Yeah, it wasn’t the best movie I saw ever, but it was very enjoyable.
Rio: B: This film was cool. However, I wish there were more songs and that it was longer. I wanted a different ending, but I’m probably alone on that. My favorite part was the first 10 minutes.
The Importance of Being Earnest (2002): C: This movie was okay, but very dry, and the humor made no sense to me. Colin Firth and Rupert Everett were all I really cared about.
Really? I thought it was the perfect amount, it’s a pretty long soundtrack compared to most movies these days.
No, I mean lyrical songs, not backtracks, though those are great, too. I think there were only three songs (could be very wrong). I really liked them, though.
By lyrical, do you mean songs that are sung or songs that are strictly sung by a character?
[spoil]*“Real in Rio”
*“Mas Que Nada”
*“Let Me Take you to Rio”
*“Pretty Bird”
*“Sapo Cai”
*“Fly Love”
*“Hot Wings”
*“Funky Monkey”
*“Real in Rio Represie”[/spoil]
That is a lot. But I meant the character ones.
There were four songs sung by main characters ([spoil]“Fly Love”, “Pretty Bird”, “Hot Wings”, “Real in Rio Reprise”[/spoil]) and another sung solely by background characters ([spoil]“Real in Rio”[/spoil]). That’s pretty good. I mean, look at Tangled, which was advertised as a Disney musical. That only had four songs, plus two reprises.
It’s all a matter of perspective as to how much is enough.
Okay, okay. I just think an animated musical with, say, six or seven songs would be fantastic.
Okay, so I was working at a school today, and the movie that the kids were watching was The Incredibles. And at first, I was really excited to watch with them, but a few minutes into the movie, I’ve got a few kids coming up to me and asking… “Is this a Pixar film?”
At that moment, I almost fell out of my seat. Yes, I’m a biased fan, but how can one not hear of The Incredibles? Only one of the best superhero movies of all time!
Oh, but they’re little kids. You’ve got to love them.
TSS: Laugh out loud. Kids. They’re so dumb…
I’m really excited for Fast Five, which I have raved about in a separate thread. Hopefully it can live up to my expectations when I see it sometime soon (it’s out in Oz already!).
Fast Five comes out next week in the States, TDIT. From the number of commercials I’ve seen, it looks to be a pretty big movie. Fans of the franchise are uber-excited for it.
Reign of Fire: C: Well, this was very…odd. I didn’t really like it, but it was okay. How to Train Your Dragon is a million times better.
Limitless: C-
An interesting premise, but the script has so many stupid plot holes, the ending felt completely unsatisfying to me, and the “surreal” scenes in the movie felt really awkward and forced, like they were supposed to be from a TV commercial or music video but randomly thrown into the movie. Plus some of the scenes were so ridiculous that they were funny. Like I said, though, it had the potential to be interesting but everything beyond that felt very awkward and forced.
Comme moi!
Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin: B: I really liked this movie, but none of the funny parts were funny (to me), and some parts were very silly. Loved it anyway, though.
I used to watch that on a regular basis ages ago! Even if it’s not perfect or anything, I want to see it again sometime. I used to own another Winnie the Pooh movie (I forgot which…) and saw it so many times, the tape was jammed in the VCR and we had to get a new one! Never did replace that tape, though…
I had every Pooh video available, even the TV episodes. I was hooked, and I’m being re-hooked.
Dinosaur: D: Wow… this was way better when I was a kid. I do not like this movie.
Saludos Amigos: This movie is Disney’s shortest (at 42 minutes), and was requested to be made by the US Governement during World War II. It’s a decent movie, and provides a lot of information on our friends in South America (peticularly Brazil, Argentina, Chile, & Peru). The only GREAT part to me was the last segment “Aquarelo do Brasil” staring Donald Duck and Jose Carioca.
I give it a 3/5.
The Three Caballeros: This movie is…interesting. The first three shorts are alright, but the movie really picks up once Jose Carioca and Panchito show up. The movie is kind of creepy, it virutally revolves around Jose, Donald, and Panchito chasing girls. For 45 minutes. The music is great, and it’s visually appealing to watch (if you ask me, the last 15 minutes is [spoil]one big acid trip[/spoil]. It’s one of my favorite Disney movies, as you can tell by the sig!
I give it 4/5.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop: This movie is so stupid, yet so funny. You know what I mean, it’s one of those awful movies that is fun to watch! Lots of laughs.
I give it 3/5.
It was movie day where I worked today, and the movies that I watched with the kids were FernGully: The Last Rainforest, Everyone’s Hero, and How to Eat Fried Worms.
The kids liked it, I was just happy to watch the kids laugh… the movies… not so much, especially the last one.
Gosh, I remember How to Eat Fried Worms. The trailers were revolting.
