I’m still enthusiastic for this movie. We’re seeing Cars 2 on my birthday, but maybe I’ll still get to see this movie somehow. I hope.
I’m thinking I’ll wait for this one to come out on DVD. I’ve already been to the theatre 2 times this month, and I’ll be seeing Pirates.
Plus The Hangover Part II comes out when KFPII comes out, and I’d much rather watch the return of the Wolf Pack anyday!
IV: Don’t stop believin’!
EJE: Ugh… Hangover Part II? Is it worth watching in cinemas? I haven’t watched the first, but it doesn’t look like ‘big-screen’ material to me.
I’m wondering whether I should book a ticket to see the Australian premiere here. It’s a whopping AUD25 (and since it’s on parity with the American greenback, that’s around the same in USD), about the price of a student IMAX ticket here.
But, but… there are gonna be guest presenters! Jack Black, Lucy Liu, Jeffrey Katzenberg (ah, the good ol’ bald egghead) and Jennifer Yuh, the director! Personally, I really want to see the ladies and I can’t give a flying kick about the guys. I wish they invited Jackie Chan or Gary Oldman instead.
I can’t wait to see Kung Fu Panda 2 as well. Right next to Cars 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
I believe it is! It’s all a matter of opinion, and for me that movie looks 10000x more entertaining then KFPII. Plus spending a night on the town with my friends and going to see Hangover Part II on the big screen sounds immensly fun. Sure, it’s the exact same plot as the first one, but there will still be a lot of laughs! It’s one of those silly movies that is a lot of fun to see with a group of good friends, making it big-screen material for me.
10000 times? Surely Panda doesn’t look that bad to you, does it?
I think she’s exagerrating. There’s no way anything can be 10000 times better than Kung Fu Panda 2. Maybe a 100 times better (like having a chocolate fudge sundae lying on a deckchair on a desert island with the complete works of Shakespheare), but I doubt a 10000.
It was a hyporbole. Extreme Exageration.
Bottom line is I’d rather see that then this, comprende?
Comprendo, but still, 10000 times, even if it is an exaggeration, would seem to indicate some massive disdain for this film.
I honestly didn’t mean it like that. It’s not like I chart out my zeros. I just pressed them until I felt like stopping. I do want to see this movie, just not in theatres. I like the original KFP. If it bothers people so much, then I’ll watch the zeros then.
So last night I was watching the Colbert Report. Stephen was talking about how pandas are deadly creatuers who be feared. He said “Scientists say that Panda’s can’t even harm a fly. Well WHY THEN are they learning Kung Fu!?!?”
And then he showed a clip from the KFP2 trailer. Oh Stephen, you’re so silly!
I personally do want to see it in theaters, if I can. I’m a wee bit more excited for Cars 2, but I intend to see both. I’ve never seen The Hangover-and probably can’t. Honestly, though, even with all the movies I watch, I doubt I would like the Hangover very much. I only like comedies with a purpose(Napoleon Dynamite, Aladdin, Toy Story, some Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler stuff). I may see it, and I haven’t decided to dislike it or anything like that. But even when I’m allowed to see it-I doubt it’ll be my cup of tea.
Understandable! Everyone has different opinions. But I think The Hangover is one of those movies that does have a purpose. Especially when compared to Napoleon Dynamite. I like both, but The Hangover had a much more solid plot.
I guess so. Again, I haven’t seen the Hangover. It just seems like one of those movies that doesn’t have a single minute without a joke through the entire running time. Napoleon Dynamite is obviously a comedy-primarily a visual one-but deep down, it means everyone needs friends, even us “freaks”. I’m sure the Hangover has a moral compass, I’ll just have to see it to decide what it is.
As I mentioned on the Box-Office thread, I’m hoping to see KFP2 on its gala premiere. I have received a call-out from my university magazine (that is sent to all contributing writers) for someone to do an interview for KFP2, and I have submitted my expression of interest and some of my best interview works yesterday (I also mentioned I should be free that week and I may be paying to watch the premiere screening). I haven’t received a reply from my editor, but fingers crossed, I will get assigned to cover it.
I’m really nervous, because the guest speakers at the Sydney premiere screening are Jack Black, Lucy Liu, Jeffrey Katzenberg (the bald CEO) and Jennifer Yuh (the lovely director), and the interview date is the same as the premiere screening. So if I get chosen for the assignment, I may have to interview a few or all of them! So I’m sort of wishing I get the gig, but sort of nervous if I do.
I will almost certainly be watching the Australian premiere screening though, if all the seats are not sold out yet. Very steep price, $25 (almost as much as student IMAX ticket at Darling Harbour), but with the stellar lineup of guest presenters, it should be worth it!
So excited to see the response in America this weekend. Ratings on RT are Fresh at 79% and Audience Anticipation is 91%. 67% on IMDB. Here’s to the Panda pulling some Awesomeness this summer!
Hope you get the Gig man and do not be nervous celebrities are people just like us!Haha i forget which magazine ive seen that in but they have a segment every week with pictures of celebs screwing up.
How amazing would that be! I wish you the best of luck tdit, and hope you get picked!
surprisingly I got a free pass to see Kung Fu Panda 2 next week on Wednesday, that would be almost 2 weeks earlier than its national release here (June 10), now I am gonna check out how it is, right now RT score stands at 72% (Rio’s final grade)
Welll, it’s almost time! I’ve stayed out of this thread long enough. I can’t wait to see it. All of the promos have really gotten me really hyped aobut it.
Thanks YouAreAToy and EJE! I sent it the day before yesterday and I haven’t got a reply yet! Tomorrow will be Friday, so hopefully I’ll get a reply by then.
Worse come to worse, I’ll be attending the premiere screening. I’m heading to a cinema at Circular Quay (where the Opera House is) to buy a ticket, the premiere is one of the highlights of the Sydney Film Festival, and when they had it back in '08, I missed KFP’s premiere at the State Theatre. So I’m not gonna let it happen again- hopefully they still have seats!
bryan and TSS, I’m very eager to hear your reviews once you return. Roger Ebert gave it a pretty warm review, although he’s known for being aggressively anti-3D after Avatar cheesed him off.
Also, new featurette on Apple Trailers! Don’t watch if you don’t wanna find out what Lord Shen’s secret weapon is (I’m kinda disappointed, but it does make sense, especially in light of [spoil]Chinese history[/spoil]).
I’m a little confused; is it opening this Friday or on June 10th in US?
