Meet the Robinsons

Here’s the trailer for Disney’s next animated flick…

apple.com/trailers/disney/meettherobinsons/

Looks good! The teaser
itself seemed a bit thrown together, though, and focused too much on the Bowler Hat Guy - almost like screaming, “LOOK! LOOK! We have a decent villain for the first time in ages!”. We only saw, like, what, one shot of Wilbur? But that aside, I get good vibes from this trailer, unlike the one for Chicken Little (I wanted my money back from that movie).

Oh yeah, and those sketches of BHG are awesome.

I actually did get good vibes from the CL trailers. I was disappointed after seeing the movie, but it was still kinda cute. But I think that’s all it was…cute.

I’m hoping Meet The Robinsons will knock the feathers off Chicken Little. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/grinandwink.gif” alt=“;-D” title="Grin and

I like the look of this one, actually - I didn’t see

Chicken Little [that’s just how damaged I was after Home on the Range!] but I’ll

definitely see this

Oooh, looks good! It’s already

exceeded my expectations with that trailer actually. I’ve not been too impressed with Disney lately,

Brother Bear was the last really good movie they did. Home on the

Range made me cringe.

I dunno. Brother Bear was okay for me. Maybe I should watch it

again. I know after watching Tarzan a few more times, I liked it a whole lot more.

Home On The Range was

nicely animated, but it wasn’t so great.

And Chicken Little…If it hadn’t been for Fish and Kirby, it

would receive a much lower grade from me.

However, Meet The Robinsons is going to be a hit. I know it!

Am I the only person who actually enjoyed Home on the

Range? - Not loved - just enjoyed. And “Will the Sun Ever Shine Again” is a personal favorite for me

amongst Disney songs

What do you guys

think of how Pixar changed up a good percentage of the film? A lot of the Disney people sounded pissed … but

it’s probably for the best. Disney needs SOMEONE critiquing their bums in the right direction.

The teaser

was a little random though - I mean it does look good, but it did feel a little slapped together. I was actually

surprised they had one out … considering all the revising they’re suppose to be doing.

It does seemed a little thrown together, but at least we

have something to hold us over for a while.

And you’re absolutely right. Pixar needs to help :whip:

Disney back into shape.

I’ve simply refused to see non-PIXAR films. SO far that meant boycotting even Chicken

Little, Valiant, and The Wild.

I

don’t know if I’ll see this one. I know PIXAR has been working on editing and getting it into better shape,

even so late in the game . . . but I don’t know.

Maybe I’ll start seeing some Disney 3-D after PIXAR

has returned it to it’s former glory.

Until then, I think the next animated film I’ll see is

Ratatouille.

It looks good, but I doubt I’ll see it. I don’t trust

non-Pixar films. Well … I did see a couple non-Pixar 3-D films, the good ones, in my opinion, were- Ice Age 1

&2, the Shrek films … and I believe that’s it. I saw Madagascar, Robots, and Valiant, and they weren’t

too great. Well … Robots was the only one I enjoyed out of the three. But that still lacked something.

I

don’t think I’ll ever see Chicken Little. It just looks too weird, and I’ve heard lots of bad things about it

from my brother, who’s the only one I know who saw it.

But Meet The Robinsons … I dunno- I’ll have to

see several commercials before I decide on whether or not I’ll go see it.

Wasn’t a fan of Robots, I haven’t seen Valiant but I did enjoy Ice Age 2 - I definitely was

not keen on The Wild, I thought that some of it was very funny, but that overall, Madagascar was better.

Valiant was decent, good animation and an original

plot, but I saw Robots and Madagascar on a plane (alas,

there were no snakes), and I felt quite glad I hadn’t paid to see them.

Robots was too slap-stick comedy and no strong story, and

Madagascar was just far too fast-paced. I did laugh at quite a few scenes ('You

got to shake it, shake it!'), but I think it had the potential to be much better than it was. I’m refusing to

see The Wild judging from the animation alone.

Completely. They

had great side characters - the penguins and the lemurs (in fact – that ‘Christmas Caper’ short with the

penguins was way funnier that the whole of Madagascar. But the story sucked and a lot of the animation bugged me.

It felt like the whole thing was an introduction … and they drove themselves into a corner with the whole

‘eating your best friend’ issue. You don’t GO anywhere from a plot corner like that. And now they have a

sequel. Meh - they should have just stayed in New York City the entire time - thats the only part I liked in the

movie.

As for Robots - I gave it a chance … but in the end, I cared little about the characters and

wanted Halle Berry kicked out of voice acting for good. Anyone notice - her character had NO point? Too many

characters for that matter – at least when Pixar has a lot of characters, they’re all there for a reason and

are lovable. And must all these movies be packed to death with horrible celebrity voices that give nothing to the

film? And the random inserting of pop songs? Gah.

That’s why I appriciate the music in Cars – when its

there, it has a reason to be – not just another commercial for the soundtrack.

Anyways … I gotta admit,

the bad movies make me appriciate the good ones all the more.

Madagascar was carried by the penguins. In fact, there’s something about penguins that just

make a movie - esp. animated ones. Let’s consider… Marry Poppins, March of the Penguins, Madagascar (without

penguins Madagascar is merely The Wild which did have penguins curling in what I thought was a classic scene but

they were severly underused),.

Now - let’s consider animated penguins and give them Jamaican accents and

starring Robin William - this is why I’m looking forward to Happy Feet.

Disney needs help.

Badly. Their movie-making skills have completely tanked- I grew up on the Golden Age of Disney, so the recent

stuff has just made me sad. Mulan was their last good musical, and I refuse to see Disney computer animated

films that don’t involve Pixar. They just can’t write themselves out of a cardboard box anymore. I saw Robots

and was unimpressed by the story as well as the animation. I saw Ice Age 2 and was completely underwhelmed by

the lack of a decent story. I think they crammed a whole half hour’s worth into the film. Bad writing can

really kill a film, no matter how well animated it is, just as good writing can turn a ridiculous premise into

something amazing.

So, when Disney gets better writers, I may start seeing their movies again. Until

then, I’m getting all our old VHS movies transferred to DVD so my kids will someday have real movies to watch.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Who wouldn’t love the concept of Robin Williams as a

bunch of penguins?! I’m surprised he never turned into one in ‘Aladdin’.

In all fairness, these were both Blue Sky productions and had nothing to do

with Disney. The only 3D film Disney has ever done was Chicken Little which was actually a very good first try

IMO - I will admit that I was underwhelmed with the story much in the way of Treasure Planet, Atlants, and Home

on the Range, but Fish Out of Water and Kirby were probly the two best characters to come out of Disney since

Stitch.

Touche! Though in my defense it was so bad that I had put it out of my mind - thus

the reason I forgot about it =P

LOL!

Dinosaur remains to this day the one Disney film I couldn’t even finish watching.

I was actually bored – shock, horror!

Okay, my bad with not being clear- I’m fully aware Ice Age 2 and Robots weren’t Disney

items. They were just plain bad. The Disney CG films I just haven’t seen, because I can’t make myself sit

through them. Well, maybe I would if they came to the Apollo and I could watch them for $2… except not,

because Chicken Little and Valiant came, and I just couldn’t be bothered to spend $2 and an evening watching

films I knew I wouldn’t like. This didn’t stop me with Ice Age 2, but it was more of an "agh, exams are

killing my brain lets see movie now" deal.
