Movies - both new and old

Nico Icon: - Wow! This was a very, very good documentary. Took us all the way from her birth to death in a fairly short period of time, and even managed to gather up her relatives for the more personal parts of the doc. It was very insightful as to who Christa was as a person, and all the rare footage and recordings, especially of her from when she was a young girl in Germany, are really phenomenal. I just wished they’d touched on her involvement with The Velvet Underground a tiny bit more (they had a small segment about it, and that was it), and her life as a Warhol superstar. Wouldn’t kill to see Andy on film a bit more. Overall though, it satisfied my fascination with her and I give it an A-

Yep! And Miss Piggy!

Yes, he also of Muppet fame.

By the way, their new movie has been very hyped. I hope it’s good. I’ve never been into the Muppets, though.

And Fungus! And Animal, I think.

I already have plans to see it!

I plan to see the Three Musketeers and Puss n Boots sometime soon.

I’m curious about Puss in Boots, but I’m gonna wait a while before I see it.

I’ll probably update my list for films this year after I see Puss in Boots and watch I Am Number Four.

Parenthood: This 1980s comedy was so sweet and funny. It follwed a family with three branches and their dysfunctions.

I haven’t seen that much movies in a while. 've been dying to see 3 Musketeers and Puss n Boots.

Sweeney Todd - Whoa I’m amazed my parents let me see this! I think it has some minor pacing problems, but it overall held my interest amazingly well, I usually can’t stand to watch movies, especially musicals, that are this long. Acting was superb as were the costumes and makeup and whatnot  It’s really morbid, so if you’re easily upset by the gory, definitely don’t watch this…I was looking away through roughly 50% of this movie, but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying it. XD You should’ve seen my face when [spoil]Sacha Baron Cohen’s character ended up being the first kill…[/spoil] :open_mouth: :shake:  I give it a B+

That’s one of my favorite musicals, both in stage and film. Believe me, the movie did a lot for the pacing.

Also, I don’t think it’s that long, it doesn’t even reach 2 hours. Maybe you watched it with long commercial breaks?

I’ve wanted to see Sweeney Todd since it was released. I think I might be allowed now.

Sweeney Todd is one of my favorite musicals. My College’s drama department is putting it on next semester!

The music is so beautiful, especially “Joanna”. Even if the lyrics are creepy!

I was watching it once and my dad walked in. He asked what it was about, and I told him. He said that he can’t understand why I’d want to watch it! Haha, he just doesn’t like musicals. [spoil]Or people being killed and put in pies[/spoil]. 8D

While the plot can be seen as creepy, I think it’s always managed with humor.

I assume it’s probably black humor, not light hearted. 8D

Yeah, re-thinking it, it’s actually not that long–it just felt like it since it was late when I watched it and I wanted to sleep, haha. 8D

And yeah, the humor is definitely Burton’s signature black humor, but most of it felt pretty serious instead of flippant.

Actually, in this case the humor is Stephen Sondheim’s, who created the musical.

I’m not keen on Sweeney Todd. Maybe coz my sister tried to get me to watch it for ages and therefore it left me underwhelmed

I’ve presented it too. It’s a very fun play to make.
