Monty Python

:open_mouth: You are the luckiest person on the planet ever.

Wow – you all have very interesting stories to tell! Keep them coming, if you wish.

(saw your profile) Hoo-ray! Another Python

fan  From America, too. Always nice to hear of fans of them from other countries.

I’m lucky, and also

quite nervous. My fellow performers have planned to set up a little performance of that 'We’re Knights of the

Round Table’ bit in the Holy Grail film for him. :unamused: It looks so unbelievably silly.

Can’t beat Monty Python. Not even if you’re armed with a

banana.

It’s Python. That’s the whole point.

And

I feel that it is here my public duty to say that this shall mark the end of any and all off-topic Python

discussion in this thread. :unamused: That can be done elsewhere if we so choose.

Quite right.

Oh, this is one of those boards then? I’ve been to several

chat boards where they go ballistic over OT conversations. But I can understand why. Ah well. Will talk more when

I’ve actually met the amazing Jonesy.

:whip: We’re so much Nazi about

going off-topic (after all this is the off-topic forum ) but we do keep the individual threads on topic. But

it’s no big deal - as you can see it’s fairly easy to split them into their own topic of relavence. =)

POINTED STICK!!

Sorry

about that… :unamused: moment of utter insanity

Python’s awesome! My favorite Pythons are Graham Chapman, Michael Palin and my top fav, Eric Idle. I actually

wrote to Eric and Michael and got replies from them! Autographed photos

in my class

there is this kid who likes the montey python movies and he always repeats the line :

" The treasure

is hidden in the castle of ahhhh . "

me , i’ve never seen a montey python movie , and wouldn’t be

surprised if i’m spelling his name wrong .

Or a dead parrot. Or the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch. Or a herring. I could

continue…

GLP: You’ve never seen a Monty Python movie?

Ever? :open_mouth: sound of jaw hitting floor

Leave. Now.

Nah, I’m just

kidding with you. To each his or her own…

Me, I love Python. Holy Grail is one of my favorite

movies ever. I’m still endlessly jealous that DELf got to go to see Spamalot with the original cast… half of

them have left now, and so there go my chances to see Tim Curry as Arthur - one of the great things about the

original cast, if I may say so. Oh well, I’ll see it one day. Maybe it’ll come to San Francisco on tour one

summer.

TEMT: that Terry Jones thing must have been a few weeks ago, right?

How did it go?

I love Monty Python. I think I have collected all their songs.

I

love Holy Grail but Life of Brian is just a little bit better.

NISUS:
Next.

Crucifixion?
PRISONER #2:
Yes.
NISUS:
Good. Out of the door. Line on the left. One cross

each. Next. Crucifixion?
MR. CHEEKY:
Ah, no. Freedom.
JAILER:
Hmm?
NISUS:

What?
MR. CHEEKY:
Eh, freedom for me. They said I hadn’t done anything, so I could go free and live on

an island somewhere.
NISUS:
Oh. Oh, well, that’s jolly good. Well, off you go, then.
MR.

CHEEKY:
Naa, I’m only pulling your leg. It’s crucifixion, really.
NISUS:
Oh, ho ho.
MR.

CHEEKY:
Heh heh heh hehh.
NISUS:
I see. Uh, very good. Very good. Well, out of the door.

One–
MR. CHEEKY:
Yeah. I know the way. Out of the door.
NISUS:
Line on–
MR. CHEEKY:

One cross each. Line on the left.

I’ve actually heard that Curry had been performing less and less, and

claimed he was too old to be doing this anymore. Shame, really. I do love him. But performing is quite tiresome.

I can’t blame him. But I still wish I could’ve seen him ^^ I myself haven’t seen Spamalot.

He came to

our theatre last Monday- didn’t stay very long though =P He claimed he was tired though he seemed quite hyper if

you ask me … a bit off the walls. He snuck in and scared the be-jeezus out of my best mate! xD We were talking

in the lobby before the theatre opened and he came up behind my friend James and poked him on the shoulder and

asked him where the bathroom was. James jumped outta his skin and screamed, ā€œOh my God it’s you!!ā€

:open_mouth: He scared poor Terry.

Yeah, and so we did (rather, the guys did) the whole skit with the Knights

of the Round Table afterwards on stage. Terry was delighted  And I got to speak to him for a bit- just about

how much I loved his films, blah blah blah … he was very thrilled that I loved them anyways, though he’s

probably heard THAT a billion times the world over. Leave it to me to say very witty things … =P

Aaand

then he gave us a whole big speech about acting and how timing is everything and all that nonsense I never quite

paid attention to in school ^^ But the fact Terry was ā€˜lecturing’ us made me pay attention. ^^
And we took a

whole group photo pic, and got his autograph and stuff. I’d post the photo but I’m one of those nuts who are

worried for online stalkers and what not. Yes I’m paranoid. =P

Monty Python and the Holy

Grail has got to be the funniest film in the history of hilarious films.

My favorite part:

ā€œBehind the rabbit?ā€

"He

is the rabbit."

"Wha–that? What’s he gonna do: bite your

bum?"

:stuck_out_tongue:

If it makes you feel any better, KE, the evening that I saw the show both Tim

Curry and Sara Ramirez had their standbys filling in for them… :unamused: I didn’t know who anybody actually was

until several months after seeing the show, though, so I myself didn’t really care.

I absolutely love

Python’s music. ā€œAlways Look On The Bright Side Of Lifeā€ is literally my theme song in regards to my

life philosopy. I think I’d memorized that one before I actually even saw Life of Brian, too… Although

even so, my absolute favorite Python song is probably either ā€œThe Galaxy Songā€ or "The

Philosophers’ Drinking Song."

(After mentioning ā€œBright Side of Lifeā€ and

ā€œPhilosophers’ Drinking Song,ā€ I feel it’s probably about time somebody let it be known, for the sake

of those who have not yet seen any Python material, that they most assuredly do have some language and some adult

themes, so those of you who are on the younger side, be wary.)

I only saw Holy Grail. I thought it was okay. Not my type of movie. I just didn’t get

it. But I did laugh at some of the parts in that movie.

Which is why it took

me forever to convince my dad that I could handle the material. He finally gave in, and it turned out that

Holy Grail was no where near as crude as I thought it would be.

The Star Swordsman - Heh – my mom is the same way. She hates those types of

films – can’t stand the humor. (snigger)

DELf : well , it looks like I won’t be seeing a monty python movie any time soon , I was surprised my stepdad

didn’t take my sister and me out of the theater when we saw Talladega Nights .

So it looks like no monty

python movies for me until i’m 20 .

lol

Life of Brian and Meaning of

Life, on the other hand… :unamused: Mm-hm. And a few Flying Circus episodes, too, for that

matter.

DElf - Yeah, mom said that Life of Brian

wasā€¦ā€œhigly offensiveā€. I guess I’ll have to wait a few years… Heh.

I saw the end of one

Flying Circus episode – I was laughing my head off. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think my favorite part of Holy Grail was the ā€œSir Robin Songā€. So hilarious. It is sometimes how I

feel about some people. :imp:
