?That is the
question. It has been talked about at various sites. On the talk page of Wikipedia for Ratatouille there has been
a discussion about this, take a read: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ratat … %28film%29
Here?s the clip
they are talking about: youtube.com/watch?v=DmWIhlees2A go to the 1:12 mark.
On the
DisneySites forums they talk about this very topic as well:

MickeyMouser77 says this:
Has
anyone else noticed that John Ratzenberger (The guy who has voiced at least one character in every Pixar film, is
not cast in Ratatouille? It has been said that one of the elements to having a sure-fire Pixar hit is including
John in their films. Brad Bird did not want him in The Incredibles, but in the end was over ruled. Do you think
he finally got his way this time with Ratatouille?

discussion.
Do you think John?s in the film?
Update: Luxo Jr. gives some greast links that have
confirmed that John is is the film:
- ComingSoon confirmed it

2. John himself said he was in it

Brad Bird strongly hinted
(in WonderCon) that John Ratzenberger will be in the film. However, he did not explicitly state that Ratzenberger
will in fact be in the film, so it could go either way.
I don’t think Brad
will break the tradition, though. He almost didn’t cast Ratzenberger as the voice of a character (the
Underminer) in The Incredibles, but I’m glad that he did. I don’t believe in
superstition, luck, and whatnot, but it’d be nice to see the Ratzenberger tradition remain alive in
Pixar.
EDIT: In response to JV’s own update, I am very pleased that the Ratzenberger tradition will
remain alive

What kind of question is that? Of course he will be in the
movie!
i think it says on imdb.com that he is in Ratatouille.
but i dont know. it will be cool if he is.
Keep in mind that IMDb can be edited by its members, several of whom have no
affiliation whatsoever with the film industry (except for their being fans or enthusiasts of movies). With that
said, IMDb’s content isn’t completely reliable, especially when it comes to upcoming releases. So even if IMDb
were to say (which, as of now, it doesn’t) that Ratzenberger will be in the film, it doesn’t necessarily mean
it’s true.
Also, as a follow up to my previous post, I realized later on that the ComingSoon interview
was actually conducted about a year ago. If you read it closely, John Ratzenberger doesn’t specifically say that
he will be in the film (he even states that he hasn’t recorded anything yet, at least at the time the interview
was conducted). However, we get the sense that he feels (or, more likely, has already been told) that he will be
in it. So, even though the ComingSoon.net interview isn’t actually a confirmation of his participation in the
film (which I initially believed it was, until I read it more carefully), I strongly feel that Ratzenberger will
in fact be in Ratatouille.
I think he will
be. The thing is, his role won’t probably be announced until the last couple weeks prior to release.
Right - The question really is whether we’ll see a quick cameo of him…or he’ll be
a bigger part.
We haven’t heard much in the way of the last one, but who knows?
Why exactly didn’t Bird want
him in The Incredibles in the first place?

Hmmm. Good question.
Too bad I am also wondering. He said in the commentary for the movie that having John in every Pixar movie was a
tradition which he orignally didn’t want to observe. And then he thought since every other movie was successful,
that it wasn’t a tradition he wanted to break.

I’m glad he’ll be
in the film (or so it seems), as I’m rather fond of Pixar’s little tradition of placing Mr. Ratzenburger into
every one of their films. I also wonder why Brad Bird didn’t want John Ratzenburger in The
Incredibles at first, but oh well. I’m glad he kept him in there, in any case! No doubt that he
probably let him voice a part in Ratatouille…
Heh – ya’ know, whenever I
hear his name it sounds so ironic when I think about Ratatouille: Ratzenburger.
“Rats n’ burger”.
He said in thhe commentary that for once, he wanted to break tradition.
THen he said that every Pixar sucess had him in each film, so why break the chain and duel with luck? I am sure
this one won’t be any different.
Yeah - If he was going to break tradition once, and then didn’t do it, why
would he break the streak now?
It doesn’t make sense.
I don’t think Mr. Bird will. Whatever role Ratzenburger will have, Brad Bird will definetly
work it out.
You know what would be weird , if Bird didn’t put him in
and then the movie was amazingly terrible and nobody liked it .
Besides , it would mess up their good
luck charm ! I think they’ll put him in .
I don’t think the movie will turn out to be
terrible if, and for the mere fact that, John Ratzenberger weren’t in it. But as I said, I would certainly like
Mr. Ratzenberger to be in there for tradition’s sake. (Who knows? Maybe he’ll voice some really obscure
character like Linguini’s great-grandpa or something…)

And Mitch, why do you continually spell his
name wrong. It’s Ratzenberger, not Ratzenburger. Just wondering.

Bill - Eheh – oh dear, was I doing that? Well, I
apologize to everyone and Mr. Ratzenberger for the slip-ups. It’s just the mere fact that his name sounds like
“burger” that I keep misspelling it. And then if you bring Ratatouille
into the mix (which includes lots of food), well…there you have it. Heh.
Well, I doubt that would be a name of a restruant in Paris
France in the movie. Especially if most of the resturants there are pretty highly rated and high class. And I
don’t think Remy would name that for his own resturant, because I think Remy would love to cook gormet food
instead of just burgers.
