Carter Of Mars!
Guys what do you think about this?
It’ll be interesting, I’ll tell you that. This is the
first film that they’ve done that’s not an original idea. One person on Upcoming
Pixar said it is planned as a franchise, but I think it’s just too soon to make that
assumption.
I’m with Bill in that it will most definitely be
a very interesting feature film, especially seeing that it is, as you said Bill, one
of the first Pixar films that is not based on an original premise. (A
Bug’s Life is an exception, as the basic outline/plot of the story was actually
“borrowed” from a film entitled The Seven Samuri, I believe).
Welp, we’ll see what happens! ![]()
I am intrested to see how the John Carter of Mars movie will turn out. Just another exciting
thing to look out for at pixar.
Well, it’s another Pixar animated film, so yeah I’m
excited! I just hope it isn’t too violent.
When is it being released? I just want to know what film (if
any) will be between Wall.E and Toy Story 3.
rachelcakes1985 - It’s going to be an animated film? Well if it is a animated film, it will probably come
out in 2011.
Wait, are we really sure that it is an animated film? Because with the
announcement of 1906, this movie can practically be almost anything.
Though I haven’t heard
officially yet - the comments I’ve read from Lasseter and Catmull seem to point to animation at least.
Yeah I
noticed that too Dash.
This from an Edgar Rice Burroughs forum. Tangor has had his fannish finger in the pie of the last few movie attempts, so what he say’s is real - Jeff
"Chatting with one of the folks who has been called by Pixar to work on the project that is currently in development hell (though a Producer HAS been found), should it be Two or One Thark cities in the beginning?
I’m pretty sure we know the answer to that!
Merely an update that contracts have been signed. Personnel is being gathered (seriously) and…and this is the biggie…nothing moves forward while other projects wrap or wind down.
Apparently CASH FLOW is a problem. Who woulda thunk that???" - Tangor of ERBlist
Jeff again ! While I’m at it, I’ll mention my John Carter Group on -

And JV, I would have sent this to you, but you’ve got no contacts anywhere man ! - Jeff ( artwork by me )
Blazeguard Jeff - First of all, welcome to Pixar Planet!
Secondly, thanks for the information; although, I must say that it’s your incredible artwork that makes it all the more interesting… ![]()
– Mitch
MItch: I think he has been here on Pixar Planet for a while now. ![]()
The Star Swordsman - He only has seven posts, dude. ![]()
True, but he has been here since March.
Oh yeah, look at that! Heh. My apologies. Back on-topic… ![]()
– Mitch
Ookie dookie then!
Well thanks for the welcome, and thanks for remembering me;)
And thanks for the comment on the artwork. I did this when Disney let the rights to the Mars books go, oh - 8 years ago… Kinda wierd that it circled around. I was pretty heart broken when Paramount dumped it too. As you can imagine, I’m rather keen to see it made.
I did up a big portfolio of John Carter of Mars art and sent it to Paramount, then another company is trying to launch Burrough’s Pirates of Venus, and so I’ve been talking with them. They’re at the scripting stages.
You know, I’ve been hearing ( and not from the rumour mill ) that this will be live action. There was that comment about live and animation ‘bringing the story to life’ - but most SF stuff is that anyway isn’t it ?
I’ll keep you guys posted on anything new - Jeff ( who doesn’t really expect to hear more 'till WallE is coming out )
Upcoming Pixar reported ERBzine[/url:1uydl6u2] news of Pixar’s creative team excitedly researching [i:1uydl6u2]John Carter of Mars[/i:1uydl6u2]. The planned film trilogy has a projected release date sometime before 2012.
