It’s almost an unwritten rule that sequels have to be worse than the origin movies, but KFP broke that rule.
And it was so awesome. As Po would say.
ALL HAIL LORD SHEN:p he reminds me a lot of The Mandarin from Iron Man comics…which is why I love 'im. There seem to be a lot of Shen fans here. We should have an official group. And our theme song could be ‘I WANNA SEE YOUR PEACOCKCOCKCOCKCOCK, YOUR PEACOCKCOCKCOCKCOCK!!’ Inappropriate as it sounds, it fits…
It’s funny. Never saw the first KFP in the theatre and I was never keen, but I went to see this one with a group of friends and I adored it. I think the characterisations were better, and I loved the backstory with Po being orphaned. I didn’t find it dark though: Antz, and certain parts of How To Train Your Dragon, were a lot darker.
I forgot how antz goes, but I think some part of HTYD were indeed darker. Especially when they go to the Dragon’s nest and the end…Hiccup [spoil]losing his freakin’ leg! That’s not something you see every day.[/spoil]
I know there are people on here who like Po and Tigress together, but I don’t like the idea of two completely different animals getting together. I don’t care if it’s a cartoon. I don’t like it, and it gives me a weird feeling.
If they get together, I’ll be disgusted, not only because they’re of different species, but also because I dislike her character and because this is a good, shipper-free franchise.
yeah…me too…just friends is enough. The fact that Tigress cares about Po enough to hug him (which I found so SWEET!) is okay, at least he kind of peeled away her ‘hardcore’ exterior.
But a full-bore relationship?
No way.
That’s one thing I like about these movies. I like romance and all, but I feel a lot of the time movies force it on characters because they think that to be a good movie you need a romance. And then they put in places that don’t seem natural.
I’m glad someone agrees! She’s not my favorite character. I thought she was kind of mean in the first movie. She was a little nicer in the second one, and I liked it when she hugged Po, but I just want them to be friends.
You probably don’t want to watch the animated series then. Inter-species romance is confirmed canon there. There were hints of canon in Po’s daydream sequence in the first film anyway (a bunny was crushing on him and this wasn’t shown as odd at all.)
But anyways, I sorta ship it? I’m in this weird spot where I love their relationship, but I’m not sure at what level. Heck, even the commentary made a quick nod to being unsure where this relationship is going, so apparently the staff are just as confused by their own ‘friendship story.’
But anyways, I got to see this again for the first time since the theatrical release, and the animation… just… the beautiful, beautiful visuals everywhere and the emotional writing. I love this film. <3
Yes, I love the idea of Dreamworks integrating different kinds of animation into their work, especially if there’s some sort of storytelling aspect to it (like the shadow puppets). It makes me more excited for projects like Me and My Shadow.
