Yes, she was exactly that. She was a receptionist and a trekkie. which is fun, cause she later starred in Star Trek.
And don’t worry about the semantics, I was just pointing it out

How could I forget Star Trek? I actually was wondering who was that pretty woman playing Nyota Uhura, only to finally learn her name the following year when she appeared in another sci-fi blockbuster.
I think she was also in Vantage Point, although I forgot which character she played. Vantage Point, as I’ve said before, has a theme song which was pinched for the Cars 2 trailer.
Yeah, I’m not gonna let that one go so easily, Pixar and Mikey G. The world needs to know!
Oh, right.
I was already familiar with her when I saw Star Trek cause I’m a big Pirates follower and a Spielberg follower, so Saldana was already a household name in here. But it must have been interesting to discover her for the first time in her motion capture form in Avatar.
The green Hornet: B: This movie was very funny, and I really loved it!
The Other Guys: D: This movie was funny, but very vulgar, and I didn’t like it.
Thumbelina(Don Bluth): B: I’m a little indecisive about this movie. I loved the songs, and cried during a couple of them, and the plot was interesting enough. I’m rewatching it tomorrow.
Marie Antoinette: I love period movies. What I like most about this movie is not only the history it shows, but just all the outfits! They really went the distence to make sure all the outfits and rooms look like they were.
A-Team(2010 movie, duh): B: I wasn’t a huge fan of this, but it was funny. I’ll watch it again and be more decisive.
I watched an ‘illegal’ movie marathon of The Hangover Part II and Pirates 4 with two of my friends (we paid for one ticket to a local Australian movie, and cinema-hopped instead). We both enjoyed Hangover more than Pirates (kinda funny cos’ the three of us were sort of like a ‘Wolfpack’ in our uni days), but it was an enjoyable outing overall.
Will write detailed reviews if I have the time. Holla, city of squalla!
Glad you like both of those movies TDIT! I saw the both of them as well, and I also enjoyed The Hangover Part II more as well.
‘You see that? That’s my orange juice with a napkin over it. Because I don’t want anyone to RUFFEE ME!’
I’m interested in X-Men First Class. It has a very competent director and the reviews have been very good.
EJE: Laugh out loud, I loved that quote. I want to see the first movie now. I watched ‘Water for Elephants’ (which is a pretty good period melodrama, I enjoyed it) and after the movie ended, I ducked into a couple of halls looking for which one was showing ‘Fast Five’. I saw it being scheduled on the timetable and I know it was after WfE, but I didn’t know which hall it was! I saw Hangover Part II in two theatres (the first time up till the point where they wake up, and the second for like the first minute or so), and the audience turnout and reaction was good.
Spirit: Every single session I’ve sat in for the last fortnight (legal and illegal) always have ‘X-Men: First Class’ tacked on as a trailer. Frequent moviegoers (or those who work in cinemas) know that trailers are customised according to the clientele they’re expecting for the main feature. So like when I watched Pirates, they showed Kung Fu Panda 2 and Cars 2 because they were expecting kids and Disney fans to be among the crowd. Or when I watched Hangover, they showed the trailer for ‘Horrible Bosses’, or for Water for Elephants, ‘Jane Eyre’.
For every movie hall to be showing the X-Men trailer shows that a) my local cinema chain must have had some sort of deal with the distributor to plug the movie every chance they get and b) they are hoping that this will be a summer blockbuster tentpole everyone wants to see.
They’re also showing TV spots every night during primetime, and running competitions with the various cinema chains in Sydney. My friends, on the other hand, are semi-interested. Not a ‘must-see’, but I think they can be swayed.
Very intrigued to see how it performs in Oz, judging by the amount of hype they’re flogging. The story looks interesting too, Mystique is my favourite X-Men villain and I would love to see her origin according to this movie version. And of course, the whole ‘You were my friend!’ betrayal plot arc between BFFs Charles and Erik.
Haha, yes! That movie is sooo quoteable, just like the first one! And you should give the first a rewatch, I like that one better than the sequel! I’m glad to hear the audience enjoyed it, it is a fun movie to watch. It’s not the best movie ever, but it is fun!
Well, then you should know Mystique is being played by the talented Jennifer Lawrence, so you can expect big things on the character.
EJE: Yeah, it was a pretty vulgar and crude movie at times, but it isn’t mean-spirited because [spoil]everything turned out okay in the end[/spoil]. I wish we could’ve stayed back to watch the photo collage credits (my friend told me it was done in the first film as well), but we had to rush to the next hall to catch the beginning of Pirates 4!
Oh, and I didn’t find the hall showing ‘Fast Five’ yesterday. Kinda disappointed. I wasn’t intending to stay for the whole movie (it was quite late, around 10 pm), but I wanted to at least see the opening prison bus-breakout sequence up until the train heist again.
Spirit: Not familiar with Jennifer Lawrence, but I’ll take your word for it. I’ve seen her featurette, and I like how her ‘true character’ is her mutant self, and how she has to keep hiding it to look ‘normal’.
Daaaang! You need to see the end credits! (which was also done in the first film, as you’ve mentioned). It was by far the most offensive part of the movie! But you had a legit reason to leave!
No? Winter’s Bone? Oscar nomination last year?
I already share my thoughts of Pirates 4 on the Pirates 4 thread if somebody wants to take a look,
Today I am gonna watch FAST FIVE and tomorrow a premiere of Kung Fu Panda 2 and maybe on Thursday or Saturday I will catch Pirates 4 on cinemas for the third time ,
NO, I’ll be watching X-MEN First Class this weekend, I completely forgot it, that is the pick of this weekend, it has turned into a must see film, great reviews so far
Pearl Harbor: C: Well, it was better than I expected. Amazing aerial sequences, and I enjoyed Kate Beckinsale and Ben Affleck’s performance. However, it was a romance. That’s bad. I did like it, though, better than I expected!
I finished watching Kich-Ass, and I am so happy I didn’t spend money on it by seeing it in the theater like I originally planned on doing. One thing I kept wondering while watching this movie was why was it so violent. I have no problems with violent films. I LOVE Carlito’s Way and Goodfellas. I think those are two of the most violent films I’ve ever seen. But the amount of violence didn’t seem right for this kind of movie. Nicolas Cage’s acting had me chuckling sometimes because it wasn’t good. Especially the scene when he was talking to his old partner, and was talking about how he won’t rest until Frank was dead. And I wish the movie focused more on the father, the daughter and his old partner’s situation. When they showed their history through the comic book, that’s the part I paid the most attention to. But I felt like this movie was trying to do to much. I actually would have prefered the movie with no Kick-Ass. Just about the bad guy, the father, daughter and his old partner. I wish they would have taken their story and made a movie out of it.
Oh, well. I plainly loved that film.
But I agree in the point of focus. The comic book part was interesting.
