Movies - both new and old

Haha, I’ll pray for you.

I was like 11 or 12 when it came out and saw it with a friend. I was spending the night at his house.

Actually, I enjoyed it. Movie is very predictable, but still enjoyable. I’m a fan.

The Big Lebowski: Well, you know, it’s a freaking awesome movie man. A+

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: This movie really creeped me out. But I was intrigued the whole time. I loved the singing. I give it a C+

Watched some clips on Youtube. It’s is odd.

Heehee, understatement of the year.

Ah, Youtube - the repository of useless information and essential trivia!

I can’t wait to see One Day - I think it’s already opened in the States, but it’s coming this Thursday in Oz! It stars two of my favourite actors in a sweeping love story about one of my favourite romantic themes - can a man and woman ever be just friends? Well, at least in Hollywood movies, the question is rather rhetorical, but the fun’s in the journey, right? Coincidentally, Jim and Anne have voiced bird characters from two of my favourite movies from this year and last! What a beautiful coincidence! And now they’re semi-platonic best friends in the same live-action film! <3 I smell a fanart piece coming…

Doesn’t the poster just give you goosebumps? raises hand Reminds me of ‘The Kiss’ by Robert Doisneau…

Anyway, here’s the saccharine-sweet trailer. I have half a mind to read the book. Oh, and for the record, I still haven’t watched ‘When Harry Met Sally’. :stuck_out_tongue:

Somebody recently told me that One Day isn’t the kind of movie the trailers make it out to be.

I only seen two movies recently.

The Cat in The Hat: I used to watch this movie alot when I was around 8-9 when it first came out. It’s just a below average film with nothing special. To me, this film felt nothing like the book from Dr. Seuss. I know films usually make things differently from the books but this felt like nothing from the original story. Alec Baldwin is probably the most interesting thing about this film. There were some funny adult jokes that I found in the film. If you seen it, you probably know what I’m talking about. There were some annoying parts especially with some of the side characters. Overall, just a below average film with nothing special. C-

Tangled: Already did a review on this in the Tangled thread but I thought this movie was really good. A-

Brigham Young: This 1940 black and white movie tells the tale of famous Mormon Brigham Young, who led the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from Illonios to Utah, where Salt Lake City was founded. I liked how it there was a couple of stories going on at once, to show different perspectives.

However, this movie did not go into the more controversial parts of his life. Including Pologamy, racism to Black Mormons, and the Utah Wars.

I give it a C+.

I’ve tried to watch that movie. But, my dad says I have to wait. :frowning:

I’m not really interested in it, but my mom has a HUGE agenda against it, so if there ever does come a day where I can see it, it’ll be when I’m in my 20’s. 8D

I’ve heard there’s some pretty subversive/sexually-deviant themes in Rocky Horror, even by adult standards. So I’m not surprised that some of the younger folks here might have their parents worried. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about it, but I’ll eventually give it a shot when I’m bored, I guess.

The lovely Zoe Saldana from Avatar and Star Trek stars in the dramatic thriller Colombiana, where she plays an orphan assassin bent on avenging her parents’ deaths at the hands of a mob boss.

Trailer promises a few nice car crashes, but I’m not holding out for a full-out pursuit.

Colombiana is out in the US now, but no release date for Oz. Car chase or not, I’m planning to see it because I’m enamoured by Zoe. Oh, and I love the thematic quote: “Never forget where you came from.” :frowning:

EDIT: Just for laffs, here’s the Never Forget Where You Came From Dumbified trailer edition.

I recently saw the Cronenberg adaptation of The Fly.

I loved it. The acting is incredible, and just makes the second half of the film all the more terrifying, although nearly every scene has been parodied at one point, it still felt absolutely fresh. There were plenty of effective jump scares, but the true horror comes from the ideas hinted at by the film.

The final third is absolutely disgusting. My jaw was open the entire time. However, just because it’s vomitrocious doesn’t mean it’s not interesting.

This truly is my favorite remake of all time (more so than The Thing). It might be puke-inducing at points, but if you’re in the mood for a romance horror tale, with lots of sci-fi, and a hint of tear-jerker thrown in, then you can’t go wrong with this. It’s a masterpiece. A+

Yeah, its major thems are adultry, homosexuality, and incest. I’m glad I saw the movie, but It’s not something I’d jump with joy to see again. It just wasn’t my thing.

I didn’t see the wholw movie but from what I can tell,it ceneters in a transgender person.

I know almost as a matter of fact that I wouldn’t like the movie. But, that isn’t why I watch movies. It’s something I need to see.

What’s everyone’s favorite Christmas movie? Mine is A Christmas story, I know that’s predictible put it’s great.
