If there is a thread on movie posters, lock this up and give me a link to it!
I went to see This Is It yesterday. Great movie, but anyways… Here are some of the movie posters I saw and my thoughts on them Avatar:I love this poster, its so cool how it shows half of her face. The Princess and The Frog Can’t wait till this movie! I love the poster! 2012:I love this poster how it shows the white house about to be blown away and crushed. Toy Story 3 I love this poster with its line! Paranormal Activity Ugh,this poster gives me the creeps.
I did see much more but I have school in a bit so I can’t list them all.
Hey, this sounds like a pretty good idea! ([b:1gm8mhx7]annarborjack[/b:1gm8mhx7], I don’t know if there already is a thread for this, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see…)
Well, I guess I’ll tell you guys what I saw at the theaters, when I went to saw "Where The Wild Things Are" on Halloween…
The Fourth Kind - My dad really was interested in this (due to the fact that it mentioned "alien abduction" on the poster ), but my opinion is that it’s just a rip-off of "Paranormal Activity"…but, it does look freaky
2012 (it was the epic standee for it) - The visuals look incredible … but it’s from the same guys that brought "Godzilla (1998 remake)" and "Independence Day" … I’ll wait til I hear a review…
The Princess & The Frog - I’m glad that Disney is going back to traditionally-animated films, I do miss those…
How To Train Your Dragon - Saw the trailer … not even amused … they made the dragons look cartoonish … do I need to say more?
Toy Story 3 - The one with the ‘3’ on it! I heard from some member that they saw a poster for TS3 with the 3 on it, except some of the toys are standing beside it (I think it’s maybe just a mix of all of the character posters, I don’t really know…)
By the way, was it really all of the toys standing around the ‘3’ logo or was it the character posters mixed together? Also, are you sure you saw both that and the Tron Legacy poster because I can’t find them anywhere online!
Anyways, I’ve just recently seen Disney’s A Christmas Carol, which was personally a really good adaptation of the story, and I’ve seen some new posters, including one of which that I need help finding out what movie it is…
Alice In Wonderland - Also, saw a trailer for this before the movie, and I’ve to say it’s pretty impresive.
Toy Story 3 (Buzz & Rex character posters) - I’m impatiently waiting for this film to be released!
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (standee) - It’s a very weird, but interesting movie… (it’s also, sadly, Heath Ledger’s last movie role… )
Beastly - Do I even like it? looks at poster and sees Vanessa Hudgens named on it Nope. OK, moving on…
There was this one poster that I couldn’t find out the name of the movie of but here’s a brief description of what it looked like:
*It said in BIG letters on the top “LIVE LARGE”
*It showed a side picture of a dog riding in a red car going down what appears to be an L.A. street? (I think I saw a palm tree in there somewhere)
*On the side door of the car, there was a sticker that said, “The Duke Arrives” and then some release date that was hard to make out from far away…
This poster reminded me somewhat of the DVD cover of Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts, but this is a completley different movie. Could somebody help me figure out what the name of the movie is called for this poster?
What is it, annarborjack! Do you know what this movie is called? Please let me know! The suspense is killing me, what is it?! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You
NO!!! world explodes Jesus! Is Hollywood running out of ideas these days! I hope that one day 20th Century Fox can release something that has nothing to do with classic cartoon characters (in Marmaduke’s case, not so classic!).
Anyways, I FINALLY saw Avatar two days ago, and I went to another theater to see it, so here’s what I saw…
Toy Story 3 - The ‘3’ logo one, again, but the strange thing was that there were two of them. One of them was one of those standee-type ones and then one of the hallways had the actual poster, it’s kinda weird, but I actually like this, 'cause now many kids can know about this, and maybe go see it.
Karate Kid (remake) - The poster was alright, but it looked pretty lame for a teaser. All it had was the silhouette of the kid against a red background…that was about it. The trailer didn’t look too bad, but, then again, only time will tell…
Some film with Leonardo DiCaprio standing in a deserted city, kinda looked like the poster for I Am Legend. Shutter Island? I couldn’t see the title 'cause there was a line-up for probably Alvin & the Chipmunks ( ).
Twilight: Eclipse - Does anybody realize that the film is being released a week AFTER Toy Story 3 is being released! I wonder which one will do well at the B.O…
That was mostly it, I really can’t recall what else I saw, except for those character standees for Alvin & the Chipmunks!!!
Oooo! I’m late to the party, but I like this topic.
I have a slightly different take on this – I’m much, much more fond of posters for movies that are more location/theme based instead of character based. Specifically I’m not a fan of your usual “characters standing around looking at the viewer” poster. Like, for Fellowship of the Ring, I don’t like the “floating heads of the ensemble cast” poster, while this shot (link) of the fellowship passing between the statues on the Anduin is one of the few posters I like.
Pixar posters are usually the same thing. For Finding Nemo, I’m none to fond of this (link) of Dory and Marlin scared of Bruce, this (link) poster of the entire cast is better, certainly better than most ensemble cast posters. It’s actually rather appealing to me. But my favorite is this one (link) with Marlin in the middle of the swirl of fish; it seems to pull together so many themes of the movie at once – the vastness of the ocean, the loneliness of Marlin, the sheer number of fish in the ocean (with so many, it’s hard to even locate friends).
I know this is a little weird. Am I alone in this?
Kyr, you are certainly not alone, I agree 100%. That lord of the rings poster was my favourite for the film. The only thing I differ with you on is the whole cast poster for finding nemo. I have always disliked this poster more then others, I think its just too cluttered.
