Longest Pixar Short film

On Wikipedia it says that Mater and the Ghostlight is

going to be a record long for a Pixar short film “8”

minutes.

What do you guys think about

this?

That is an unsourced comment on Wikipedia. I’m very

dubious as to its accuracy.

Although I wouldn’t complain if it was true!

Ditto, RMS- the more Mater, the better!

Hmm, I think 5-7 minutes is the best time.

Woah! Eight minutes? That’s

wonderful…

8 minutes huh? The two shorts on the Incredibles are about

4 minutes, 40 seconds each. Mater and the Ghostlight is like double that.

Jack-Jack attack was that long? It seemed like it

lasted only two minutes at the most; at least, to me it did. Of course, that’s probably because I love it so

much.

Well, the longer the better! I’m sure I’ll love Mater and the

Ghostlight…

Yep, JJA and Boundin is both 4 minutes, 40 seconds.

Well, what do you know. You’d think that I, being an ultimate Pixar fan,

would know that. :unamused:

Strange that

it’d be that much longer compared to other shorts, but if it’s true, I’m definitely not complaining. An extra

four minutes during the loooong wait for the next new thing to come out of Pixar.

And I loooooooove

Mater!

The guy who added the 8-minute info

has stated he got this info from the Disney Adventure Magazine, so I guess it’s official.

Hmm, well I guess just the more Pixar for us eh.

Sweet! Now there’s more to love!

I can confirm that info, for I

too have read it in my Disney Adventures magazine.

Could you post that page in the Disney Adventures magazine about that Mater and the Ghostlight

short film being 8 min. long?

Git 'r dun! :nerd:

This is on page 26 of the November 2006 issue of Disney

Adventures magazine.

Mater’s Spooky Adventure

One

of the cool extras on the Cars DVD is a short film called Mater And The Ghostlight. When the Cars creators did

research for the movie, they heard about a famous legend–travelers on lonely stretches of Route 66 sometimes saw

a ghostly light late at night. So the filmmakers added two references to the ghostlight in Cars. During the

tractor-tipping scene, Mater tells Lightning that later he’ll show him the ghostlight; and when the media buzzes

around and a helicopter shines a spotlight, Mater says, “It’s the ghostlight!”

Once the movie

was finished, the creators thought it would be fun for Mater to take on the ghostlight. So they made a short

film that takes place after the movie–when Lightning lives in Radiator Springs.

At nearly eight minutes,

Mater And The Ghostlight is the longest short that Pixar has ever

done!
