Movies - both new and old

I recently watched The Illusionist with my mother and sister, and to say that it is a great film is an understatement in itself. I was absolutely astounded by its magnificence in story-telling and character developement… Spectacular, it was…

Oh I absolutey love that movie too Mitch. First off, the story was marvelous! The tricks were really amazing. But after the ending, my jaw dropped to the flor. NOw that is some creative writing and planing there.

I was watching Matilda yesterday. Pam Ferris’s character still scares the living daylights out of me- which is good, 'cause she achieved her character. xD

Mitch- Paul Giamatti is such an amazing actor, which is pretty much the main reason why I’ve wanted to watch The Illusionist. Well, that, and it does look like a very good film!

I went to see the new Stephen King based film, 1408, the other day. It started off being very scary, but ended up being quite demented and over the top. There were definitely some really horrible scenes, but the story drifted quite a lot and despite some amazing acting, it just didn’t do it for me.

The Star Swordsman - Oh yes, the ending was quite a surprising, albeit spectacular, one indeed!

lizardgirl - I whole-heartedly agree. Besides his performance in Big Fat Liar, the role Mr. Giamatti played in The Illusionist has to be my favorite of his characters by far.

I watched The Black Cauldron last night. My sister and I spoofed up the whole thing. If I told you how many laughs we had I would probably have to write a short novel. :stuck_out_tongue:

I swer I probably seen that movie five times already. It is such an amazing tale. And I saw it again just a few minutes ago! It is my family’s favorite magic film.

The Harry Potter series would probably be my favorite magic films.

I watched Mirrormask again because I had to make a copy for a cousin, and I got to watch a bit of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, but I didn’t watch it from the beginning so I lost focus. =P

I watched Corpse Bride again recently. It’s still one of my favorite films that Tim has done.

I have only seen that film once on TV. It is up there on my list, but I am not really sure what is number one.

TSS - Have you seen more of Tim’ s work?

Yep, but are you talking about works when he was a director, a producer, or a writer?

TSS - I am talking about his work as a director.

I like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, and Planet of the Apes.

That has to be one of this best films, in my opinion. It’s also one of the only Tim Burton movie that I actually enjoy, sorry to say. I just can’t seem to like his work, no matter how stylish it is! My sister, on the other hand, is a Tim Burton geek. She’s got tons of The Nightmare Before Christmas junk… You should meet up with her sometime, Bill. (snigger)

I finally saw all of Are We Done Yet? Man that thing doesn’t end. Never saw the first but John C. McGinley pwns this film. xD It was totally worth it just for him.

And I managed to see a bit of Fat Albert- wish I could’ve seen the whole thing through- despite some rap music, it really isn’t a bad film. And I love Kenan Thompson- grew up watching him on Kenan and Kel and All That.

Mitch - I believe you haven’t seen Big Fish yet? You might enjoy that one. That was really good, and had a less dark tone then, say, Edward Scissorhands . Knowing you, you might not enjoy some parts of it, but a least give that one a chance. Oh and Steve Buscemi plays the role of Norther Winslow. So yeah, check that one out. That is one of Tim’s finest directing efforts in my opinion.

I saw Narnia today! I think it is one of my favorite movies of all.

TSS - Would you recommend it ? I’ve been wanting to check that one out for some time now…

Oh yes, I totally reccomend this movie to you.
