Aw, I thought they were done with the [spoil]dance parties.[/spoil]
I want to see it, but I have no chance of that. Sorry. But, the DW youtube page added me as a friend.

I think Dreamworks is getting progressively better with their films, ever since How To Train Your Dragon (ok, Shrek 4 was a misstep again). I honestly couldn’t find any real flaws with the story overall, although I do agree that the Dance Party Ending was a bit distracting (actually it seems like a lot of films are doing that these days: Alice In Wonderland, Toy Story 3), and found their Super Villain interpretation kind of refreshing. Sort of like a The Incredibles meets Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.
Oh and of course Tina Fey was as awesome as always.
I recently found this out, but when Ben Stiller was working as a voice over, he asked Dreamworks why they haven’t made a movie starring a SuperVillian. Eventually, Dreamworks made that movie. They asked Ben Stiller to voice Megamind, but he was too busy doing other projects. But he did have 2 lines in the movie.
Actually, I thought they were getting better since KFP. They seem to understand “heart” now. Even Shrek 4 was pretty good. It’s the most emotionally involved Shrek movie. My friend who didn’t enjoy it overall cried when Shrek [spoil]“died”[/spoil]
All Dreamworks films since How To Train Your Dragon, and without counting Shrek 4 add up to… 2. How to Train Your Dragon and Megamind.
If they’re getting progressively better, then Megamind is superior to HTTYD, which is something I don’t agree with.
You people seem to be forgetting Kung Fu Panda, which also was a marvelous movie.
OK, so that was just my opinion and yeah I can agree with KFP and HTTD. I’d also like to include probably the first two Shrek films as well as maybe parts of Madagascar 1 (although that’s stretching it). I’m not saying that MegaMind was better than HTTD, just that I personally found it slightly more enjoyable, with the moral being a lot less anvilicious and the plot being very bizarre and inventive.
I’m kind of suprised that people on this site seem to agree with me that not all Dreamworks films suck, what with this being PIXAR Planet and everything. Most fans I know simply write off Dreawmworks as being “lousy, shoddy work unfit for theaters” and it’s good to see we aren’t simply one-studio people.
^ Well, until I saw Kung Fu Panda, I did think that.
HtTYD
KFP
Prince of Egypt
Road to El Dorado
Shrek/2
Madagascar(1!)
I want to see Megamind.
You should it’s a really good Super Hero movie. Not as great as The Incredibles, obviously, but still a very fine piece of work from them.
I’m really, really glad to see that DreamWorks isn’t getting so much hate recently on this forum. Really am.
I hope Megamind will be cool. I may even watch it in the cinema…
Not to burst anyone’s bubble or anything, but I found that I enjoyed Megamind much, much more than TI. Just my personal opinion.
The only things I had a problem with Megamind was the fact that the movie felt too rushed; they didn’t expound on a lot of stuff that happened, and it felt like you were being pulled through the movie instead of actually taking the time to understand what was happening. I also didn’t enjoy all the pop music that they threw in there. :\ But other than that, I thought it was really cute.
Actually, I must’ve liked it quite a bit because I… um, started drawing some fanart… Yay!
And, for the record - I love KFP, and I have been wanting to watch it again for quite some time now (I have only seen it once).
That’s a pretty grand claim, Daughter of Eve. But hey, it’s great to be open-minded… if Megamind impresses me more than The Incredibles, so be it (I’d be truly surprised and delighted if they did!).
Ah, but did it make you cry like a Pixar movie does? I’d have to say Despicable Me got me closest to the waterworks this year, surprisingly.
Did you see the KFP 2 teaser before your viewing? I can’t wait to gauge audience reactions if my cinema plays it for my next viewing! [size=75]And did you participate in Po’s staring contest?[/size]
Please post Megamind fanart. Thankew.
…
Ever wonder how revenge would be served Autotuned?
Whahaha, that’s hilarious! ITS REVENGE! >:3
Actually, the only Pixar movie that got me even remotely close to crying was WALL-E. It takes quite a bit to make me cry. And no - Megamind didn’t make me cry.
I didn’t even know that it was supposed to be a staring contest, actually. Some kid happened to blurt something really loud right as Po said something, so I didn’t really catch what he was supposed to be doing. I thought it wasn’t a very interesting trailer, though. But it was a teaser, so I wasn’t expecting it to have much about the movie, anyways. :\
I most certainly will after I get it all done. Although, I must say, it would be so much easier if I had the DVD right now so I can actually screencap frames that I need. But hey - maybe, if I get the chance to see it again, I can sneak my sketchbook into the theater. (That is, if no one catches me…!)
I really do want to see this one. Reformed Villian saving the world ? How Original is that ?
Actually, I agree with you Daughter Of Eve. I mean I really liked The Incredibles and especially their emphasis on family, but I actually enjoyed some parts of MegaMind better. I thought that the villain-hero’s motivation in MegaMind , depression after finally achieving his life goal, was much more interesting than “retired superhero wanting to return to his roots”. Maybe I’m just being contemporary but I always enjoy the villains much more than the heroes, and I absolutely loved MM’s inventive twist on this.
Neither film made me cry though.
Well, there were two movies about that subject in just the last months. And just in animation.
So…
Mm, I think the main difference between Despicable Me and Mega Mind is that Gru was never really “evil” as opposed to a grand thief who wanted to be evil. Mega Mind on the other hand, is evil just for the pure fun of being a villain, and [spoil] after he laughs at how he finally murders Metro Man[/spoil] he does have actual villainous tendencies.
Ok, there’s an “evilness scale”.
But the subject is the same, and neither of them was the first one to use it.
Not that this is something wrong. All stories in the world have basically been told one and once again.
I’m not going to compare MM to The Incredibles. First of all, I haven’t seen MM. Second of all, I can’t be fair with movies, because I get obsessed with certain ones. If this movie is better than The Incredibles, than fine. But it’s about which films you connect with, and the first 2/3 of the TS series are the only ones to compare to my current obsession. I doubt MM will replace it, though Kung Fu Panda came close…
