Monsters Inc. 2?

But she doesn’t have to be a tomboy to be adventurous. She may be like Lilo in Lilo and Stitch

I would love to see a Monsters Inc 2 the first was one of my fave films ever i
remember watching it on video about 4 time in a row with out toilet breaks.

It would bee cool if it was set possible 10-15 years in the future See what boo
is like a teenager maby ,ike and celiea have got married and sully may be
going gray…lol.

I soooooo hope this gets made.

At Comic-Con yesterday, someone actually asked Pete Docter is they were ever going to make a sequel to Monsters Inc.
That made the whole crowd cheer.
Pete’s response was that it has been thought about, but if Pixar can ever find a new story to build up around the original film, then yes they could. But it sounded like as of now, no plans of Monsters Inc. 2 are planned.

That’s the safe answer for the fans. It’s like telling a three year old “We’ll see”

^ Haha, I’m just reporting from what the man himself said about Monsters Inc. 2’s possibility.

i don’t know

monsters inc. 2 would be nice but you would need to get a really good storyline for it to work.

That would be tough…

I really find it hard to believe there’s much interest or enthusiasm among the Brain Trust at Pixar for a sequel to “Monsters, Inc.”

Like everyone has said, the completed film is a perfect little bonbon, perfectly wrapped and packaged. It would take one heck of a great story before I see this getting green-lit.

Now “Cars 2” makes sense — and dollars — simply because of its proven track record to generate tons of profits in licensing and merchandising. Besides, I think the team had a few characters and story possibilities that didn’t make it into “Cars.” And making $$$ is important to finance original films like “Ratatouille,” “Wall-e,” and “Up” — that are more difficult to market.
Ed Catmull and I talked a bit about sequels in Mill Valley long before “Cars 2” but after “Toy Story 3” was announced.

Catmull really wanted to see a sequel to “Finding Nemo,” and I totally understand that visually. We talked about how perfect and complete that movie’s story is and Catmull laughed, admitting that yes Nemo can’t simply get lost and/or kidnapped again.

That doesn’t mean some new characters and unique story can’t be set in that colorful undersea environment. I mean Pixar is moving from the backyard jungle in “A Bug’s Life” to the South American jungle in “Up” and I’m excited about the prospects.

As far as a sequel to “The Incredibles,” I’m sure that the brain trust at Pixar knows that many moviegoers would like to see it (at the moment, I don’t count myself among them), but it won’t get green-lit until there’s a great story and Brad Bird decides he wants to make it or hand that task over to Mark Andrews, Andrew Jimenez or another one of Pixar’s next wave of feature directing talents.

An so it starts the sacrificing that comes with Marriages in Merges of Companys and also in the case Of Disney/Pixar. It was bond to happen sometime, something just told me within it would be leaked out, by someone at Pixar, but I was shocked that it was this soon,I mean late Summer 2008 an not Early 2009ish like I thought at 1st.

But I should learn never to go against that divine feeling that keeps trying to tell me these things our going to be revealed an appear to reality any day, sooner than I believed an felt it to be.

It’s hard to trust in that inner spirit feeling, when you think sometimes it is just you trying to feel something is going to come to pass,on certain things in life, with people, things, events, acts ect.

sorry for ranting on there everyone,I hope I didn’t lose any of you there, after saying all that stuff about knowing things before hand, that I,an A few others im sure that share the same
divine gifts I have.

Now to get back on topic, well I myself would not mind A Monsters Inc. 2 knowing it would be inplaced in the right hands and created and made good, though I myself really would not want A Monsters Inc. 2, I would be more than content and happy to see that the ones that do want A Monsters Inc. 2 get their prayer answered and recieve their award and heart’s desire.

call me A filp-flopper, or say I want it to be both ways if you want, I dont mind , Im for and at the same time against it, go easy on me everyone, im just kidding around.

P.S. I am back to loving Monsters Inc. again, after decieding to watch it again,I have found A new fond love for it once more, for A time I gave it up over my CGI wearyness and anger, but now I have cooled off some an come back to atleast like A few Pixar,Dreamworks,Bluesky Animated Films, but I still am angry about very little Tradtional Animation on Tv and in Theaters of late.

Have A great blessed and peaceful day everyone.

