You’re right eje, Spirit seems to have the rules down pat! Good for you, I can’t say the same.
I just try not to do anything that could be considered violating the rules.
The Titanic: Based off an actual event and the ship wrecked looked so real but really it is just a mushy love story.
Avatar: Another James Cameron film. Great visual but the story is just like 3 other movies (Dances with Wolves, Pocohantas, Fern Gully the last rain forest).
Jerry McGuire was a good movie but it was hyped up to be so funny but it felt more serious
Pinneapple express was good but it is such a pothead movie that probabaly only actual potheads can really love it.
I’ve already talked about Avatar a lot, but now that you mention it, I found Jerry McQGuire very overrated.
The new X-Men film feels very overrated. Everyones banging on about it and I found it to be sub-par. ![]()
Yeah I mean don’t get me wrong it is a good enough movie but it got so much hype and priase and all the academy award noms and wins? (Cuba won for best supporting actor though he did well, Tom was up for best actor, Rene for best actress, it was up for its editing and even best picture)
Another film overrated is Ice Age 3. I remeber eveyone in HS saying it was the best animated film. Then when I saw it I was like it is an improvement for the 2nd but it was just alright not even as good as the 1st.
But Ice Age 3 isn’t overrated. It had a poor reception.
I’m aware of that (got a little worse reviews then Ice age 2). But I am saying by fans it is. For a good few months everyone was saying it was the best animated film they have ever seen.
Haha, I don’t think it was overrated, and I’m not a pothead.
I enjoyed the movie and I think James Franco did a really good job (his character Saul was rather stupid but funny stupid) But the movie was kinda stupid as a whole really. Shot well though.
There have been better stoner films made that is for sure.
I think Avatar is pretty overrated. Sure the graphics style was new but the story is the same story we’ve seen in a ton of other movies. Cameron’s Titanic was also overrated. I found the movie to be a bore-fest all the way through.
Yes, I’m thinking Cameron invented the word “overrated”. Which would be fine if he weren’t as smug all the time.

THIS. Sums it up perfectly in my mind, great statement there SOA. ![]()
I am of the same belief with MissCarrera and Spirit on Mr. Cameron. Talk about overrated.
I also think Danny Boyle is overrated, at least amongst the British anyways. I remember reading someone say that Danny Boyle could make a film about clingfilm and the British press would manage to make it out as the best film ever. ![]()
But I agree on the James Cameron comment. ![]()
I think Trainspotting is overrated, but I love other Boyle films like Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.

I’ve never seen Trainspotting, but I do like Slumdog and 127.
Oh it’s not that Danny Boyle’s films are bad! It’s just that he’s very overhyped imo. I too liked Trainspotting and Slumdog.
Also, Christopher Nolan is a little overrated imo. Was really excited for Inception and I guess that expectation kindof ruined it for me coz I didn’t think it was that brilliant
. However, I freaking loved The Prestige.
Well, my thesis is on Christopher Nolan, so, needless to day, I don’t find him overrated.
Someone’s already mentioned Avatar (well, considering there are 34 pages on this thread, I’m sure more than one someone has mentioned it) but it was seriously the most overblown movie I can remember, period. I would agree about The Dark Knight, but I thought it was pretty good. Even if it was so utterly creepy I won’t ever watch it again (Heath Ledger’s suicide? ::chills::!)
Titanic was such a big deal when it came out…but I only saw it once when I was in jr. high. I wouldn’t ever sit through it again, though.
Heath Ledger didn’t commit suicide. That’s not true.
