Movies - both new and old

I am going to see War with Jet Li and Jason Stratham this weekend, beening looking forward to this movie.

Anyone see Superbad? Not sure what to make of that.

I finally saw A Series of Unfortunate Events. Not the best movie since they crammed it all in, but it was worthwhile for me.

My sister and I recently watched The Brave Little Toaster after I found a copy of it hiding in our very cluttered and oppusum-scented garage. I’d almost forgotten exactly how creepy that film is, even though I loved watching it that particular time just as much as I used to when I was a lil’ youngin’. Even after all these years, I still came close to tears during that “flower” part. (Oh, and my sister and I cracked up when the A113 joke appeared; I almost forgot that that was in there – heheh).

So yeah. Great movie. Slightly freaky, but a crowd-pleaser nonetheless.

FONY - Incidentally, I watch Lemony Snicket this week, too. I thought it was good, but Jim Carrey got a bit annoying by the end. The little girl was so cute as well.

rachelcakes: Yeah Jim Carrey got rather annoying, but he always does. He was good in the film for the most part.
And I loved the little baby! xD She’s a natural! She practically owns the movie, lol!

At the moment I’m watching a bit of, mostly listening to, The Animal. :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw this movie called Yo-Yo Girl, a movie about a teenaged girl, who plays as a undercover agent, armed with a Yo-Yo as a weapon/tool.

I am really excited about this movie directed by James Cameron (Titanic , Terminator 2: Judgement Day) :

Wow, I haven’t been to Pixar Planet in a really long time and I’m surprised that my little thread created on a whim is still going! :open_mouth:

Anyways, in the last few weeks I’ve seen 2 movies and 1 documentary that I found worthy of posting about:

  • When Harry Met Sally. I know it’s classically OLD but this I only saw it for the first time a few weeks ago. It’s absolutely amazing. Not your normal chick flick. It’s intelligent and underlines the differences and ultimately the similarities between men and women.

-In Her Shoes. Yeah it’s a Cameron Diez movie but I found it pretty touching. Nothing award-worthy but I liked it.

-Jesus Camp. Wow. Amazingly made. For the open minded, however you view this documentary.

I really need to catch up on all the goings on at Pixar Planet!! Oh dear…

watched a bit of Bowling for Columbine. Brings up a lot of issues, but no actual way to solve them. Quite pointlessly sad if you ask me.

Weeeell, I just saw one of the all-time classic movies for the first time, Forrest Gump, and have absolutely fallen in love with it. The plot is so untraditional, yet so engrossing, and the film covers the spectrum from absurdly hilarious to deeply thought-provoking better than I could have imagined possible. That’s… pretty much it, in a nutshell, expanding my thoughts has never been one of my strong points, but for those of you who haven’t seen this masterpiece yet, I strongly recommend renting a copy of Forrest Gump next time you’re at a loss for what to do. Tom Hanks was one of my favorite actors before, but now I feel I can safely say that he is my single favorite actor.

I have yet to see FOrrest Gump, but I head that Tom Hanks is absolutely brilliant in this movie.

You should really watch it, TSS!
It’s a great movie… I can quote this movie from beginning to end.

Gonna see Balls of Fury this weekend, that movie looks hilarious.

Anyone see Superbad?

I might go watch it. My brother loves tennis, even though this game is about table tennis, but still, I think I’ll go watch it.

I’ve been interested in watching Finding Neverland for a while now… we rented the DVD of it, but never bothered to watch it. I was too busy with the remake of Planet of the Apes.

The next theatrical release I’m looking forward to is, despite my not being a raving mad Beatles fan, Across the Universe. It actually wasn’t until I did some research into that I found out that it was centered around Beatles music, I just knew that the trailer had lots o’ music. I just remember seeing the trailer, I think it was before Harry Potter, and just going :open_mouth:, because I cannot recall having seen any film with a similar feel to it released in my lifetime (or, well, since I started paying attention). I’ve become rather interested in avant-garde stuff in the past year or so, so I’m just curious to see how this attempt to make something that’s getting a mainstream release turns out, for better or for worse. And I mean, it has puppets! How cool is that?

I watched Superbad a few days ago. Perverted, but funneh.

I didn’t like this movie much, but I love the music in it. I think I just wasn’t focusing enough on the movie… there’s a lot of whispering and quiet talking in this movie so I think I missed a lot of the plot. :open_mouth:

I watched “The Breakfast Club” yesterday.
Very good.

I’m watching Mirrormask now. So underappreciated, yup. Hopefully after the release of Stardust it will get much more needed attention and love.
