Movies - both new and old

Absolutely and rightfully so.
But I call it underrated because nobody where I come from, from what I’ve seen, mentions it as one of the better movies of the 1970s. And where I come from, I asked many of my friends if they’ve seen it and they haven’t even heard of it.
I like the John Milner character the most. Trying so hard to keep his image of “cool”, but ultimately hangs around with Terry and goes and saves him from getting beaten up.

I love the film The Sound of Music. It is one of the more classic musical movies out there. I don’t know a single person in my life that doesn’t like it.

Alright, I see! And Milner was my favorite character in the movie!

The Last Station: A: I love this movie. Love. Wonderful performances by Helen Mirren, Christopher Plummer, and even Paul Giamatti. I had not heard of this movie until I stumbled upon it on Starz and put it on my DVR. It’s great, and according to my dad, it was very true to Tolstoy’s life. I’m very pleased.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: B+: I enjoyed this movie as well. I actually liked it better than the first movie. That’s a big deal for me! I would definitely recommend it, unless you don’t love extremely religious stuff.

I was watching James and the Giant Peach today. It was one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid, back when I used to love bugs and claymation.

I watched one of my favorite movies, The Hangover, with my best friend. This movie gets better and better every time I see it.

Home on the Range (I got the idea from BDD, and it was wasting my DVR space): C: Wow, this is not nearly as bad as everyone says. I didn’t love it, mostly because of Roseanne Barr, but it really was not bad. And Slim’s yodeling was great!

Tron: Legacy: B: I really enjoyed this one. I liked it better than the original!

LOL, I’m not a fan of Roseanne, either! I agree with you, that film had some of it’s moments, one being Slim’s yodeling, and well Alan Menken’s score. Lucky Jack was pretty cool, too.

The Secret of Kells: I FINALLY got to see this! I was blown away just by how beautiful it was, the design and all. It has a lovely style, and the music is great as well!

Totally agree. I need to see The Secret of Kells

After watching it again (with it being a very re-watchable movie), my favourite part of my favourite scene in the whole movie (which involves Milner, too) is when Terry (love that character) is getting beaten up by the thugs, and as Milner is saving him, he’s brawling with one of them and you can’t hear any dialogue or background music, then… “Go John!”. 8D
For some reason, that makes me laugh; may have to raise it to a 9.5/10 after second viewing. :bulb:

IV: I know, right? Home on the Range is not that beautiful or amazing, but it’s still good. My favorite part is the yodeling, too…the first time I watched it, it was so unexpected.

The Secret of Kells is AMAZING! My favorite part is Aisling’s little magic song…enchanting.

When I first caught a glimpse of it, I thought it was very cartoony-looking. After it got nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature of 2009, I got interested, gave it a chance, and was astounded. The art is VERY 2-D, but unique that way, since it’s inspired by the art in the real Book of Kells. I love the mystical feel of it…it was darker than I expected, too. But the light prevailed eventually.

It’s not the best, though, in my opinion, because I felt that Aisling REALLY needed more screen time. We didn’t get to know her that well. The story could’ve used more.

I watched Dumbo recently (Dumbo’s so cute!), and I didn’t expect to cry as much as I used to…it’s just so sad, seeing Dumbo, just a baby, being treated that way. At the “Baby Mine” sequence, I just couldn’t take it anymore and started crying…I can’t believe some people find it stupid (but the very random “Pink Elephants on Parade” sequence was a nice comic relief).
I can’t believe as a kid I never noticed they had African American slaves setting up the tent! I always assumed it was just dark out. Now that I know, that explains why I felt uneasy and inexplicably sad seeing that part…
Well, despite that it makes me cry, and there’s some racism in there, I love this story. Very sweet.

Exactly. It’s not the best, but I could name dozens worse. And we just borrowed Dumbo from the library!

Cool! High-five

I actually loved it more than the original, too! I think people are being too hard on it for being a sequel/re-imagining… :unamused: Especially awesome to see it on a huge screen.

I found out it’s on Netflix Instant Watch, so I’m going to try to see it soon, too.

Awesome! I don’t have Netflix. I’m glad you liked Tron: Legacy, too!

Virginia: I hope you see Secret of Kells sometime in the near future!

Leirin: Yes, I saw SOK on Netflix!

BDD: I have Aisling’s song on my iPod!

Pixarinho* : Yes, that’s a great scene. It’s just a fantastic movie in general!

Rio: I give it an A. It was a beautiful film, and it’ll be hard for other films to beat this as my favorite of 2011!

I hope so, too.

Watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader again today.

I was watching Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events with Jim Carrey and Emily Browning. I remembered watching it a while back. I loved it. I still do.

I was just thinking about that movie not too long ago, strange as I’ve never seen it. Reading the books right now, so maybe I should check it out.

I remember seeing that in the theatres, I’ll have to give it a rewatch.

I saw it in theaters, too. The DVD is in my room. Not the best movie, but I like it.

The King’s Speech: A: Wow. I don’t know what to say. I loved it, and I really feel like Geoffrey Rush’s side performance warranted an Oscar. Very happy Colin Firth did win. Love it!
