It's a sad day when...

WALL-E’s already available on P2P networks  . I used to download torrents strictly for high quality, 1080p movie trailers, before I found out how to get them directly from the Apple movie website  . PLEASE refrain from downloading. The incredible folks at Pixar deserve our money for creating this beautiful masterpiece. I, for one, can’t wait to purchase the DVD, full of extra features, commentary, and BURN-E. YAY!

I agree. Boo to bootlegging!

One question. If I know about it, and you know about it, and everyone else knows… Are the law-enforcers off duty? Then again, this coming from the same legislature that lets people sell fireworks, but not light them. What else can we do, eat them?!

~Sarah

Yeah, it seems that places like ThePirateBay.org get off easy. Why the [spoil]hell[/spoil] has the internet a safe zone for people participating in illegal activities?

I agree Pixar deserves our money, I mean the work years to produce a wonderful film, I am going to buy that DVD when it first comes out, thats for sure. BOO to those illegal sites.

Ugh, they did what?! Those jerks! D:<

I will never buy Wall-E on DVD… :unamused:

I’ll just get the Blu-ray Disc!

You can’t get rid of BitTorrents, only because when one user downloads it, even if the original source goes offline due to threats of legal action, it can still be downloaded from that one user who downloaded it. As more and more people download it, it becomes more and more available.

Websites like ThePirateBay and ISOHunt get off easily because it technically doesn’t host the BitTorrents, but rather is a search engine for these torrents.

But the torrents are usually fakes, so they are never worth the time to download. Pixar deserves the money for pouring years and millions of dollars into this fantastic film, so why do it? Yes, movie tickets are expensive ($10 where I am… ouch…) but not unreasonable.

For your information, The Pirate Bay is a Bittorrent tracker, Isohunt on the other and is just search engine. But yeah, non of those actually host the illegal files and cannot be shut down by law. :frowning:

Well, the idea is similar. And it’s still a shame either way :frowning:

WALL-E isn’t released yet. The Torrents are all fakes.

Btw. Disney had it coming with the crazy release dates. No one will wait additional 3 (or even 6) months for the release in other countries.

Uh, it’s released in the US.

I’d wait. Some people do care about the creators. I have faith in the fandom.

Meanwhile, is there any way we can report these guys to Disney?

It’s out in the US, but people in other countries have to wait a long time for it to come out there. Japan will be the last to get it on December 20th. 6 months would absolutely kill me if I knew a Pixar film was already out in theaters somewhere else.

Sorry, there are other countries than the US. :open_mouth:

No, you can’t report them. There will be always “bad” people. It would be more intelligent to tell Disney that their distribution policy is causing piracy.

Yeah it is sad.
I actually agree with Tannen in that I think it’s not the smartest idea for a movie studio to delay the release in various countries so far apart (this just invites it), but for whatever reason, that’s what they’ve decided (Keep in mind that movies are usually finished at the last minute – and with Pixar, not only do they need time to do a decent dub job, but also re-animate any on-screen text for local markets). Sometimes the delay is also timed for local holidays/school breaks, etc… but yeah, if I were the one asked to make the decision, I’d try my hardest to release it worldwide at the same time.

But here’s something to think about… as much as someone (especially a fan waiting to see this movie) might want to see it and not wait for it to come out where he/she is living, it’s the worst thing they could do to themselves. Is it really what that person wants? To have their first experience watching such a gorgeous movie they’ve been waiting for all this time be on a computer screen? With bad quality picture and sound? Watching a lousy camcorder tape? Sure you could see it, but unless you were just casually interested and didn’t really care that much about it, the experience would be ruined. Like if right here, right now, I suddenly gave away all the spoilers of the movie and what happened. You could still go to the cinema and see it, but the surprise and wonder of seeing and hearing it right the first time are gone. You already know what happens, the magic is lost. At least it would be for me.

I hate this sort of stuff. Pixar put SO much effort into making WALL-E the best movie possible, and they deserve to financially reap the rewards. These torrents and downloading things just spoil the amazingness of a new Pixar film coming out.

Unfortunetly, torrents are made in a way that when someone downloads a file, they’re uploading it to others as well, so it spreads like mad.

I did a check, and I don’t think it’s online… Probably just a fake.

But maybe it will come online, maybe it won’t. Either way I won’t download it. When it comes to Pixar films, even if I have to wait months to see them, I wait until I can pay to see it in the cinema and get to see it in a high-quality cinema experience - but with higher Internet speeds, as well as superb TV screens and theatre systems, the line between watching a just released film at the cinemas and your home is being blurred… I’m not saying it’s not tempting to download it, because for a Pixar fan like me, it’s incredibly hard. You just have to have a lot of willpower I suppose, and I know it will be worth the wait, so that makes it a bit bearable.

A part of me wants to laugh at Pixar and Disney if it does get downloaded because of the staggered international release dates (I’m talking about downloaded by people in countries where it’s not released yet), and also because we end up getting the cruddy used-up reels at the end of it… so that makes me a tad bitter.

It doesn’t make it right to download, I’m just telling you guys how it feels to have to wait so long when other countries don’t. But at least I don’t live in Japan…

Oh, and as for trying to get it offline, there’s a saying that goes “trying to get something off the Internet is like trying to get pee out of a swimming pool.” :sunglasses:

I’ll admit it.

I downloaded Wall-E from The Pirate Bay.

HOWEVER!

This is after I paid to see the film legally four times in theatres, which by my calculations means that I’ve given Disney at least $76 in ticket prices.

Not to mention that the quality is horrible, and like Ratatouille I’ll likely be pre-ordering it from the Disney Store (Especially if they have such a pre-order deal like last time.)

WHAT! You devil! You should’ve used Mininova!

LOL, all jokes aside, please realize that you’ve just committed a crime, and could spend up to three years in jail, not to mention a fine of around $5,000 dollars or more. Your funeral.

Sadly LHM is correct. I do support the free trade of information and the property to download from torrents. But movies are created by companies that have people getting paid on how well the movie does too. I would say go a fifth time
I know if I had the funds, I would keep going. I dont know if Wall-E will ever grow out of me
