the producer of Cars.

While it’s true that the majority of workers at Pixar studio

are men, it tends to be like that in other studios as well. Heck, how many female film composers do you see (the

biggest one being Rachel Portman I think)? Hopefully I’ll change that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anderson also worked on Monsters, Inc. too, I beleive, as a Producer.

And

Ratatouille has been wrote by two women.
Oh, and Sarah McArthur and Lois Scali are both executive

vice-president of Pixar.

Bret Parker is one of the female animators I know of, and she has also provided the

voice for Kari the babysitter in The Incredibles and Jack-Jack Attack. She hardly has to change her voice for

the role.

But you’re right, LG. The majority of well known Pixar staff members are male. However, there

will be +1 female when I arrive! :sunglasses:

~~=oP

Brenda Chapman

is also a big name and member of the Brain Trust.

In general theres always been very few women in

animation in general – of course this has been changing lately. I did see a number somewhere – one of the

animators posted how many female animators there were – and it was a VERY small number compared to the total

amount of animators. =\

It is a shame, but it obviously didn’t happen

on purpose- it just ended up that way. Hopefully it will change in the future, though.

Yes, it’s just not

Pixar that has fewer women.

Darla K. Anderson?..

Okay, shush, stop proving me wrong, lol. I just meant quite generally, that usually, there seems to be

more important guys in Pixar than girls, just obviously not all the time, heh.

Speaking of which - I think it’s about time that we get a

Pixar movie with a female lead, don’t you?

Hah hah. That’s like asking for a

female president. Of course that should happen anyhow some day.

As for men working on the animation

company…well I am unsure. Have MOST of the important people in Pixar been around since it’s beginnings?

On second thought I

take it back - rumor has it TS3 will center around Jessie.

Although I

think pulling for a Toy Story 3 is…well…stressing the characters a bit too much…

It’s new to me

that Jessie is the center of the new story.

That’s news to me, too. Last I’d heard, it was about Andy growing

out of his toys.

If my memory calls, the plot seems to be about “finding your place” or something.
Yes. Andy does

seem to grow out of his toys…eventually I think they wind up at a Daycare Center if I’m not mistaken…

I’ve heard three

separate plot pitches in varying degrees of detail so who knows?

Yes.
I think they did that with Monsters Inc. as

well.

All of these rumours are annoying, because there’s a chance that the final film will end up

completely different to what the rumours suggest, lol.

You know, I didn’t think about how all of the

leads in Pixar movies are guys…But, then again, it’s the same for most of the other animated movies, even by

Dreamworks and other companies. I can’t think of a CGI film with a female lead…

Hoodwinked
