Mirage

There is so much to talk about this character of mystery. What do you

guys think about her?

Mirage has to be one of my favorite characters in the

film, The Incredibles. One can’t help but wonder what her backround history was

like…

Where did she come from? What led her to partner with – and eventually become rather attatched

to – Syndrome/Buddy Pine? Was she ever involved with the NSA at some point? How much information does she really

know/has gathered over the years?

Although we don’t know much about her, the very mysterious quality

about Mirage is intriguing. I also can’t help but think that Pixar purposefully created Colette to look like

Mirage’s sister…in a way. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll start out with this. We

all know that it was her lust for power that got her involved with Syndrome and his affairs. She was blinded from

what was right. It wasn’t until Syndrome took a gamble with her life. This made her realize that she had been

working with the wrong person and it was time to change.

As for an ending, here is my theory. She goes and

works with the NSA as a secretary for Rick, after seeing how much of a valuble member she is.

Mirage…hmm.

A very interesting character, my guess is she was living the

fast life as some PR geek. She gotta liitle too cocky and found Syndrome, who needed someone like her to be the

“face” of his entire operation. Being somebody who always wanted to be at the top of everything, a job

in a secret orginization fit her perfectly. But once Syndrome gambled with her life, she understood how

“high” she was and how dangerous it was “up there”. She quit Syndrome and, well what

TSS said…

You both have very nice theories, and they seem to fit as perfectly as a piece in a jigsaw

puzzle.

Mirage didn’t really seem like “power-hungry” type, although it only makes sense that

she would be if she wound up working for someone like Syndrome. Turns out that her lust got the better of her, as

you both stated…

I also agree with you, The Star Sworsdman, in that Mirage

more-than-likely “recruited” to the NSA department…due to the fact that the information she obtained

would be quite valuable to the association.

Um… Yea you guys said it way better than I could, although some people seem to be under the missconception

that she has superpowers, but in fact she does not. It’s an understandable mistake as her name suggests some

sort of power.

My guess is that she used to work for a technology company, but was unhappy with her

position, then Syndrome found her and, wel the rest is history

Mitch: Thank you for your

complements.

Here is another thing to ponder. Mirage tells Mr. Incredible that "niether of [them]

exsist." So I want to know from all of you guys. Do you think Mirage could be a Super Hero? And if so, what

could be her powers.

The Star Swordsman - You are most welcome.

Mirage -

Powers: Looking good and

tracking people down in two seconds flat.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, hence her name, Mirage, I think she make make illusions of herslf and others. Her

sexiness gives her powers much more. She looks beautiful, but intil you look on the inside and behind her.

Maybe she’s the descendant

of a Super? So she would have the “mystiq” qualities of one, but less of the in your face

stuff.

This stuff is fun to talk about! :sunglasses:

Okay, but where did

the name Mirage come from? There must be some background there.

TSS – Yeah, I agree. As I said, she could be

descended from a Super…so maybe she has some faint “whisper” of the qualities her families once had.

Coming from a line of Supers but not having their powers, probably made her more willing to join with

Syndrome.

TSS- ‘Mirage’ may not even be her real name. It may just be a nickname, and may

even have been made up by Syndrome himself, since he definitely considers Mirage as his sort of prize, like he

owns her and can do what he likes with her, and that she makes him look good.

Also, there’s the possible

theory that Mirage may have had powers before, but then lost them in some kind of incident. This would also

explain why she had partnered up with Syndrome, who was also trying to prove himself without powers; the two of

them would have shared the same sort of experiences and goals.

lizardgirl - That’s some interesting speculation, and it does make quite a lot

of sense. “Mirage” certainly doesn’t sound like a real name to be called by, so the possiblity that it

is only her nick-name is certainly plausible.

And the whole idea of her once obtaining powers, but then

having them be disposed of or lost in some way, is also an interesting theory…

My real question everybody is what is the real meaning behind the name Mirage?

You mean from Pixar’s perspective? I guess

you would say it symbolizes her myserious-ness. Mirage makes me think of wisps of smoke, kinda like her

personality…somehow.

Gasduude - Yeah, my thoughts exactly. She disappears and

reappears when you least expect her to, and when you think she is there once second…she’s gone the next. Real

mirages also appear blurry from a distance, and the fact that Mirage carries that particular name may suggest

that her true identity is rather “fuzzy” in a way: no one knows that much about her, except for

Syndrome.

Or how it could mean something else like this.

Mirages give us a faint

vision of something that isn’t there. For most SUpers, they see it as an opportunity to get back into action.

The Mirage part is that they don’t see is that they are test subjects for a secret experiment: Syndrome’s

Omnidroid.

The Star Swordsman - Hey yeah, that’s interesting. Nice theory! I can’t think of

anything else to say on the subject at the moment, since you pretty much topped it, The Star

Swordsman.

I guess I can ask another question then. Do you think

Mirage really loved Syndrome?
