Oh yeah, I forgot about those 3D releases. Honestly I couldnt care less about them at the moment. Dont hate me, I mean, it does sound kinda cool, but I doubt any of the theaters near me will have that, not to mention it IS a re-release so it’s not like I havent seen them before. It’ll be the same movie. Only I guess things will pop out at you this time.
Found something that might get us somewhere with this convo…
Pixar Eyeing Monsters, Inc Sequel
Pretty recent article too…
So there’s still hope people!
"Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here."
Well, if they are making one, I’d rather Randall not come back at all if they bring him back to be the bad guy. I think I’ve mentioned that before on BB.
My bad folkz, here’s the original link…(don’t know why that happened)

Just tried it…should work now…
When reading the Docter quote that said ‘I can neither confirm or deny’, it completely reminded me of that line from Monsters, Inc. when that member of the CDA was like, ‘We can neither confirm or deny the presence of a human child here tonight’.
Thanks for that link, Pixfan. I’m not gonna get my hopes up, but it’s interesting to know that Pixar are thinking about a sequel.
I dont know. Everything seemed pretty much wrapped up at the end, I still say I cant see a need for one. But the people at Pixar are much more creative than I am.
Pixar seems to be growing accustomed to “pre-planning” their sequels. For instance, take Cars 2. I recall hearing that they’re airing three car shorts with Mater on…I think it was Tios…or simply on the Disney Channel.
And if they’re doing something similiar with M.I. in a ride we might very well be closer to a sequel.
Hey everyone, I’m mostly using this thread as an excuse to say “hi!” to the people at Boggs’ Board who I haven’t spoken to in forever. It’s so nice to see all you familiar faces here. I hope at least one person remembers me! ^^;;
My two cents on the subject anyway; I’d love a sequel, but I’d like a twist on the usual. I’d like to see Sulley and Mike trapped in the human world. I think it would make for some fun scenes, with the two of them trying to evade humans, and trying not to get spotted and such. I’m not sure how the situation would come about, but I think it’s especially do-able nowadays as Pixar and their technology is getting better and better at designing human characters. Of course this would also be a perfect opportunity to bring back Randall, since as far as we know he is still trapped in the human world I would hope for some sort of redemption from him, and as Fairly Odd New Yorker said, I wouldn’t want him to be in a sequel at all if he was to remain the bad guy.
I’m not keen on the idea of bringing Boo back for some reason. I especially don’t like her being aged. I think that was part of the genius in Monsters Inc original ending. The camera teasing us with Sulley’s own reaction to seeing Boo again, and the fact that we the audience can never know. I think it makes her character much more special.
And although I do want a Monsters Inc sequel more than any other Pixar film, I’m sort of conflicted because I happen to think it had one of the most perfect endings. Gaah. Damn this film for having such great characters!
Failing a sequel, I think the creators should consider a spin off tv series, perhaps with traditional animation. It could be set pre-movie and based around all the monsters in the factory’s daily lives. This would be a great thing for expanding upon characters such as Fungus, Roz, Celia, etc and developing their relationships with the bigger characters. Well, any excuse for more Randall, really!
Wow I rambled. 0_0
Even though I like other Pixar films more than Monsters, Inc. and it’s not the film I’m closest to, I still wouldn’t like to see a sequel being made. It’s just unnecessary. One of the reasons I like the film is the assumption of Sulley going back and visiting Boo until she is old enough to take care of herself, or maybe they kept their secret until right into adulthood. We don’t need to know what happens next or need it to be spelt out for us. Regardless of whatever story they choose, I don’t think it will be enough to support a sequel.
I’d rather see a sequel for The Incredibles than for movies like Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo and WALL•E.And it’s not that I dislike those movies that I’m resisting the idea, it’s because I do like them. I don’t want the original stories ruined. And the less sequels that are made, the more room there will be for original ideas. We’ve got Cars, Toy Story 3, and the inevitable (and deserved) The Incredibles sequel coming up within the next 8 years, probably, which is plenty for now, and to throw a MI sequel on top of that, it would just be overkill.
Hi rachelcakes, I can see what you’re saying. I’m rather weary about the idea of sequels generally incase they ruin the first film, as you say. However I do make the exception with Pixar. Toy Story 2 was a well worthy sequel to the original film, and given Pixar’s motto that “story is king” I think that if the creators ever do think up a Monsters Inc sequel it will be something worth watching.
I do agree that a Monsters sequel would be an overkill at the moment though. For now I am very interested in what they plan to do with Cars 2 and of course Toy Story 3

Once again, welcome back ^^ How could I forget ya ^0^ Remembering your christmas story, and mine, is what lead me to do two specials this year ^^
That’s actually an interesting idea. And there WAS a rumor, albiet 80% fake, about that being a plot to the second one.
But that would be an interesting situation. Given for Sullivan and Mike to see how ADULT humans would react. I recall Lizard Girl, I think, making a story about humans going to war with the Monsters. But anyway…
And if Sullivan and Wazowski get trapped in a similiar way, and interesting twist would be RANDALL getting them out of it (Funny, as he TRIED to do that in the first one).
Tahaha ^0^ Lets look at it this if not a sequel, maybe a prequel ^0^ About the time Sullivan and Wazowski were trained. And Ran is in it too of course since he WAS one of the crew that trained them. Back at a time when they WEREN’T rivals
Actually I have been fumbling with that idea. If I HAD an animation program, and good models for everyone, I would make it myself ^0^ Alas…I am stuck to writing and comic making…
But still, dang good idea ^^ And I have seen “disney-sorta” styles of Randall, and if they use similiar concepts for everyone else, a series doesn’t seem that far-fetched. They DID do it for Buzz Lightyear…but to my knowledge unsure if they did it for anything else, yet still…good idea ^^

