I think the Shrek the Third title might have been a reference to Blackadder.
Blackadder - Shrek
Blackadder II - Shrek 2
Blackadder the Third - Shrek the Third
But the fourth one breaks the pattern.
I agree with what you’re saying though- I prefer it when sequels don’t just tack a number onto the end of the title, or make a bad pun out of it. (With Blackadder it was okay because each series had a different Blackadder, and the titles highlight this). I prefer it if they have a subtitle or something.
Admittedly this doesn’t always annoy me, (e.g, I don’t mind the Toy Story films being 2 and 3) so I guess I mostly find it annoying if it’s movie I don’t like, like Madagascar.
You might be onto something, as there was Blackadder Goes Forth and the film was supposed to be called Shrek Goes Fourth for years, before settling with Forever After.
I suppose DW’s does that with their sequel titles so it would catch people’s interested. It would be like calling Madagascar 3 something like “Madagascar: 3rd Times the Charm” or something. Also, I would perfer Shrek: Forever After as the title instead of Shrek Goes Fourth.
I know this isn’t a film, but Glee seems pretty popular nowadays. Doesn’t anyone think that’s overrated? I personally can’t judge since I’ve never seen it.
I’ve seen some of Glee. I think the coach woman is funny in it, but I find a lot of the “serious” scenes quite cheesy. I guess the series has its charms, but I guess it could be called overrated seeing as it isn’t brilliant by any means. But I can kind of see why its fans like it so much- it’s cheery and there aren’t many shows like it on at the moment (I mean ones that are semi-musicals and aimed at a teenage demographic). But it’s probably not good enough to merit the love and attention it recieves.
Like Shrek, DW’s is starting to milk this series to death. I mean, three films and a television spinoff. Hopefully they just end the series with Madagascar 3 instead of pursuing a fourth film.
I found that Glee isn’t for everyone. For the most part, you either like it, or you don’t. Appearently, a lot of people find it popular enough for it to be a movie.
Ballboi: Well, it sounds like an interesting but odd plot. I’ll probably end up watching it either way. TSS: Never been a fan of it myself. I like how you describe it as being one of those ‘do or don’t’ things, couldn’t agree more.
Speaking of Glee, at the end of one of the commercials for the movie, this guy is like, “Save your money. This movie sucks!” I guess they didn’t have much confidence in their movie, huh?