Actually I’m a bit iffed that they state they “need a killer idea”. It’s actually quite easy to come up with a plot for Monsters Inc. Even more so, it is possible for the The Incredibles too, and Cars, although Cars is getting one quite fast. Options are open.
Lets take Cars, since we know it’ll have a sequel anyhow. In the first film we see a country “Doc Hollywood” version with cars, and in essence, is taken into the backroads. As stated by one of the crew working on Cars 2 (director maybe, not sure. can’t recall) that it was “going interantional”. And whether this means the story itself or a race, we don’t know. But given that cars generally race, the type of race and where it takes place can be object for a sequel.
Now, the Incredibles. Easy. SUPERHEROES PEOPLE. Not to mention it opened up to the Mole. I will say that since his appearence was basically surrounded about in a game, he might not be the subject (though may be referranced) in a sequel, but the way superheroes can go can be wide an open. Maybe we can see how Jack Jack’s powers grow, or perhaps they start losing their powers and start becoming normal (which was referranced a little with Dash), or perhaps more on Mirage.
Now M.I. is just as open. Of course, being a friend of his, I can’t help but mention Ran’s return. But there can be more. How about Boo when she’s older? In the story she is the FIRST, publicly anyway, human to interact, and STILL interact, with Monsters. How will that affect HER life? Now the Monster World in general. What about the toxic card? Why was that made if humans aren’t toxic? Why was the public lied to?
What about Wazowski and Celia? DID they marry? Hey, how about kids? Will this affect his friendship with Sullivan?
And what about Sullivan? He feel guilty about what he did to Ran? Does he question how he managed to get a CEO job in such short a time? Does he fear his continuing relationship with Boo to be revealed?

There’s allot to work with. Sure, picking one is difficult, but saying they need an idea is like saying they need an original for a sequel.

I think the point isn’t that it’s hard to come up with plot scenarios, but that this is Pixar and they want to take the greatest care imaginable to come up with the best plot they can and stay true to the characters and the first movie.

While that is true, the actors aren’t getting any younger. Though with that ride opening in 2011 or so, I’m guessing Pixar hasn’t yet given up on a sequel yet.

I think that a sequel would be a nice idea.
As long as Pixar weren’t like a lot of film companies where the sequels just look fastly made and rushed over.
But I don’t think that Pixar would be like that at all.

i hope that there is a sequel, I really liked the 1st one & I would like to see what Pixar comes up with next.

I’ve probably said this already but I really not sure where a sequel would go. And that would be an awfully long time span between the original and the sequel. Not that Pixar couldnt rise to that challenge, and yes, people can always buy it and watch it. But it’ll be more than 10 years between them.

Just a quick note…

Toy Story 2- 1999
Toy Story 3- 2010

11 years…:open_mouth:

I doubt time span is a factor with Pixar…8D

haha, they take that long though, (Sorry, forgive me as I do not know Pixar names yet) but the director who made Ratatouille wrote and drew parts of that before Toy Story. :open_mouth:

well you know it’ll be even longer than that. We only know up to 2012 so it would be more than 12 years really. 2013 right now is the earliest possible time it could be out and chances are that wont happen that soon.

Hey David, you mean Brad Bird? Don’t worry, I’m also just beginning to learn about the people behind some of my favourite movies. Before Cars, I didn’t know Mr Lasseter was director of Toy Story and A Bug’s Life. In fact , I didn’t know his name (only recognised him as the dude with the nifty Hawaiian shirts) until I watched the making-off featurettes/podcasts, which they only started producing from Cars onwards. Pretty embarassing for a self-proclaimed fan, I know.
Anyway, back on track. Y’all might wanna have a look at this post from the MTV Movies Blog. I think someone posted something about hearing Mr Docter (another guy who I’m just getting to know about) talk about the possibilty of a sequel from Comic Con. This is just a very short article about that super-vague Q&A session.
Personally, I’m all up for a sequel. If anyone can make a movie better than its predecessor, it’s gotta be Pixar. Plotwise, I think it would be really cool if Boo was all grown-up and working in a corporate world, possibly having a husband and kids and taking them for granted, then she somehow returns to Monstropolis and rediscovers the joys of childhood and all that. Something like Williams’ and Hoffman’s Hook.
Ah, scrap that. Maybe we could just see Mike get another car.
I’m really interested to see more of Randall’s story though. Maybe Waternoose can make a comeback or something with another evil plan in the works. And Celia the Medusa was quite underused, so maybe we could see more character development there.
Overall, I’m quite intrigued if a sequel ever gets underway. It’s probably the next sequel I want to see get made after the Incredibles, as the ending was left pretty open-ended, unlike others like Nemo and Ratatouille.

Toy Story 3 will not be the next TS movie released…

TS 3D comes out early 2009
TS2 3D comes out late 2009
then TS3 comes out in 2010

Actually, Toy Story in 3D will not be release until late 2009, October 2nd, 2009 to be exact. Toy Story 2 in 3D will be release in early 2010, February 12th, 2010.
Toy Story 3, the next new Toy Story release, will come out June 18th, 2010, and just like Up’s release date, it’s subject to change.
Regarding which TS is next: It really depends on the way you look at it, some people don’t count re-releases, but whatever.
