I personally have the thought in the recesses of my mind that this movie could be okay. I don’t like motion capture, either. But, heck, I’m not a fan of any films made in live action, and I still watch the heck out of PotC, James Bond, Star Wars, etc. Medium does not make a movie good or bad.
It does if watching it makes you want to throw up, which is how I feel whenever I see any of this motion capture stuff. It worked fine in Happy Feet, but even that had a lot of uncanny valley moments.
Okay, if it makes you nauseous, I can understand that. seeing a mediocre movie is not worth releasing your lunch. I just think this has a small trifle of potential.
I agree about motion capture being a cause of nausea.

Same here! It makes sense, but I just can’t watch it for too long.
Finally saw this movie. The “uncanny valley” vibe is somewhat present, mostly in the look of Milo and his mother, maybe a little bit in Gribble. All the aliens looked fine. Overall, the movie was a decent, enjoyable effort. The negative hype is way out of proportion to the actual quality of the film, which is too bad. Also, there is some neat visual reference to Invaders From Mars (1953).
