Kung Fu Panda 2

kungfupanda.com/

Dreamworks has added this to their website. I’m excited for it.

Kung Fu Panda is just what was best for Dreamworks made me love the movie, I hope the two are so funny and the story is very well explained.

I thought the first one was pretty good, if a little predictable, but I am sad to hear that there’s going to be a sequel. Much like with most Pixar movies, this movie from Dreamworks was very neatly wrapped up at the end with the main characters having come full circle, so I can’t help but feel that any continuation of the story is not for art’s sake, but rather for the money.

DUH.

By the way, this is being released in the same month as Cars 2, so hopefully the latter will win the box office war.

Wow. Just wow. I haven’t seen the first, so no comment.

KFP2 is coming out in May, and C2 is coming out in June.
I doubt that this is all for the money. It actually has lots of potential. The Head of Story from the first film is directing this, and Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman is writing the screenplay.
This is the only time ever that DWA pushed forth a sequel that’s not all for profit, IMO.

(I still want Cars 2 to make more money. )

The Chicken Man- Nothing like a bit of old-fashioned politeness, eh?

The reason I pointed out the money vs. artistic value argument is that it might seem to some that Dreamworks is starting to turn around due to the critical acclaim of How To Train Your Dragon. I think it’s a shame that they’re returning to their usual ways, as such.

Though you do have a point, TAMATER, seems like they’ve got a few good people in on this one, so who knows?

As for its competition with Cars 2, I think that’s going to be a tough one. I do hope Cars 2 does better, but I think it’s going to be very close.

Ooohhh… burned!

Wow, TAMATER, you really are eager to get the first scoop on every film, aren’t ya? But I’m very glad you posted the link. You have no idea how excited I am to see more adventures with Po and the gang (Not to mention the possible plot developments with regards with Po x Tigress, Viper x Crane, possible returning characters, etc.). The synopsis sounds like an origins-story, a trend which is all the rage nowadays. Hopefully it’ll be as good as the first.

Like Cars, this is one of the films (I M Most H O) that neatly ties things up, yet leaves room for more, unlike say Avatar or How to Train Your Dragon. The fact that [spoil]Shifu[/spoil] lives and continues to jibe with Po as the credits begin in the first movie indicates there’s more to come (Just like how Cars ended with Lightning and Sally’s interrupted kiss).

Both Cars and KFP are my favourite ‘entertaining-repeat-viewings’ films from both studios (while the robot and the dragon are the ‘untouchable-awesome-masterpieces’ counterparts). Between the Porsche and the Panda, it’s gonna be a tough showdown next year!

How to Train Your Dragon’s epicness can be attributed to Chris Sanders, the director of THAT specific film; not the Dreamworks corporation that just gave him the budget.

Personally, I bleieved that KFP was Dreamworks’s best animated film since Shrek. Now while I’m a little excited for a sequel, my biggest concern is that they start running the sequel train like they did with the Shrek movies.

I think KFP2 will get pushed back, DreamWorks has said barely anything about it.

I’ve heard that the bad guy is gonna be a peacock.

Evil peacocks? AWESOME.

I’d just like to point out how tacky that title is.

Sigh… Another movie franchise that has expanded to a sequel. Just like Shrek. But KFP2 VS Cars 2 DING DING!!! Box Office Showdown!!!.
It’s the audiances choice on what they will see, we have till a year.

Here’s the cast list from Wikipedia:

I just really like the title “Kaboom of Doom” :sunglasses:

HAve we got a release date for this yet?

@TSS- I think its getting released at the 26th of May.

What I’m truly waiting for is how this film will performs against Cars 2. Both are sequels and are very much loved, Cars being embraced by young boys and Kung Fu Panda liked for being an improvement by Dreamworks and having a good story. I think many will be anticipating how Pixar pull off a sequel of a non-Toy Story film and it’ll receive more attention than of Kung Fu Panda, but if Pixar fail to deliver, Kung Fu Panda may win out. I just hope Cars 2 isn’t a mediocre film.

I’d rather watch KFP2 than Cars 2, though. Cars just doesn’t interest me. I’m much, much more excited for Brave.

Sequels just aren’t as good as new movies… but TS3 is AMAZING.

I’ll look at this one nonetheless. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’d be surprised how many female fans there are on this forum…

Anyway, this is incredible. Two of my favourite franchises from the best animation studios in the world go head-to-head next year. Who will win? The panda? Or the race-car? Or better yet, the moviegoer?

Gaaah… the suspension, I mean, the obesity, I mean, the sheer awesomeness of it is killing me!