I agree with LB. I trust Pixar to make and improve on their later additions. I mean…come on, they’re NOT Disney. And I think Pixar is in a safe position…they’re close to Disney so…snicker they know what NOT to do with a sequel thanks to Disney ^0^ ^0^
Hello Nexas/Sean! of course I remember you and your investigative skills from BB
Thanks so much for the welcome back, and so glad you liked my Christmas fic that much! -blush- I shall be sure to check out your specials for this year, and I might get round to writing another one shot when I can spare the time ^^;;
Haha, it would be interesting to see Randall helping Sulley and Mike out of a situation like that. Although in regards to redeeming Randall I think it could go either way with his character. He still has the potential to stay “bad” as it were, and yet there’s always the chance a writer might surprise us and put him in a good light. Chris Sanders, anyone?
The Buzz Light Year TV series was exactly what came to my mind when thinking about a prequel series. Its nice to think that there’s always a possibility Pixar might do something like that with Monsters, considering they did it with Toy Story. I just think there is so much they could do with the Monster World in an episode based show, and you could have episodes revolving round various characters, even background ones who we barely saw in the film could be expanded on.
I would like to think the same about the Pixar/Disney sequel history. Although I think Disney have different priorities with their sequels (direct to dvd, aimed at younger audience, and of course making money) whereas I like to think Pixar are making their sequels simply because they’ve got a decent idea (although money must factor into it a little, can’t be too naive haha).
Hehehehe ^^ And I aim to do the same here and defend my good ole pal ^^
Hehehe, well since you were sort of inspiration, I might give you some previews ^_- One is an exploritive piece about an individual, and one is laugh out loud riot ^0^
Well…I would think depending on the situation, Randall might be ticked off to the extreme if he ever saw them again. Would be surprised if he broke legs and arms of his “rivals”. Maybe it would start off with him being hell-bent on taking them out, then gradually, he resists it for a sort of great good Who? ^0^
True true! And it IS more of an original concept. There’s SO much to work with there. And many stories. Like how Wazowski and Celia met, when Sullivan and Wazowski joined the factory at the start, where Sullivan’s parents are now (his mom called, remember folks?). And we could finally learn more about Ran
nods I just think they got a good basis. They already have a sequel, TY2 as pointed out, that they could use as some inspiration, and they know what mistakes not to make thanks to Disney
^0^
MONSTERS INC 2:
Special Thanks
To Disney for making those horrible sequels that helped us know what NOT to do ^0^ ^0^ ^0^
Ooh, yes, previews sound good! Be interested to read, especially the laugh out loud one
Haha yes I think Randall would pretty much just have revenge on his mind for much of the time, anyway. And I don’t see him as the type who is willing to forgive and forget very easily either Even though it would be nice to have a redemptive theme for Randall, he’d need to stay in character, so his path to such a thing would be a considerably long one! XD
Chris Sanders wrote Lilo and Stitch, and I love that film for it’s characters and how the story plays out. Lilo is pretty much the “villain” for a lot of the film, but comes round eventually, and I like that Sanders created a sort of anti-hero, a character with faults who could learn to be good. So my point there was that writers like him who create these faulty characters might be what we need for handling characters like Randall in a good light ^^
yes, I think a perfect beginning to a series would be Mike and Sulley’s first day at the workplace! I like to think that was where they met too, and became Scare Partners from there. It would be great to meet their parents too, could make for some funny stuff I would love to see more of the partnership between Randall and Fungus, mainly because I find them very comical together and I do have a soft spot for poor, downtrodden Fungus
Haha exactly right. Pixar should learn from Disney’s terrible mistakes!
Uh huh Oh yeah ^0^ Of the two, that’s my favorite. And it’s even longer than my Christmas one ^0^ Randall would kill me when I post it ^0^
I hate when that sort of thing happens so fast ^0^
True true ^^ He has his own demons to work with himself ^^
OH! Forgot his name there ^^ But yeah, something similiar to that indeed ^^
Well, Randall trained them both at Scare Island, so their partnership in work would’ve started there…but in the actual sense yeah I can see what you mean ^^
Imagine a “Meet the Parents” bit when Celia meets Wazowski’s hahaha ^0^
Ahh yeah their partnership…yeah…and probably learn how Fungus came to be in on in the movie too ^^
Oh yes ^0^
Probably not. Not to speak for Pixar or anything but I don’t think they might not be making another Monsters Inc. because according to the Pixar website they had to animate like 200,000 something of the blue purple-spotted mosnter’s hairs (DANG!!!) Is that Mike? I figure it would make more sence that they would rather not put themselves through somthing like that again.
The Mike’s New Car short is as close as we’re gonna get to a Monsters Inc. 2.
I like the 4 minor Toy Story references here. At one of the doors the wallpaper Andy had in Toy Story is there. John Ratzenburger, the voice for Hamm, played the snow monster, at the end of the movie Jessie is seen in Boo’s room, and Rex makes a cameo in the outakes.
That was Sulley, emergencyexit42, and you make a good point about the effort of animating his fur. Though, on the other hand, I guess perhaps Pixar’s technology has improved since Monsters, Inc. was first made? Maybe it’s easier to animate fur now than it was then, I’m not sure.
Well the fur was simulated, not hand animated, and I’m sure it’d be easier to simulate today, example: Ratatouille.
But that has nothing to do with my opinion on a Monsters, Inc. sequel, which although possible, I don’t think it’ll happen any time soon.
Well there’s always fanfiction…
