Jobs

Just being curious, what

professions are people in on here? Or what do you want to be when you’re ready? I’m sure plenty of people here

want to work at Pixar in their lives, but if you had to be something else, what would you be? And if you are

something, what are you?

Well, I’m currently in part-time summer jobs, so I have

some change during university. I work at a downtown movie theatre (Paramount) and as a part-time receptionist at

a private company. There goes my summer, hehe.

I’m currently at the faculty of music in my university,

and I want to become a famous film composer. I’m currently making a score for an independent film to get me

going, but hopefully, after I graduate, I’ll be able to get right into the business. I would love to make a

score for Pixar one day.

I certainly need a job,

especially if I really want to collect all of the Cars die-casts.

I’m planning on majoring in

theatre in college and becoming a stage actor, maybe even an actor/director once I’m old and more experienced.

I don’t expect to ever be in anything bigger than small, local productions, but if opportunity comes a-knocking

I’m sure as heck going to embrace the chance! Doing even something incredibly small in the film industry would

be a great accomplishment for me, although when all’s said and done I will most likely stick with the

stage.

I’m just a

student. I baby-sit here and there though.

I currently work at The Disney Store! But it’s just for the Summer so I’ll be

leaving in two weeks for school. We don’t have a D-Store there so hopefully I can find something at our

affiliates The Children’s Place or a local movie theater to tide me over.

Long term though I’m currently

a double major in Meteorology and Political Science with minors in Math and Physics. I wanted to go into

politics with Emergency Manbagement (FEMA) as my back up plan but recently I’ve decided to try something new. I

want to change to Computer Science which will by default give me minors in Meteorology, Math, and Physics based

on current credits so I can get a tech job in the Animation Industry (hopefully with Pixar). Don’t know how my

Poly Sci will factor i n y et but I hope I can still do some of it as I’d still like to do politics some day.

Lucky you, Dashy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I work at Cinemark Movies 8, which is a dollar theater.

It’s a fun job, but the people who come see our movies are pigs.

Eventually, I’d love to work at Pixar

as a character designer or an animator.

~~=oP

I’m still in high school… and the only job I’m seriously considering is

working at Pixar. If conceptualizing (character designs) is a job there, then I want it. Lol. But I have a

feeling everybody just does that on the side.

However, I’m currently covering all areas in high school

(except history, my only non-honors class) including art and music. It’s funny how ambitious I am to work at

Pixar yet I’m still extremely stingy in having strong backups…

See, you’re smart.

I haven’t got a clue as to any backup possibilities. I’m probably going to minor in something along the

lines of engineering (a perfect match for a theatre major :unamused:), but I think getting a job at NASA isn’t much

easier than becoming an actor.

I’m sure

you’ll pick up backups along the way. You see, I don’t know what specifically the backups would be… but I’m

just covering all bases. Hopefully if not art involved it will be like… computer program… creator or

something. Lol. I don’t know. Maybe something involving math because it seems to be my best subject (not sure

about this though… seeing as I greatly struggled this year in geometry… )…

A job in acting sounds

like fun! I actually love the act but can’t persue it… reason being I have no time for a drama class in my

schedule… :unamused:

Working on the inside, huh?? That’s how you have most of those

collectibles!!

I’m a full-time student . . . going into University now. However, this summer I

volunteered at a children’s summer tutorial camp at my high school . . . and I was also the Craftsmaster!!

(Lanyards ROCK!)

And Dash, you’ll like this: I do a lot of volunteer work, including a week down in New

Orleans helping out gut houses that were too moldy to live in for families who couldn’t afford to get

professional gutters. That was one sweaty week, but boy did I have the experience of a lifetime!!

haha - I’ve only had the job for 2 months so I’d hardly consider my inside work as putting

more than a mere dent in my collection - don’t think I’m not taking advantage of my 30% cast member discount

though.

30% . . . what a GLORIOUS

Sound!

Well, this was the

“Cinderella Summer” - I couldn’t manage to find a summer job (maybe it was simply that I attend school

3,000 miles away), so I kept the house clean for my parents for a “glorified allowance.” I also did a

few odd jobs for some other people here and there… the good thing is that I was never broke… that was

nice.

However, when I get back to school in just over a week, in addition to my studies as an English

major, I’ll work for Media Services, who do things like get the projectors and microphones working so professors

can do their lectures, and stuff like that.

I’m a freelance web designer and programmer, and I work part-time in a bar to bring in some money. I’m trying

to go full-time in web design, but there are really strict laws in Jersey wherein you have to get a special

licence to be able to hire someone who hasn’t been on the island for five years (and if someone else applying

for the job has been on the island for five years and has roughly the same

experience and qualifications, you can’t get the licence), so it’s proving a bit difficult. Just had a second

interview with a company who are licenced to hire me though, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

XD

Strangely enough, I wanted to be an animator for most of my life until my last year of high school, and

Vim wanted to be a web designer – we’ve swapped somewhere along the way! XD

Well, I just graduated

with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, and I’m staying and getting my master’s in aerospace as well. I don’t

have big dreams of working at Pixar, although if they came to me and offered me one, I wouldn’t turn it down!

Hopfeully with a master’s degree finding a good job won’t be difficult, but my dream is to work at NASA (and

make my husband stay at home with the kids).

Wow…Everyone has amazing jobs…*jaw

hangs*

I feel like such a kid- I haven’t even started taking my GCSEs yet, and although I have some ideas

for job possibilities, I don’t have a solid idea of what I want to do when I’m older…I’m looking at going to

Oxford for Sixth Form and Uni, but what I’ll actually take there, subjects-wise, I have no idea on, apart from

the definite English lit/lang and Latin.

I had work experience at a law firm, which was interesting, but

I don’t know if I could ever become a lawyer myself. I recently completed a Young Enterprise course for people

in their teens considering a life in business, and that was very fun so I’m considering something like

that.

Latin!!! Chyea man. Were you in JCL?

If you don’t know what JCL is and what I’m talking about then… nevermind lol.

I took Latin for three years myself, and I don’t know

what JCL is!!

JCL is a latin club (or

“Classics” club) that is nationwide (in the US) for hardcore Latin freaks. Not every school has it so I

wouldn’t worry about it. It stands for Junior Classical League and it’s really fun because they have

conventions and stuff.

Well, my school didn’t have one. They used to have a Latin Honors Society, but that was a

while ago, well before I was a student.

Sadly, my school is slowly moving away from teaching Latin. THey

actually just fired a teacher this past spring!!

Sad thing too. My school in the early days (and by early

I mean no longer than ten years ago) also taught Greek as well as Latin!

Now they seem to simply teaching

Spanish & French. Shame . . .
