Maggie- Nice work! A combination of strong lineart and good shading makes this a very sweet piece. I especially love the slightly happy-go-lucky smile on her face.
She looks very nice and as, Mitch said, you got the clothes almost dead on.
I can’t wait to see your other drawings!
Thanks everyone! That’s actually my favorite Colette drawing!
Wow, I feel honored when that comes from such an amazing artist like you!
Wow, I did? Really? How does she looks in regular clothes in the movie, can you tell me?
Thanks! I’m actually working on another Colette drawing; last night I was inspired by the music “I’m With You”, by Avril Lavigne… But you’ll have to wait and see!
Maggie- I’m not very good at explaining stuff so I’ll let, Mitch take this one.
I await your Colette drawing with open arms!
Maggie - If I remember correctly, Colette wore a black, leather jacket over a dark-colored (blue/grey?) shirt. I believe she also doned a pair of jeans, but I’ll have to watch the film again to refresh my memory.
Oh, and you’re welcome! Good luck on your next Colette drawing!
I too would like to wish you a good luck and a can’t wait for your next artwork. i get so excited everytime someone draws a new one.
Mitch - Tanks for the explanation!
Thanks for the good luck wishes on my next Colette piece! I think they were granted…!
Like I said before, this next one was inspired by Avril Lavigne’s I’m With You. It just hit me when I heard the very first lyrics…
I’m standing on the bridge
I’m waiting in the dark
I thought that you’d be here by now
There’s nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I’m listening but there’s no sound…
OK, enough talking, you guys just want to see the pic…
EDIT, August 17th, 2007: Finally, I’ve got a scanner, and I’m replacing all the images I’ve shown so far. This is the better resolution one:
I even came up with some sort of a story about this piece…
We all know that Colette is very gritty and strong-minded because it was very hard to be a woman in the world of haute cuisine. But she also doesn’t like men that much because of a love deception she had in the past…
It was at night in Paris, and she was waiting for a guy who never came to pick her up. She waited for him for hours, at the top of the bridge and in the rain, but he never came.
Yeah, it’s a crappy and ridiculous story, I know.
But I hope you enjoy this one!
Wow Maggie, COllete looks absolutely incredible. Nice work that you have done with her. She looks so sad. it makes me want to give her a hug right now.
Wow Maggie that is an incredible job!!!
Oh wow! I’d have to say that that’s your best Colette drawing yet. I love the use of colors and her expression is so sad.
Your little story to go along with it is interesting. Have you considered writing a fanfiction? I’m sure it would be really good.
Thanks guys!
Really? Well, than I guess the work was worth, it’s not easy to get the texture of wet hair. And I also think that the background is kinda crappy.
Yeah, I know, but I still can’t believe I made Colette, who is a very strong-minded woman, look sad!
I don’t know, sharpie, I’m not very good with fanfics. Besides, my English vocabulary may be big, but not that big.
Your welcome.
But it is something that no one would expect of her, which impacts the cuteness so much.
Great Colette drawing Maggie, even sad she looks in character…
Maggie- Aww, so sad! Her hair looks amazing- it really has that drenched look about it- and her expression…Aww…But, as Pixfan said, despite being so sad, she still looks very in character.
Pixfan and lizardgirl - Thanks!
Last night, I was looking at that Colette drawing and I wondered…
What if Linguini was there to comfort her?
Then, all I had to do was grabbing a white sheet of paper, a pencil and an eraser, and what came out was this…

I like it, but here comes my self critique:
- Colette’s mouth looks weird;
- Linguini’s arms look weird;
- The background is crappy (again! );
- I think Linguini looks kinda like Ron Stoppable!
It’s good to draw spontaneously, you know lettin your imagination go. And a self critique is good as long as your not too hard on urself (which you didn’t do).
Maybe I can help you a little:
-
A person’s mouth can only curve up but so far…you crossed that line, doing the expression in a mirrior will help lots.
-
You can do two things: bring the elbow a lil closer to his body, or bring him closer to her. (I recommend the second one)
-
take more time to work on the background is all, it all depends on what your focus is on.
-
Yea, I kinda agree, the only reason for that is his head shape. From what I’ve observed, Linguini’s chin is closer to his neck. All it takes is a lil reference to solve that problem, it makes you no less of an artist.
Great job overall though!
Hope this helped
Thanks a lot, Pixfan!
P.S.: You really like using the “Mr. Green” emoticon, don’t you?
No prob.
Yea, I adopted it as soon as I joined.
Edit: Oh, yea I almost forgot, it looks like Colette had her arms crossed right? If they are, there should be a little bump where her elbows would be under the jacket.
Jus a quick tip.

OK, thank you!
